  2. Welcome Birdy! A wheat allergy is not the same as Celiac Disease. Here is some information regarding both: https://www.celiac.com/articles/179/1/Aller...n-MD/Page1.html
  3. I did the same similar thing. I put green round stickers on items that I eat or have checked on their gluten free status. It also reminds my other family members that I share the mayo or whatever, and they don't double dip.
  4. ALL distilled alcohol is considered safe for people with Celiac to consume. The distillation process is said to remove the offending gluten from the alcohol. Now, with that said, we do have a few very sensitive to trace amounts of gluten. Here is a listing found on this site: https://www.celiac.com/articles/222/1/Glute...ages/Page1.html
  5. Open Original Shared Link Dermatitis herpetiformis is frequently associated with gluten (a protein found in cereals) sensitivity in the small bowel. This means that instead of being highly convoluted, the lining of the intestines is smooth and flattened. Gluten is a protein present in grasses of the species Triticeae, which includes barley, rye, and...
  6. Hi Jack and Welcome! This is the specific Serologic Blood Panel to test for Celiac: Antigliadin antibodies (AGA) both IrA and IgG Antiendomysial antibodies (EMA) - IgA Anti-tissue transglutaminase antibodies (tTG) - IgA Total IgA level. There is no testing for Celiac that is considered 100% reliable, so there may be some false...

  10. Hi Sonia and Welcome: You have found the best information around. I am sorry about your son's diagnosis, but isn't it great that he can begin to heal without surgery or medication. A change of diet can get him on the road to good health and development. The TENDENCY for Celiac is inherited. Twenty percent first degree relative will develop Celiac...
  11. This thread is over four years old. I believe, currently Progresso Creamy Mushroom soup is still available. Not always easily found, but still available. When I find it, I buy six or more cans.
  12. How do you test for mercury toxicity?
  13. nora posted an excellent answer. If by cheating and healing is hindered, then yes, absorption can be compromised due to uncontrolled Celiac.
  14. I don't think I have heard of that practice in the US mushroom.
  15. What have your doctors recommended?
  16. Sounds like you have wonderful people around you, people who are used to working together to achieve a common goal.
  17. I think most drug stores have lice/nit(eggs) shampoos. Several repeat shampoos should work. Wash your hair brushes, combs, etc..
  18. Dylan, We are not doctors. We can offer experience, but you should seek professional help. As said earlier, if you are not comfortable with the doctors you see now, find others. A doctor can test for chemical imbalances. With a past suicide attempt and your current emotional state, you should be dealing with professionals. Sit down and try to talk...
  19. If you're going to a Japanese restaurant for the first time after gluten free and have not talked to the staff prior to eating... I would get steamed veggies and chicken with white rice. Bring your own gluten free soy sauce (LaChoy). There is always a risk for cross contamination and difficulty with a language barrier. I think that you'll find that...
  20. I found that the Trellis Restaurant at Market Square to be VERY accommodating. Check with the staff during off hours and make a reservation. I was offered several recommendations and all were excellent. The chef was very knowledgeable and my entre arrive just as glamorous as my husbands.
  21. Rices (unseasoned) should not be gluten problem.
  22. I don't think you should have any problems regarding gluten. Now, the tabasco flavor is HOT!
  23. I think some members here have already scarfed about a thousand boxes already.
  24. Now that's exciting news. If all IBS patients are screened for Celiac, the rate of diagnosed could sky rocket. It could be a new day for research, pharmaceutical and product development.
