  1. Cyclinglady I started tea tree oil in June and also tried it in the past but with no luck. I don't know if I tried it long enough. I will try to be more consistent this time and hopefully have a better report to give you around Christmas. My doctor will not give me the systemic anti-fungal with my autoimmune problems. So it is either tea tree oil or pulling...
  2. Hi!I also would like to find a reliable doc to treat a leaky gut. I am not sure that many doctors believe in the theory. My gastro just says to cut out what bothers you. I also have been suffering from gastro symptoms for most of my life. I am gluten free and probably a celiac but tests were inconclusive. I went to a naturopathic doc and he helped me by finding...
  3. Gemini Thanks for the suggestions. I have a wonderful rhuemmy doctor that believes that my disease was caught early. I am not on many drugs. The plaquenil has helped me get out of bed in the mornings and for a while, I couldn't. I was in such terrible shape for a while, with pain, fatigue, gluten, egg, dairy and peanut intolerances that I was started on...
  4. I have a positive ANA and messed up bloodwork. They tell me I have "sicca" which is dry eyes, skin and mouth along with fatigue and mild joint pain. It could develop into lupus or scleroderma. So far what I have read is that I have sjogren's disease until something else changes the diagnosis. Hope you get some answers. I am on plaquenil and my fatigue...
  5. I shop at aldi's all the time and eat the plain tortilla chips, but I don't get typically sick like many of you. I have been questioning why most of their food says gluten free while other companies really struggle with their labeling. I have talked to a representative regarding the frozen vegetables and when I asked if the broccoli was gluten-free, his...
  6. Resources that I thought were helpful: Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link - has good info on egg substitutions Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link Hope it helps - Renaye
  7. I also have intolerances to egg, peanuts and dairy. I have not been diagnosed with celiac as the doctor did not get a positive biopsy. My stomach problems (chronic) got worse and I added sjogren's disease to the list. A naturopath did the food allergy panel on me after that and that is when I discovered the intolerances. It is really difficult without...
  8. I have tried green tea and the herbal celetrial tea packets and they both tend to give me GERD symptoms. My lower esophagus spincter muscle does not shut anymore. I may look into other types of tea. I have not tried any dairy free milk instead of my morning tea, but that and the apple cider are good suggestions. Not sure if the cider will bother me though...
  9. I am looking for a drink that is gluten free, dairy and egg free that is soothing to drink. Preferrably a hot drink that is not to sugary. I have problems with acid reflux and tea and coffee even decaf tends to bother me. So far I am drinking hot water in the mornings. I posted it here since I will probably have to make it instead of buy it. Any suggestions...
  10. I was originally eating amande yogurt and can't find any so I brought home almond dreams yogurt and suddenly realized that it may not be safe. Rice Dreams milk is not safe so does that mean that all of the Dream products are not safe, including yogurt and ice cream? I bought it for my upcoming vacation and really don't want to take any chances with feeling...
  11. I have done a little research as I am going on vacation next month. We have a suite booked and according to the internet there is a Trader joe and Jewel-Osco downtown. I don't know where the university is at but there should be a Trader Joe in several locations. I am not familiar with Jewel. Let me know if she finds any supportive restaurants to go to...
  12. I don't like to go to parties either. The ones that bother me the most is going to my in-laws where food is heaven and everyone tries to go on a diet.. My kids always come home feeling sick. I am amazed of my attitude towards food now because there are really so many foods that is unhealthy. Even my kids notice the difference. What bothers me the most is...
  13. Nikki I had Spastic colon diagnosis when I was 13. Was given bentyl. It never went away but did have periods where it was better. I then started with severe constipation after the birth of my children and then fatigue. Now I go to a rhuematologist and also wonder what would have happened with better early treatment. I don't have any definite diagnosis but...
  14. I will have my gallbladder rechecked when I go see my PCP. I am feeling better and have been doing alot of thinking. I alter my milks due to my theory of having a leaky gut. I over-did it with almond milk and have not reintroduced that back after 2 years. I don't do rice milk because I can't find anything other than Rice Dreams. I was altering coconut, soy...
  15. Um, no not hashbrowns. I didn't ask for details, but this is what the cook told me...We deep fry our "baked" potatoes and then put them in the oven to finish baking so it takes less time to cook. Then they put them in a warmer. I assume that they don't deep fry them long. I specifically asked at Cracker Barrel why I coudn't find the baked potato on the gluten...
  16. I have a friend that warned me to ask about how baked potatoes were cooked when you go to restaurants. Never thought too much about since at the time I was overwhelmed with figuring out my new diet. Two years later, I have been to two restaurants that deep fry their baked potatoes which is a source of gluten cross contamination. Who would have thought to...
  17. My pain is on the left side and I believe it is colon related. I have had this pain since I was 13. I had my gallbladder checked out 2 years ago before I knew that I had something like a diagnosis and it is operating at the minimum of normal, I think 30%?? I wonder if it ever functions at a higher % after a change of diet? I have ate some sausage and brats...
  18. I have no official diagnosis but I am gluten-free, DF, EF and peanut free. Have been feeling better until Monday when my long term side pain reared its ugly head. Today I layed on the floor after breakfast and took a stomach muscle relaxer to prevent me from passing out. My digestive tract feels like I have lesions in it. I don't have these pains often anymore...
  19. Gemini, Thanks for the encouragement. It is really difficult at times especially since I am intolerant to peanuts, eggs and dairy also. Hopefully everything will get better. Sometimes it is hard to stay positive when you read all of the "what if's" that you can get or possibly have but don't know it yet. Renaye
  20. I am gluten free, doctors are undecided whether I am celiac. I also have sjogren's too. After I started my gluten-free diet I also uncovered more food sensitivities. I went to a naturopath and discovered sensitivities to peanuts, eggs and dairy. It is very difficult and depressing. I have a modified vegan diet. I eat rice or corn noodles mixed with olive...
  21. nvsmom I have also been to a rhuemmy doctor. I have a positive ANA but nothing else. I have mouth & nose sores, dry eyes & mouth, mild joint pain in my hands and feet, crazy GI tract - terrible constipation and terrible fatigue. Diagnosed initially as "sicca" but put on plaquenil. Plaquenil has helped me get out of bed and go to work. I am not...
  22. I shop at Aldi all the time. I was wondering how safe the food is that says gluten free. I generally don't have bad gi reactions, so I don't know. Renaye
  23. I am scheduled to go back to the GI doctor in late March so I will ask him about my thyroid again. Thanks! Renaye
  24. I have been gluten-free since 4-2011 and dairy, egg and peanut free since 5-2012. My stomach is better....I wish I was tested for problems at age 13 instead of 40 when the bottom dropped out. Yes I get my eyes checked. Great eye doc and he has first hand knowledge with autoimmune diseases, so I am in good hands. My initial thyroid blood work in...
  25. I changed GI doctors and the first time I went to this one, he did ANA, celiac, thyroid panels. My complaints were fatigue, which was a new symptom and constipation that had gotten worse to the point where I couldn't go at all. The tests came back said it could be celiac, hyperthyroidism and scleroderma. Wham! So I got a referral to a rhuemmy, went...
