    ARCHIVED The Gluten Doctors

I am one of the first to agree that testing is far from adequate. There is so much we don't know and the field of study is fairly new in the US. rinne makes good points, as always. But the above quote concerns me. There are many National Celiac Disease organizations and associations that work in partnership with research studies to refine this disease...
  2. What a great suggestion for a dreary cold day this like. Off to the store.. Yams, onion, bacon, yes please.

    ARCHIVED The Gluten Doctors

This statement, deserves to stand alone: (from the link supplied We are affiliated with the Celiac Disease Foundation, and generally advise physicians and patients to follow the guidelines for celiac diagnosis and treatment recommended by university celiac disease centers, including those at U.C. San Diego, Columbia University, University of Maryland and...
  5. Anything for a pizza!
  6. "He's also developing an egg that will contain a high level of gluten antibodies that may one day be sold commercially."... from the article.. The side effects to eating the gluten antibodies egg are neck twitching, grub digging and mild random clucking.
  7. I'm not Raven, but mild blunting of the villi is consistance with Celiac Disease. Your pathology report is very similar to mine. That, coupled with your positive dietary response to the removal of gluten, is a diagnosis. As mentioned, a more knowledgeable doctor could help you with a more defined diagnosis. Welcome to the Club!
  8. My pathology report indicated Mild Villous blunting, as well as visibly indicated. Unfortunately, I don't have the time for research links, but they're out there somewhere. I don't believe that villous atrophy is considered late stage Celiac Disease, as is sometimes posted here. Google Marsh Scale-Celiac and various stages are indicated. Gotta...

  10. Damage can be seen, but I 'm sure not always. My GI explained to my husband my blunted villi by using his fingers to demonstrate. Scalloping can also be visible. Some doctors recommend an endoscopy exam and colonoscopy to rule out critical issues, then work backwards. Good luck with your answers.
  11. Open Original Shared Link This might be helpful to those of you with children in day care or elementary school.
  12. Do not put him on a gluten free diet if you choose to pursue testing. It can affect his testing results. The reliability of testing children under the age of five is decreased. If he is in pain or discomfort due to gluten, that's another story.
  13. My gosh, is the Tombs still open. That's where we went, when we skipped Mr. Barletts government class, to hang out. (but don't tell my mom )
  14. "I am a newbie and i have a question, where do i locate this scd diet information that everyone is talking about? thank you"
  15. I don't have one, but can't you clean the Forman Grill well. Just make sure that you can clean things well and run them in the diswasher. Any scratched teflon pan or pot should be replaces for many reasons. The pizza stone can't be cleaned.
  16. The least ingredients is what I look for as well. That's why I buy Butter (real butter), not margerine or sweet cream. Just makes like a little bit simplier.
  17. Welcome! You have found a great site. The TENDENCY for Celiac to be passed on to first degree relatives is about 20%. The current available testing it not what we would like at this time. Although, there can be false negatives, but no false positives. Some believe that a gluten intolerance is a precursor to Celiac Disease. It might be, but I have...
  18. It makes a great door stop.
  19. I've been buying Land of Lakes for years. I don't know if I've ever heard of gluten in any butter before.
  20. If you are just beginning the diet, I would stay away from any possible gluten exposure. 21. That's pretty much a personal choice based on experience. If I have other options, that would not be my choice, but otherwise I would consume a product with a shared facility. I am also not sensitive to trace amounts of gluten.
  22. I was on the Bozo Show too - in Milwaukee (a loooong time ago). My Gramma took me.
