  1. This looks like a good source for information: (although it's a vitamin link) Open Original Shared Link
  2. Open Original Shared Link (this link will not open for non members, but I have included the section I want to reference.) Although villous atrophy is not exclusive of celiac disease, it is considered a crucial finding. Other causes of blunted villi include tropical sprue, malnutrition, intolerance to cow's milk, soy protein intolerance, and infectious...
  3. Jason, sorry, but you're not supposed to "bump" https://www.celiac.com/gluten-free/index.php?app=forums&module=extras&section=boardrules
  4. K, I don't want you to misunderstand me. You know that I support those company's who fully disclose. But the way that Walmart discloses may be confusing to many, as resulting in this tread. IF there are no gluten ingredients, without the standard in place for gluten free labeling, listing a product as gluten free, would seem reasonable. Advertising...
  5. As I noted on another thread: Agreed...but should they (Walmart) continue to produce conflicting information? A fully disclosed ingredient list should be clear. A marketing ploy such as "Naturally Gluten Free" should hold NO disclaimers! Knock off the marketing gimmick and be truthful with their ingredient listing. Add a disclaimer if you choose...

  7. WELL DONE DARISSA! Instead of complaining, you took action, with a wonderful result!
  8. At this time, there is no legal standard for items labeled "gluten free". It's in the works and hopefully it will be soon. But, never replace label reading. It won't fail you.
  9. Hey Rose, Yeah, but you might have an allergy to gluten as well. Maybe another the reason to avoid it for a while. Let us know how we can help you out. It does get easier.
  10. I would tend to agree with Peter. When a product is a called "Naturally Gluten Free", it would intimate that there would be a singular ingredient or at the most minimal. A banana is naturally gluten free. A product with multiple ingredients would not be considered "naturally gluten free". There is your argument!
  11. That is the way of the gluten free world. Most companies will list a "disclaimer" that their product MAY contain traces of bla, bla, bla. Your product may not contain any gluten ingredients, but in the manner of full disclosure, Great Value chose to inform you that they MAY be a trace allergen. GOOD FOR THEM! Which means: 1. There product...
  12. Hi Ryan, Try to Google 'Hostess Hickory Sticks-Gluten Free'....sometimes it can render a search that you can be satisfied with.
  13. Carmel Color should not be a gluten issue. I think that you are depriving yourself needlessly.
  14. Yes, I would also suggest that you try the diet for a couple of months. But it is important that you be 100% diligent with the diet. This place can be very helpful to you. With your strong family history, it would make sense that gluten may be an issue. As mentioned, testing for children under the age of five is highly unreliable.

  18. I do have to agree with Richard. In the past five years since I was diagnosed, GREAT progress has been made to make my life easier and YOURS. Look toward the future. Request fairness. Some things in life are trial and error. Don't ask the world to dance circles around you. Learn what you can and share it with those who are like you. Everything is...
  19. I had no problem. The worst part was the anticipation. Bring someone with you to ask questions or to listen for you. Although awake, I could not remember anything what was said, after the procedure. And you certainly need a ride home. The biopsy should be pain free, there are very little nerves in your intestinal lining.
  20. Hi Lynnet! Take a walk around the Product section of this forum. It has some great information.

  23. Hello and welcome! You have found a great place to learn Start simple. Don't buy gluten free foods right now, you won't like them. And take a deep breath. By starting simple, I mean, eat naturally. Meat, fish, rice, potatoes, fresh veggies and fruit. Cecelia's Gluten Free Grocery Shopping Guide, or Triumph Dining Grocery Guild will help...
