ARCHIVED Help With Report
cyclinglady replied to CeeLare91's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Well, did they order a celiac blood panel? These are the list of tests: -tTG IgA and tTG IgG -DGP IgA and DGP IgG -EMA IgA -total serum IgA and IgG (control test) -AGA IGA and AGA IgG - older and less reliable tests largely replace by the DGP tests You had the endoscopy, but most times a visual shows no celiac damage. Multiple biopsies are taken... -

ARCHIVED Mom Instinct For The Win: Deamidated Gliadin Igg
cyclinglady replied to Orinda's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I think you need to discuss this with your GI. The biopsy results do not rule out celiac disease, not with her blood test results. It just maybe too early yet for intestinal damage or he missed the damaged areas as they can be patchy. Your GI may give you a diagnosis based on a gluten-free diet and symptom resolution. You can continue on and re-test her... -
ARCHIVED Probotics -kyo- Dophilus
cyclinglady replied to Tigercat17's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
There have been issues with probiotics NOT being gluten free. Read about this here: Open Original Shared Link But, I still believe in them. My doctor recommends Bio-K which is fermented from soy, dairy or rice (your choice). It must be refrigerated and it is not cheap, but it is Certified gluten-free. Doc recommends after a course of antibiotics.... -
ARCHIVED Possible Ncgs?
cyclinglady replied to Maddi's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Ask for thyroid antibody tests. That will rule out autoimmine thyroiditis which seems to run in your family. TPO antibodies can run high yet your TSH and other thyroid tests may be normal. That is what happened to me. -
ARCHIVED Possible Ncgs?
cyclinglady replied to Maddi's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Your posting is not too long! Most of us did struggle with anxiety in some form when we were first diagnosed. Even though anemia was pretty much my only symptom, I did have anxiety that I blamed on menopause (night sweats, insomnia, hot flashes, 30 day periods) which was happening concurrently with my Hashi's and celiac disease. I guess I am trying... -
ARCHIVED In Search Of Grain Free Chips For Corn Chips
cyclinglady replied to babka23's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Ah, Nachos! StIll, you can skip the chips. We make "bowls". Start with beans, layer with meat, cheese and then broil. Add guacamole, sour cream, salsa and lettuce after the cheese melts. Eat with a spoon. It is like eating a burger without a bun -- just wrap it in lettuce. We make pretty good avocado BLTs too without bread or grain. We are on a low... -

ARCHIVED Possible Ncgs?
cyclinglady replied to Maddi's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
If you have not been an anxious person in the past, have someone go with you to your doctor's appointments. My husband went to several of mine and told the doctors that I was seriously sick and it was not "all in my head". Turns out I had a non-functioning gallbladder that was never caught until it started to rot. -

Can you post the test results? Most, doctors just check for an Iga deficiency and run a TTG IGA test for celiac screening instead of the entire celiac panel. -
ARCHIVED Gluten Challenge Confusion
cyclinglady replied to blackbetty's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
You know, anemia was my only symptom at the time of my diagnosis (I was pretty fatigued from that). I already had a genetic anemia so the iron-defiency anemia was always over looked and blamed on my being a menstrating woman. My iron levels would improve with iron supplements too. I was shocked that my GI during my routine colonoscopy (Yep, I am over ... -
ARCHIVED Pathology Report - Help Me?
cyclinglady replied to KBart's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
So, her doctor told you to have your daughter go gluten free? He gave her the celiac diagnosis because she did have some intestinal damage and her blood tests results support a celiac disease diagnosiss, right? Or is he waiting to see if symptoms resolve on a gluten-free diet? It sounds like she is already starting to heal! When does he suggest retesting... -

In my case, I will know in less than two weeks because I will get a follow-up bone scan next Monday. I will be sure to report back. I hope that there has been improvement and that Cahill is improving as well! -
Oh, I get numbness in my fingertips and tingling in my legs. I am not B-12 deficient. My doctor thinks it is just related to celiac disease. Those symptoms resolve over time, but will occur when I get glutened. It happens to the best of us!
-
I am sorry that you are sick ! Everyone is different when it comes to healing. Remember, gluten triggers an autoimmune flare-up that can last for days or weeks! Just drink lots of fluids, take it easy and get lots of sleep. That is my line of defense. I hope you recover quickly!

I agree with Gemini! Take these results, along with the blood test results and get a second opinion (and not from the same medical practice)! I wish your daughter well! -
ARCHIVED On Scd? How Did You Get Rid Of Your Buddha Belly?
cyclinglady replied to manasota's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Well, the are a few reasons for my improved health. First, the gluten-free diet learning curve was not steep because my husband had been gluten-free for 12 years when I was diagnosed. So, I knew the drill. Second, our house became completely gluten-free once I was diagnosed. Our kid gets her gluten fix in prepackaged products that are consumed outside... -

ARCHIVED Tissue Transglutaminase Igg Positive - Alternate Causes?
cyclinglady replied to appletree729's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I am reading Gluten Freedom by A. Fasano MD this very minute. He states, "the determination of the IgG-based antibodies, the IgG anti-ttg antibody and more recently, the IgG anti-Gliadin antibody (DGP) is useful in patients with selective IGA deficiency." Well, you are not IGA deficient, but you did get that one positive. Anything could have gone wrong... -
ARCHIVED Possible Celiac Diagnosis?
cyclinglady replied to meaghan2's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hemoglobin levels can fluctuate depending on iron absorption if this is your issue (e.g. Adding an iron supplement). Was your iron stores (ferritin) tested? Celiac symptoms can wax and wane. Some of us never experience any abdominal symptoms. I encourage you to check out the University of Chicago's celiac website and hit the library to research celiac...
