  1. Thanks richard for that additional information.
  2. If Activia contained wheat, it must be listed on the ingredient listing. So barley, malt or rye would be one of the "hidden" ingredients in the natural flavors. Did the company tell you what form of gluten is in their product? I have always eaten Yoplait and I'm not familiar with Dannon products. I've always been curious about Activia, though.
  3. Submitted from the NFCA Newsletter - Open Original Shared Link Valenine's Day and Your Celiac Child By Abby Schwartz, NFCA Volunteer Staff Writer Valentine's Day is almost here. Unlike the ubiquitous pizza parties that pop up throughout the school year, this is one occasion that is easy for your celiac child to enjoy. If your child's class is having...
  4. All of Boar's Head meats and cheesed are gluten free. Hillshire and Oscar Meyer will clearly list all forms of gluten on their labels. You could cook a turkey or chicken and send him with slices. Smithfield hams do not contain gluten. But ALWAYS reads the label, because ingredients can change without notice. Here is a listing of companies who will...
  5. I found that when my Celiac kicked in, I was extremely more sensitive to liquor that ever before, regardless of whether the alcohol was grain based or not. I don't know why and I have not seen any research to link, but it caught me by surprise once or twice.
  6. Are these the same test strips that ShayFL tested (at her own expense) for us and determined a lack of accuracy? https://www.celiac.com/gluten-free/index.ph...52627&st=75 RESULTS ARE IN!! Read EVERYTHING I write here BEFORE you make up your own mind. Bottom Line For Me: A Waste of Money Why? Both food items that were known gluten-free tested...
  7. Welcome, I am assuming that you have not gotten the results of your colonoscopy/endoscopy? Testing is far from reliable unfortunately. Continue to try the diet and be as diligent as possible. For you to have digestive difficulties to the level you have had, it will take some time to heal, if gluten is in fact your problem. Gluten can be very tricky...
  8. Thank you for posting this and especially updating some older information.
  9. Celiac Disease is developed through an autoimmune reaction to the proteins found in wheat, barley, malt and rye. Due to the damage caused by this autoimmune reaction, dairy often can be problematic. It may resolve with the removal of gluten from your daughters diet after some time, if in fact she has Celiac Disease. How much wheat and/or gluten is...
  10. As Peter mentioned "FDA labeling rules apply to all foods sold in the United States, regardless of the country of origin of the product or any ingredients in the product. Wheat would have to be disclosed. "
  11. Lovely new cut Patti. Quite lovely! Peeeerfect for that Texas humidity. You'll find curls you never thought you had.

    ARCHIVED Annika Update

Angie, I'm so glad that things look promising and hope you have answers soon. I'd love to see an updated picture. I was there when she was born. and wanted to name her "Goose Guhlia" Hugs to you both!
  13. Yes, in the US is is derived from corn. No gluten worries.

ARCHIVED Group Letter to Dr. Fine

Discussions are great, especially when they are in a direction for the common good.
  15. We have an annual Super Bowl Party (no matter who is playing ). This year: Blazing Saddle Stew - Layered Salad - Corn Bread - Pamela's Choc. Cake Quarters Kielbasa Ground beef Green Peppers Onion ...
  16. This recently crossed my path. Hopes this will help: Throwing Your Child a Gluten-Free Birthday Party By Abby Schwartz, NFCA Volunteer Staff Writer As 2009 begins and the family calendar slowly fills, one date is marked boldly in our home: my daughter's birthday. Granted, hers is not until November, but we will go through many ideas and plans before...
  17. Distilled vinegar in the mustard should not be a problem, regardless of the source, and the mustard seed does not contain any offending gluten.
  18. No you don't, but when questions are asked here, we try to be helpful and answer them. The post you quoted was over four years old. Rossi has most likely graduated and off into the world. Bet he figured it out.
  19. Depending where you are in healing on the diet, it could be dairy. After some time you might be able to reintroduce it and be fine with it.
  20. I can understand your frustration. In the Unites States, as of yet, there is no standard for labeling a product "gluten free". A company can label a product "gluten free" if there are no gluten ingredients. More and more, I see companies labeling their products "no gluten ingredients". Rarely a manufactured product can claim to be 100% gluten...
  21. I haven't seen anything. Have your checked their website?
  22. Open Original Shared Link I don't know when this listing has been updated, but it's a good base to follow. If it's inaccurate, it would err on the conservative side. I don't believe that chalk should be an issue. But, then, I don't remember the subject ever coming up before.
  23. There are currently several active threads regarding the SCD Diet. Please make you replies to this link: https://www.celiac.com/gluten-free/index.php?showtopic=54285
  24. Please read this entire thread (as indicated on page one): Glucose, glucose syrup, caramel and similar ingredients have no detectable gluten, even if derived from wheat. . New food labelling laws require food labels to list all ingredients derived from wheat, rye, barley and oats. This does not mean that all ingredients derived from these sources...
  25. Unfortunately, there is no "typical" reaction. Everyone is different, but this does sound like a gluten response. The BRAT Diet helps sooth the tummy - banana, rice, apple sauce and tea/gftoast. I would strongly recommend, if possible, you get your family tested. It might be important down the road when they are older and independently living. Or start...
