ARCHIVED What Is "wasting" Or "wasted Buttocks"?
Lisa replied to wonkabar's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I totally agree, buying pants are a nightmare. I was once a 14 pant size because of my belly. My legs are very thin as well as my arms. I have NO butt and get backaches when I sit on chairs for any length of time. Now I am a size six, just for my belly. If I would be a size 2 if it were not be for my belly. If I could twist my torso around, I could... -

ARCHIVED Do You Think I Might Have Celiac
Lisa replied to Smunkeemom's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hey Mom: For me it is very typical after D to have constipation. Brain fog, lack of concentration, in lah-lah-land while driving, which is scarry for me. I would certrainly entertain testing. It would be important to know, so if you are celiac, you can begin to feel better and to ward off other very critical issues. Glad that you posted and feel... -

Lisa replied to Lister's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Sometimes, people just need time to heal before introducing new products. As Jen say's, perhaps Lister should go back to the basics and then begin a food journal. -
ARCHIVED Other Things To Be Careful About
Lisa posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Went out to lunch with my daughter. I ordered a salad with no dressing, as I brought my Maries creamy ranch (which I looked up on the delfi list before I went). Of course, having a wonderful lunch.... I glanced at the expiration date and it was Jan - 05!!! I am sooo tired now and I want to sleep, but my stomach noises are keeping me awake. Don... -

ARCHIVED Ok, I Gotta Ask This...
Lisa replied to JerryK's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I apparently looked sick. Now I have people comming up to me saying how much better I look. I know that everyone thought that I was anorexic. Too bad they didn't tell me when I looked sick, they just told each other. -
As Chair, at a public meeting, I hit the gavel and called the meeting adjourned....I was OPENING UP THE MEETING. I am surprized that everyone did not get up and go home before it even started. All my fellow commissioners laughed at me after the meeting. I had no clue. And I forget things all the time. My house looks like a post-it ad.

ARCHIVED M&M's Candy
Lisa replied to barilla's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Perhaps you were thinking of Maltdextrin....key word malt. (but not 100% possitive on that, so don't rely on my info)...No....... Maltdextrin is ok, but Malt is not. That was one of my early facts. After a year, sometimes I forget what I have learned and have to do it over again. Repetitive, repetitive, repetitive is truely my way of life. I go through... -

ARCHIVED Rollercoaster.....
Lisa replied to Smunkeemom's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I can't tell you how hard it is to be TOTALLY gluten free in the beginning. It's almost like you have to crawl in a hole and eat fruits and nuts. I have been trying to be gluten free since August and I have made so many goofs. Most of them dinning out. Lipstick is still a challenge for me, because the ingrediance listings are so damn small that no one... -
ARCHIVED How Do I Plan A Gluten Free Wedding?

At the 20 days to the wedding is counting down.....I have asked our caterer to prepare the meat with my requirements and spices, as well as the salmon. We will have cheeses and pate's That is enought for me to eat. The guests will have various breads and crackers. To be totally gluten free for 300 would be very difficult. But,. I know that I will have... -
Well, let your date know at dinner that you have a dietary issue and order accordingly....it's a good way to weed out the slackers, and leave your devotion to those who are caring and interested. Lisa

ARCHIVED Stupid Question
Lisa replied to taz sharratt's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I do not know the difference between the effect of intolerace, but the effects are the same. I don't know of any rare condition that will trigger Celiac. To my knowledge, the symptoms are the same and the diet should be treated as the same. If your body cannot handle gluten, it just can't handle gluten. I am sorry that you have gone throught many doctors... -
ARCHIVED Die Off Symptoms
Lisa replied to terps19's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Your body needs to adjust. It all depends on how bad the intestinal damage is/was. Even though you may be gluten free and dairy free, you insides are still damaged and it will take some time to heal itself. For headaches, I take aleve, and for stomach upset, it take zantec 75 or 150 when the bloating and gas gets bad. Healing will take quite sometime... -

Bless your heart, you spell like me. El Paso Taco Shells work for me. As posted today, use the package Taco mix, that does not come in the preprepared box with seasoning inside. You will be fine. But, I would advise, not to get into the spicey stuff too soon if you have been eating just salads. Salads are sometimes hard for me to digest.. For a... -
