  1. Rachel - have you been tested for Type II - delayed food reactions. Same question for the person who posed the initial question. This can well be the answer to all those celiacs who still have digestive and intestinal problems long after going gluten-free. I have had the DF reactions for many years and this can make you really miserable. Gluten may be only...
  2. Good. Thanks. I spend a lot of my life on a computer but that doesn't make me forum smart. Here I am definitely 'challenged'. But kind ones like you take pity on me and before you know it I will know what I am doing.
  3. Absolute sense. How do you get just part of a quote - enough to identify it? Some messages are long.
  4. Thanks Kaiti - Now I will see if this reply stays with your message or 'floats' off separately. I knew about the reply but now how to attach it to a message without taking the quote. You say 'know how to read a celiac panel'. Explain please. Did you have some experience or know of labs not reading the panel correctly?
  5. Sorry - my reply to you didn't go where I expected it to and is floating around loose. You can tell I am a newbie here. What went wrong for you at Prometheus?
  6. Thanks for the responses. Now can someone help a newbie here with a technical issue. I am new to this forum - have never been on a forum before. How do I reply to a portion of a response without quoting the whole message? I want to make a reply to a response and have it appear with that response but without the quote. Thanks for help. Claire
  7. Hi Rachel - you seem to be making great progress. Congratulations. Most discouraging for me right now is that everything takes so long. I wait days into weeks just to get a secretary to make an appointment. I have turned into a first class pest. Right now I am waiting for NIH. Once I get a call back it will be two to three months for the appointment and...
  8. What went wrong? Claire
  9. Thanks Kaiti Blood work only? I have been on a gluten controlled diet for 15 years. Blood work is unreliable. I need a stool sample test.
  10. Thanks Rachel. I will be so glad if I ever get something definitve. My tale is way too long to tell - you would age while I was telling it. Right now I have a diagnosis which I don't believe - at least I don't believe it is a primary diagnosis. I believe I am celiac disease or gluten sensitive. Whatever, I have serious neurological complications and...
  11. Two labs are being mentioned here. Can we add yet another. Great Smoky? I understand that in addition to celiac testing they do some other very sophisticated funtional testing. Anyone have any experience? Claire
  12. Would like to see recipes for scones, quickbreads and muffins. Thanks for offering. Claire
  13. Has anyone used the Great Smokey lab for celiac testing? If so, was this a blood or stool sample test? I would appreciate hearing from anyone who has used or knows particulars about this lab. It has been recommended to me by a naturopathic doctor. Info on cost will be appreciated - also which of the many panels of tests were used. thanks. ...
  14. If there were no other reason, testing for a definitve diagnosis gives you something to present to family members who are also at risk - given that celiac disease is a genetic disorder and likewise the gluten sensitivity. DNA mapping is pretty convincing. Claire
  15. Hello Rachel - strange that you had a reaction to buckwheat as it is not a grain - not even in the grass family. It is a berry. You could just be allergic to it. Certainly it has no gluten. Claire
  16. Many celiacs develop autoimmune diseases such as fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue. The muscle pain could be cause by fibromyalgiA - it is a common symptom. Also celiac disease does have many neurological implications including peripheral neuropathy - muscle pains. Claire
  17. You are getting lots of good responses here but i will throw in my two cents worth also. You may find that you, like many lactose intolerant people, can eat aged cheese - e.g. cheddar. The older the better. Also you can purchase unpasteurized cheese. You will be amazed to find that these give you little if any problem. The Swiss unpasteurized is a good...
  18. Try adding a little applesauce. You can also used mashed banana but that adds a flavor where applesauce does not. Claire
  19. If you check out diary information you will find that the molecular structure of the wheat protein (gluten) and the milk protein (casein) are virtually identical. The implication being that the body can all too easily react to either of these proteins. The lactose intolerance may well diminish with healing but the casein issue remains. Some would choose to...
  20. Try using medicated or unmedicated baby wipes - especially good to carry with you. At home try Vaseline Intensive Care Lotion as a wipe rather than water. Very Soothing. Claire
  21. Could you sent the llist please. Much apprciated. cmason@innernet.net

  23. This is the Enterolab website: Open Original Shared Link Claire
  24. Flour is fine in the freezer. I have always stored any extra that way so it wouldn't get the 'moths' that are so troublesome. Regarding pizza - I have a recipe for pizza with a rice crust. It is so good - way way better than cardboard. If you want the recipe reply with an email address and I will send it to you. Claire
