ARCHIVED Going List Crazy!
hez replied to Mieux7's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
How long have you been gluten-free? The reason I ask is it might not be the products. My experience was that I would be eating products that were safe but still getting sick. The reason, my villi were not healed. I saw some improvement in month 5-6. However, before that I would go in and out of feeling bad. I was never able to connect with a specific... -
ARCHIVED Good Bread?
hez replied to Susan123's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I have to second the suggestion to try breads from Anna. They are the only bread I have tried that is chewy and soft like gluten bread. The bread does not crumble so you can slice very thin. I really love the Kinicink (sp?) pizza crusts. They come in a pack of four and our great for individual pizzas. My whole family likes them (I am the only one with... -

ARCHIVED Kids Tested Negative
hez replied to nothungry's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I had both of my children tested, both were negative. Since I make dinner that meal is always gluten-free. However, I have decided not to limit their intake of gluten. Instead I try to point out growing food and non-growing food options. In the hope that they will choose a healthy lifestyle. I have also scaled back the gluten choices they do have... -
ARCHIVED Jelly Belly Jellybeans
hez replied to debmidge's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications

Have you tried almonds as a snack? I was very nauseous when I had a ectopic pregnancy. Almonds help with the nausea and are good for you. Hez

You are so right! This time of year is about being with the ones we love. Not about food. I am feeling so much better than I did a year ago that I know being gluten-free is worth it. This is just my transition year. I am hoping to start new traditions that focus on family and less on food! Hez PS-Even after the gingerbread man disaster (my dh thought...

ARCHIVED Is It Possible To Create New Food Intolerances
hez replied to danikali's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I hope you feel better soon. I do think you could still be having a reaction from the time you were glutened. I know the second week of being glutened I am surprised by how bad I feel. Hez -

hez replied to prana's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I also stopped going to the deli because of cross contamination. I use Oscar Meyer, Hillshire Farm and Kroger brands. I make sure to always read the label (it always grosses me out)! Hez -
I think you are right. I am grieving. I thought I was done with that! I did try making gingerbread men today. Sent me into another cry They turned out looking horrible! It is hard when you have traditions that are wrapped around food. I knew it would be tough but didn't realize how bad. I do agree it will be better next year! Hez

ARCHIVED Josef's Graham Crackers
hez replied to KellyR's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I purchased some last summer for smores when we went camping. I found them to be heavy in cinammon flavor and very hard. I ended up using them for a crust for my cheesecake. They were so hard they had my heavy duty cuisnart burning! I don't think I will by them again. But taste differ! You may find that you love them Hez -

I know I am being petty and bitter but I cannot seem to stop these feelings. A friend of mine who's relative has celiac was just told she really doesn't. While I am happy for her I am so jealous. I wish someone would come along and say that I don't have it. I wish I could eat pizza and cake at my child's birthday. Part of the problem is that it is...

ARCHIVED gluten-free 'chex' Mix?
hez replied to pamelaD's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I just made some party mix! I used the corn crunch ems. I cannot get rice ones right now. Apparently there is some manufacturing problem with the rice. So I only had corn cereal in the mix. I used 8 cups cereal, 1 cup gluten-free pretzels (glutino), and 1 cup nuts. Place the dry ingredients in a ziploc bag. Melt 1/2 stick butter, 1 1/2 tsp season... -
I am waiting to hear back from the company. However, I am afraid it may take awhile. Has anyone ever had Harry and David's Pumpkin butter? Does anyone know if it is safe? The ingredients are pumpkin, corn syrup, high fructose corn syrup, sugar, salt, citric acid, ginger and natural flavors. I am worried about the natural flavors and the ginger (it...

ARCHIVED gluten-free Cream Of Mushroom Soup
hez replied to anerissara's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I have yet to find a condensed cream of anything soup. I have found several options that work well. One is that Health Valley has cream of chicken and mushroom soups that are gluten-free. As well as a creamy mushroon soup by Progesso. I have tried this Open Original Shared Link and it worked great. However, not as quick as opening a can. Hez -
Welcome to the board! I do not know of any research regarding gluten and the skin. However, I can tell you about my experience. Then you can deceide for yourself what is best based on all the posts. I had been gluten-free for several months and was not getting better. It was then that I started researching and realized gluten was in everyday things...
