Hi Heather!
When I'm not cooking myself, I bring a cooked Cornish Hen. It's my own personal Mini-Me Turkey.
You've gotten some great advise. It's hard to improve on.
And, the 55+ crowd could be a lot of fun too!

Cornbread and Sausage Stuffing Recipe, anyone?
Should I let the cornbread get stale? It's in the freezer awaiting direction.

Thanks Beth! That's about as good as it gets
They're a good company.

I think you & Lisa just misunderstood each other. That's all I was trying to clear up.
Yes, thank you Karen, apparently I misunderstood the statement. A lesson learned not to skim a post before commenting

maybe it comes from stuff like that? no clue if its true or not, but I'd rather not risk it. Personally I feel better knowing that none of my toiletries or beauty products have gluten in them, just in case.
Yes, you could have a topical response to gluten if you have an allergy to gluten. With Celiac Disease, it must be ingested.

It's not that easy to get off your hands and if it's in your hand soap then you're just rubbing it in.
If you handle gluten, bread for example, wash you hands well, so you don't put you hands near you face (meaning your MOUTH). You can not "rub it in".

Waitttt, so your saying that gluten in your shampoo can somehow get into your digestive system and make you sick??,
While I don't agree with everything in the above post, YES gluten from shampoo can get into your mouth while in the shower. It's easy to remove that aspect, so it's no longer a possibility when you get ill from other sources.

Gut free
Nope--can't stand giblets in gravy. I do take all the innards, simmer in water with an onion, celery, and carrot and use that broth when I make the gravy.
You do realize Patti, that's SERIOUS cross contamination. The ick factor will transfer to your gravy!

Me three, four or more!

Let's just refer back to the pet peeves topics.
People need to chill with the negative button.
Seriously?
LOL..I only recently realized that people actually use it!

Hi DAVE! <wavy hand>

Absolutely! If I recall (the percentage), you absorb 75% of your fluid intake in your small intestines. If your intestines are damaged due to Celiac, you're not getting adequate hydration.
Listen to your body and drink as much as it asks for.

Politics, sex and religion are difficult subjects to discuss without offending SOMEONE.

Yes! Welcome to the Club! A positive blood test in conjunction with your symptoms, that is a diagnosis. Your endo exam may have missed effected areas or it could have been caught before detectable damage could occur.
Positive dietary results can also be diagnostic. You can begin the diet immediately. Keep it simple with meats, fish, rice, potatoes, fresh veggies and fruit. Avoid processed food for a while and limit your dairy.
Welcome again!

Just the liver, in this house. The heart and stomach are kinda icky.

Lubriderm has gluten in it.
Not too sure about that. I would not use the Lubriderm with Oats, but the other products are gluten free.

My favorite breakfast is Van's toasted waffles, with a quick peanut butter spread and jelly or honey. Throw a half banana, or a strip or two of bacon, and you can eat it on the run as a sandwich......and yummy.
Sounds like you are good Booghead!
And lucky to have such gluten free options available.

Love this topic!
My paternal grandparents arrived in American, through Ellis Island, sometime around the turn of the century from Vienna, Austria. So, yeah, I have that eastern Europe connection.
My mothers side is English and I have been always told we are decedents of Henry Hudson. But, I believe that to be one of my father's tall tales, rather than fact.
I must look into Ancestry.com - might be fun!

I thought we were talking about oatmeal?
YES Oatmeal, but I found no information regarding allergens in reference to oatmeal. Only that they tests LARGE Rice cakes, which they claim/declare gluten free as under the 20ppm proposed level.
Guess, it really wasn't that good anyway.
Thank you Karen
Maybe a psilly whim............

When I first went gluten-free, I emailed Quaker oats. They said none of their oats are gluten-free because they are contaminated with wheat before they even get them. They don't do anything to remove the wheat.

Quaker cares about the health and safety of its consumers and is dedicated to providing great-tasting snack options with the most accurate product information as possible. The rice cake recipe hasn’t changed, but all of the gluten-free large Rice Cakes were tested to make sure they meet the proposed federal standard for gluten-free products, which is 20 parts per million (ppm) of gluten.
No available information on the site, but will contact via e-mail regarding oat hot cereal.

I remember, in years past, much discussion about Quaker Rice Cakes and some people got sick and others had not issues.
I'll see if I can get an update and post.
Thanks Karen
