  1. I do my best to avoid touching gluten. Not because I have a reaction, I just get sick of washing my hands. I do have to make sandwhiches for the kids and their snacks. After handling I wash my hands carefully. I did get rid of my lotion, make up and shampoo that had gluten. Mostly because I got sick from licking my fingers (I was eating) after recently...
  2. Amy's sent me an e-mail this morning. I thought they had not placed the rice crust pizza on the list of gluten-free foods. I must have been wrong Here is the reply I got from Amy's Hello Hez, I am a bit confused. The Rice Crust Cheese Pizza is definately gluten free...in fact, we make it in gluten free facility! Please send us your...
  3. We eat the otter pops all the time and I have not had a problem. Hez
  4. We have sepearate condiments and I have my own toaster. We also have areas where gluten can be (only one counter and at their individual places at the table). Otherwise no gluten anywhere else. I am the one that cooks so dinners are naturally gluten-free. It has been fairly easy now that we have the routine. You will figure out what works best for you...
  5. If it helps I have had a needle biopsy before. The doctor put some topical numbing medicine on and stuck the needle in. I felt some pressure but not pain. This was several years ago, they were trying to determine if I had thyroid cancer. It really was not a bad procedure. Good luck. My prayers are with you. Hez
  6. I have eaten the popcorn with no butter at my local theaters (can't remember the names) with no problems. I did some searches on this forum. Hez
  7. I love apples and peanut butter for a snack. I also enjoy popcorn (air popped is healthy) but I like butter and salt What about a sorbet if you have a sweet tooth. Or a yogurt smoothie. I must admit when I reach for a snack after the kids go to bed it is usually something I don't want to share! This is what happens to only children when they are adults...
  8. I have had this brand before with no problems. Although it was some time ago that I had it. Hez
  9. I eat Mountain High yougurt. It says gluten-free on the label. Unfortunately, I have never asked about a dedicated facility. Sorry. Hez
  10. Tanguerey gin is safe. I contacted the company about a year ago and the gin is safe. Could not go a summer without my gin and tonic. Enjoy! Hez
  11. Hope someone else has a better memory than me! I think Ocean Spray used to be no but they recently stated that the juices were gluten-free. This happens alot! Food that used to be safe no longer is and vice versa. This is why so many of us stress reading labels and continuing to stay educated. Hez
  12. I would love to continue my gluten-free life yet be able to go out to dinner without the fear of cc. My fingers are crossed that something will happen in the next five years! Hez
  13. I live in Fort Collins and attend a support group every other month. It took me awhile to be happy with it (long story). I think the group is through the CSA? It is the "celiacs helping celiacs" people I just realized I missed the July meeting The next meeting will be in September. Hez
  14. I am the only one so far with celiac (the kids have tested negative but that can change). I am also the one that cooks. After a year I feel like we have worked it out to a science. DH feeds ds and dd breakfast, usually gluten cereal. Lunch is either from school (ds choice) or dh or myself make lunch for dd. Again this usually involves gluten. We...
  15. I think couseling would be a good idea. I know many people (including myself) that have really benefited. Hez
  16. Shortly after my dx my Mom expressed concern for my social life. Her comment was something like I hope this does not make you an intervert. And it is hard to put yourself out there. To leave the safe environment and put yourself at risk. If going out was hard on him before dx I could see how this might feel impossible to him now with the dx. However...
  17. I have to admit that I feel a bit relieved. Some validation for being on my strict gluten-free diet. I always worry about cc in my house with the kids and hubby. Looks like all of the precautions are paying off! Hez
  18. As some of you may remember I am one of the few people on the board that has tried and continues to eat oats from the gluten free oat company. I am not trying to encourage people to eat oats nor start a huge debate. I did say that I would let you know about my appt with the gi doc and test results. My appt went great. I really do not have any health...
  19. I used to live in the Bay area before my dx. I really miss it I would think that celiac awarness would be better there than other places. Hope you find some safe places to eat. Have a great trip. Hez
  20. I sent an e-mail to them tonight. Mostly, I wanted to know why the rice crust pizza was not on the no gluten list. The ingredients due not look like they have changed nor does it say it contains wheat. This is one of the few quick things I can throw in the oven after a crazy day. If they respond I will let you know. Hez
  21. I know you were asking for potatoes or pasta but how about another vegie? I have a rich yellow squash casserole (I think it is Paula Dean or Martha Stewarts recipie). Because it is rich and cheesy you do not miss out on the starch. If you want I can post the recipe. Hez

    ARCHIVED Asian Indian Food

I have never eaten at an Indian resturant since my dx, just not brave enough. In my head I thought Indian food was fairly safe since wheat is not commonly available in India. However, if they have Americanized it who knows Do you have the Dining Cards? I think there is one for Indian resturants? After reading this I realize I was of no help Hez
  23. Congrats! It is nice to have a year under your belt Hez
  24. I think there are naturally occuring sulfites in wine. The differences is with the organic they do not add any? Is this right? Hez
  25. I eat lifesavers all the time and chew trident gum. I don't think I ever contacted these companies so I can not verify the gluten-free status (probably just checked this website for gluten-free status). There is actually alot of candy that is gluten-free so it should be easy to enjoy your favorites. Hez
