  1. Our Trader Joe's was out of EVERYTHING Udi's today...I hope that's not a hint that they're going to stop carrying it. No signs were up, only gluten-free bread was the FFL Brown Rice Bread and TJ's Ryeless Rye.
  2. I think I would just buy the egg whites in a carton and use what the package calls for...seems like it would be cheaper since you wouldn't be having to find a use for all the yolks.
  3. The GV beans I have seen at Walmart were all made on shared lines. The canned hominy was like that too.
  4. Costco: Kirkland gluten-free citrus body wash Kirkland gluten-free shampoo/conditioner set in pump bottles Quinoa Seeds of Change microwave packets of quinoa and brown rice (seasoned) Canned tomato products Soy milk Veggie Patties (found in refrigerated section near meats, they are vegan and gluten-free) GardenLites Veggie Muffins Freeze dried fruit...
  5. Mellow Mushroom also uses separate toppings, the employees change aprons and use a separate prep area. They made ours upside down once (I guess the crust is parbaked) and it was kind of strange, but when it's done right it's good.
  6. BJ's Brewhouse has a gluten-free menu, including pizza, and even a hot cookie and ice cream dessert.
  7. The Great Value beans I have seen say "may contain wheat." I buy all my canned beans at Aldi. They have some clear labeling practices in place at their store and items that are either gluten-free or naturally gluten-free are labeled as such on the package. Can you go there? They do have a Chex knockoff, not sure if it's marked gluten-free or not because...
  8. I really like their clear labeling. It helps me avoid things I need to avoid and make sure products are okay at a glance. Meijer has a PDF but it's huge and cumbersome...some products are labeled but most aren't. Aldi makes it easy. They have also had a couple of gluten-free special purchase items in the last month -- a baking mix, brownie mix, and frozen...
  9. The more you are able to prepare ahead of time, the easier it will be. Stock your fridge with things that will be easy to grab and reheat -- think creating your own convenience meals in Ziploc containers or the glass ones with the snap-on lids that I see at TJ Maxx and Homegoods all the time. Take a day when you feel good and do a "big cook" and then...
  10. Happy Herbivore is simple, vegan, and the majority of the recipes are either gluten-free already or easily made gluten-free.
  11. Sweet Baby Ray's Original is still gluten-free and is marked as such on the bottle.
  12. I'll withhold my excitement until I see the rest of the ingredients...hoping they are dairy free.
  13. I have an Oster blender from Walmart that cost about $25...it works fine for making me a smoothie every day.
  14. That basically tells you nothing...gluten isn't necessarily an "impurity" or an unintentional ingredient. I have issues with ingredients derived from wheat germ oil, and hate it when they aren't clearly declared.
  15. Made this the other night and it was delish... "Meatball" Subs, serves 2 2 Schar sub rolls, baked and cut but not quite all the way through...like a hot dog bun Franklin Farms Veggieballs Trader Joe's Tomato Basil Spaghetti Sauce Daiya mozzarella Cook the veggieballs in the sauce (I did it in the microwave), then spoon some sauce into the split...
  16. My husband has worked in 2 different fast food restaurants (neither was McD's or Wendy's) and he told me as well that they used separate fryers for fries because the breaded items and all the stuff they shed into the oil would make the fries taste bad. So these restaurants are going against protocol AND making a product taste bad. :-\
  17. All Trader Joe's has is hard cider, which is made by Woodchuck and is delicious.
  18. I wish our Costco had gluten free bread, but they don't. I scored a loaf of Rudi's cinnamon raisin bread with their $2 coupon a couple of months ago, while the bread was on sale at our natural foods store for $3.99. They just had Udi's on sale for that too, but I didn't have any coupons. I like Udi's better as I find it easier to get the slices apart when...
  19. I think this is an excellent point. I don't see why Domino's can't at least make an effort to minimize cross contamination risk by changing aprons/gloves, using fresh utensils, and fresh toppings from the cooler. Seems like that would be a good business move. You could still give the disclaimer, but it would open up the market to more people.
  20. Dinner tonight will be BBQ chickpea wraps...super simple, brown rice tortilla, Sweet Baby Ray's sauce, and mashed chickpeas, with spinach.
  21. Is it possible you are taking a medication for PMS or period symptoms that contains gluten?
  22. Yeah, I don't think you'll be able to roll them out, they are pretty much cooked, you are just browning and crisping them in the oven. I hadn't thought of using them as pita bread though.
  23. Mellow Mushroom does a GREAT job -- their gluten-free menu even outlines their procedure to prevent CC at the bottom. They wash up, change aprons, use separate toppings, and separate utensils, along with a screen that keeps the pizza from contacting the stone in the oven. The tofu chili is a Whole Foods Market recipe...I'm just going to throw it in the...
  24. For me the dairy side effects are pretty bad too, actually more painful, while being glutened is very itchy and then annoying from a bathroom standpoint for a few days, makes me tired/grouchy, etc. So I usually wind up telling restaurants gluten free vegan so they don't try to serve me a frittata or something. LOL But I don't eat out much anymore and mostly...
  25. I was vegan as well. I did wind up giving in on eggs being in things to open up my options a little for things like bread and crackers. So now I am an ovo-vegetarian who doesn't like eggs...since I don't like eating them by themselves or in egg-like states, and never have. Just don't care for the taste/texture. Dairy doesn't agree with my belly either, so...
