These grow wild in my yard and now is the time to harvest. I've already throw a bunch into some soup, and I'm about to make a nettle quiche, but I still have at least three more bowls of these that I can harvest.
I hate to throw away free food so I'm looking for suggestions.
Learn suffin' every day - had to Google nettles. The only nettles I know about are swimming in the sea.
What do they taste like?

We usually marinade a good quality steak in La Choy Teriyaki, Italian dressing and some garlic, in the am. Grill or pan fry for dinner.
Just bought some San-J Teriyaki stir-fry and Marinade (new to me and marked Gluten Free). Going to give it a try.
It's easy to make your own:
Italian dressing
Honey
La Choy Soy Sauce
Dry Mustard
Ginger
Garlic Powder
And add for a change..... Get a rack of pork/beef ribs. Dust liberally with Emeril's Rib Rub in the morning, store in refer until dinner time. Grill or bake in the oven for dinner....it's good stuff!

Why are foods that cannot be digested properly by our bodies addictive??
I'm not talking about the science behind the opiods, or casomorphins but rather why would nature make it so that we are drawn back to what hurts us?
I did not bother to look up opiods or casamorphins, but I rather suspect that we are now more sensitive to genetically altered wheat.
I have a friend that has Celiac and she was able to eat hand made bread in Kathmandu, where there is no "Monsanto" and bread is prepared as it has for a thousand years.
I'm a firm believer that our bodies have not evolved as much as the need for mass production to feed the world and pockets.

My wife bought a Archer farms ham for easter and after alot of time searching thier website, can't find anything about gluten, so I turn to this forum again for help. If anyone knows if they are gluten free or not, please respond. Thanks.
Do you have the label? Any wheat would be required to be listed and it's unlikely to contain other forms of gluten. I never saw a ham that contained gluten. The accompanying glaze packet may.

Have you had any allergy testing?
Oh...and welcome!

In the past years, members here have used Kraft Mac & Cheese...pitch the macaroni in the box and just use the cheese sauce, with gluten free pasta.
...but it's easy to make a cheese sauce.

Same here...and yes, I find it disgusting, too.
ditto from me too!
Ick!

Any company who lists *Proprietary Ingredience*... you need to stop buying from. They support their suppliers over those of the consumers....as in Hershey.
In additon: "
Thank you for contacting Imperial Toys. I believe we do have some form of gluten in our bubble solution. I if your child may get very sick I do not recommend using our products."
I find this a pretty lame response. Dose it or does it not? Pthhh..

Does anybody know if Tootsie Rolls/ Fruit Tootsie rolls are okay to eat? I don't see them on this Easter list but I've seen them on past lists and in 2 books I have. I saw some Tootsie Fruit Rolls --which you never see anywhere!- and would love to eat them. I don't see anything bad on the package, nor contamination warnings. THis packaging does say Happy Easter on it. Is there a reason these aren't okay? Do any of you eat Tootsie Rolls?
Google "Tootsie Rolls - Gluten Free", and see what you come up with. The internet is wonderful
If the ingredients appear ok, you could call the company or trust the labels. I tend to trust the labels .

Lisa, Thank you so much for posting this! Your work is truly appreciated!
You're very welcome!
....it's nice to hear a thank you.

I use B&M Beans and spice them up with Lea& Perrin's Worcestershire Sauce (US ONLY), Kraft Mustard, Tabasco Sauce, Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ Sauce, Green Peppers and Onions....with bacon on the top.
Yes,not all baked beans are gluten free.

Soooooo..... Do you all eat things that are made on shared lines? Looks to me like there's little to be had in the Easter Basket.
Soooooo.....if you are a super sensitive, contact with the companies is easily available. I have found most to be a CYA statement*. But, you will have to make that judgment for yourself.
I plan on presenting a full basket.
*(please read all labels)

Sounds wonderful!!!
Next on my list to try!

If it were me, I would revisit everything I came in contact with. Keep a food log to include vitamins, lotions, lipsticks, shampoo.....

I would say: " Thank you so much for your effort, but I'm very new to this diet and know that I get very, very ill when I eat something that contains the slightest bit of gluten. My level of sensitivity is really too much to impose on my friends who choose to cook for me. Thanks you for your kindness, and I'm certain that the others will enjoys it "

Hi,
I've been gluten-free for almost one month now and am feeling yucky - stomach upset, diarrhea. Is this some sort of die-off?
Don't worry, I'm not going back, just wondering how long it will take to feel better.
Thanks
It can take a while and you might be sensitive to all foods until you begin to heal. Also you might want to review your diet to make sure something is not sneaking past you.

Hi everyone, last month while in the hospital I was diagnosed with Celiac and Crones. We couldn't figure out what was wrong with me when it started up a week after Christmas. I lost a lot of weight due to the Celiac and I couldn't go out much. Now that I am aware of whats wrong I have been keeping to being gluten, wheat and dairy free. I am glad to know there is a site like this so I can discuss this. So far from what I have seen this site is my Wikipedia for Celiac Disease. Thank you.
Welcome Runner! This is a great place to be and we welcome you! Please feel free to walk around this site and and join in and ask any questions you may have. We have all walked in your shoes and here to help.
I stayed home for two months, until my gluten free life took hold.
We are glad you're here and glad to be helpful!!!!

I read that hydrolyzed wheat protein is used to "clarify" some wine, (and therefore, probably vinegar).
Would you kindly post that source?

I would think there is no need to worry. Wine is not subject to gluten.
