  1. Raleigh, North Carolina was listed in the top ten cities to live in, with the beach and mountains easily available. It's a young persons town. And you have Raleigh, Durham and Winston Salem, which is called the Triangle and some really big money generated there.
  2. Every time I have house guests or company for dinner, I totally cook gluten free. It's my home. I get no complaints, just compliments. I am a taster when I cook. There are so many gluten free mainstream products that makes it very easy. With all the fresh produce this summer you have sooo many options. Quiche with fresh tomatoes with mozzer. cheese...
  3. Yes, and consider yourself one of the lucky ones. I was diagnosed at 50. Which leave those of us diagnosed at a later age to potentially be at risk for much more unfortunate issues such as diabetes, fibromyalgia, MS, intestinal lymphoma, peripheral neuropathy and other paths that gluten can get a hold of and reek havoc. Celiac is celiac, but it's...
  4. Yes, as Jess has said. That also depends on your level of sensitivity. I cook 99% gluten free and when I do not (such as pasta for my husband), I take extra care to clean by hand before it enters the dishwasher. The heat in the dishwasher does nothing for gluten residue, rather it is the soap and water action that released the gluten matter from the...

    ARCHIVED Message Tree

I don't understand this? What is a message tree?
  8. I started a thread similar to this one not so long ago. We all come together with a common bond, but yet our lives are so diverse. During the course of the previous thread, I found that most that posted were highly educated, highly degreed and the stay at home mom's/dad had had more intellect and knowledge than I would have ever imagined. I came to a...
  9. I am not an expert by no means, but I think Celiac has a loud voice, symptom related. Once those symptoms are relieved, other quiet voice are allowed to be heard. Celiac can be very complex, and well known to develop in to other issues.
  10. Hope you get good news Brenda. I was pretty much like Jess. A mexican lunch and slept on the way home and the rest of the afternoon. The worst is almost over. The proceedure is nothing to worry about.

    ARCHIVED Sad News

Susie, I am so sorry for you three losses. I know how emotional it can be. My daughter found out she miscarried this past week. You may remember, there was a thread here some time ago regarding miscarrages. I was amazed how many of us had suffered them. I hope you can find some answers.
  12. UrsaMajor is German, but currently on holiday in Germany. I am sure that she will assist you in any way and even write the letter for you or find some source information that can be passed on. She checks in from time to time. PM her and see if she can help.
  13. There are several articles here on the "Site Index", which you may find interesting. (scroll down to the bottom)
  14. Memphis - Bonefish Grill Carrabba's Italian Grille El Chico Flemming's Steakhouse Hard Rock Cafe Outback P.F. Chang's Ruth's Chris Texas Roadhouse (may no longer have a gluten-free menu) ALL HAVE GLUTEN FREE MENU'S Have a great time.
  15. I think that you should get a total medibolic blood work up and make sure that you are not deficient in anything due to Celiac. You may also look into Peripheral Neuropathy. Google that and see if it fits. Low B-12 or hypoglycemia can also cause symptoms such as you described. Good luck in your search.
  16. Welcome to this site. Caraline, what type of blood work has your doctor done on you? A metabolic panel to check deficiency? Since you have found this site, I assume that you have a concern regarding Celiac. Celiac Disease is an intolerance from the proteins found in wheat, barley, rye, malt and most oats Contact you doctor and ask that he/she run...
  17. Perhaps some of the humor that you father gave you. I do remember how funny. You are a master at humor. Yes, awaiting.

    ARCHIVED Taco Bell?

Taco Bell for me? Not in this lifetime.
  19. OK, that sounded a little bit preachy, didn't mean too. There is a list of gluten free spirits on this site index, which would be a good safe way to start. RedBridge, New Grist are two of the gluten free beers readily available. Enjoy.
  20. Any distilled spirits should technically be gluten free, although some such as vodka have added flavors after the distilling process. That is not a license to assume the some gluten sensitive people do not react. Alcohol can serve as a solvent to your digestive system and can be very harsh, especially during the healing process.
  21. Eating and being in labor at the same time, not such an easy task. Then they try to give you an enema so the only thing you deliver is a baby. Good luck Stef. Keep us updated.
  22. As stated on another thread, I have never seen any documentation that glue on envelopes contain gluten. Nor have I ever heard that it does not. ...but until it presents itself, I would be cautious. If you are relatively new to the gluten free diet, it will take some time to heal. Some feel better in several days and others will take several months...
  23. I took some for about four days. They did not sit well with me at all and threw them out. I believe the ones that I bought contained dairy. There are some probiotics that are dairy free, but not familiar with which brands.
  24. Bev, Thanks for your thoughts. Getting up with Lynne may be a good idea. I do have a first cousin with MS. Are we paranoid or what? Getting old sucks!!!!!!!!! Researching the internet can scare the crap out of you. Guess, I'll e-mail Lynne and SHE can scare the crap out of me. Never the less, good night to all and to all a good night. as...
  25. xxoo to you Laura. Thanks for you thoughts.
