I was looking at my previous posting today and thought I must addressed a different topic! But I did not. Though it is clear now that I was rambling! Becky, is your doc trying to address your fluctuating TSH levels? Going into a hyper stage can wreak having on your intestinal system by speeding thing up. Going hypo can slow things.

ARCHIVED Confusing Diagnosis, Would Appreciate Your Opinion!
cyclinglady replied to lasvegas's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Have you had a HIDA scan on your gallbladder? My family is cursed with non-functioning gallbladders (fails to empty) making digestion of foods very difficult and painful. Curse? My Dad is one of seven siblings, and six of them have had their gallbladders removed. I am one of 27 cousins and so far, the five eldest have had their gallbladders removed... -
Maybe a family meeting is in order? Armed with copies of your test results and some articles on Celiac Disease? With a friend or Pastor there for support? Get them to come up with ideas on how to keep you safe?

ARCHIVED Symptoms Returning?
cyclinglady replied to LeanneMarie's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Are you consuming milk products? The villi get damaged from celiac disease and are often unable to release the enzymes needed to digest lactose (milk sugar). BTW, everyone heals at a different pace. Some folks take months or years to heal. -
ARCHIVED Healing The Nerve Pain - Foods To Eat, Foods To Avoid?
cyclinglady replied to cristiana's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Alas, with a 12 day cruise, we will not be able to get to Scotland this trip! I have read all the Hamish Macbeth mystery series by M.C. Beaton and would love to see northern Scotland! I hope that you can find other pain alternatives. My mom said that Lyrica was the only drug that frightened her due to it's side effects. -
ARCHIVED Healing The Nerve Pain - Foods To Eat, Foods To Avoid?

My Mom took Lyrica for a month for fibromyalgia. Her doc always refused to prescribe it. She got some at an Urgent Care when traveling. She was desperate. She gained 30 pounds in one month! She was always hungry. She even traveled on a plane with a stash of goodies and she showed me saying, "Have you ever seen me do this before?" My response was,... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Edinburgh

Katie, thank you so much!!!! I briefly went to the forum and the first thing I saw was a recent posting about a Royal Caribbean cruise. This poster survived!!!! She actually had a great time. What a relief! We are going on the exact same ship. This has made my week and I had a pretty nice one camping at the beach, literally on the beach (coffee in... -
ARCHIVED Protein To Pack That I Can Get Through Customs From International Travel?
cyclinglady replied to esgal's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Sorry, I should not use slang. I am hopeful that Delta employees or their contractors remember to put gluten free meals on the flight. I think it will be safe. I am guessing it will be pre-packaged foods. We will not be eating an unmarked sandwich. I just thought of this....we have a recently retired Delta flight attendant in our family. She worked... -
I disagree, Colleen. Yes, your body needs some sugar, but it will convert even protein into glucose. How else did the Eskimos survive? Let's face it. The typical Western diet contains too much added sugar. We are up to 160 pounds per person in the U.S. That seems pretty excessive. Check out this lecture from UC San Francisco. ARCHIVED Help? Biopsy Results?
cyclinglady replied to SPinch03's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yep! You might be in the early stages of celiac disease. Try the diet to see if you resolve your symptoms. Stick to it for at least six months. Check out the newbie section under coping for tips and.......welcome! -
ARCHIVED Is This A Huge Issue?
cyclinglady replied to Waitingindreams's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
My husband has survived 13 years without an official diagnosis. I had the endo because I was mildly celiac on the blood test and I was already set-up for a routine colonoscopy. You know gluten bothers you. I think the blood test is enough since you have been gluten-free for so long and it is not worth doing a challenge at this point. -
ARCHIVED It Is A Huge Deal! It Is Not A Big Deal? (My Plan)
cyclinglady replied to afitgirl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
What a great plan! I think your cruise will be fine. I notified my cruise line (RC) via email. They suggested meeting with the dining room manager as soon as we board ship. We plan on eating every meal in the dining room. We did that before we were diagnosed. I want someone to wait on me all the time! Bringing snacks with me for port stops just... -
ARCHIVED I Gave Up Waiting For Insurance Approval...

I was thinking the same thing, Sweet Sailing! After all, in the old days, you would pay up-front and then submit for reimbursement. It would be worth a try. -

Thanks! We will be in The UK in just a few short weeks! -
ARCHIVED What Is Used In Endoscopy Prep?
cyclinglady replied to 1desperateladysaved's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Sweet sailing is right that there normally is no prepping meds for an endo. You would have to ask your doctor if you are having a colonoscopy as to what meds he prescribes. -
I have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis (dx 20 years). It really went crazy the two years prior to menopause and my celiac disease diagnosis. I would swing from hypo to hyper within days. Trying to figure out my Armour thyroid replacement was probably driving my doctor crazy. I worried more when I hit the hyper stage as it affected my eyes and my mom (Graves)...

ARCHIVED I Gave Up Waiting For Insurance Approval...
cyclinglady replied to Georgia-guy's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Wow! What a relief to know what's wrong with you! I know that you want to feel good ASAP (and that's your right), but think about the biopsy. I am sure it will be covered by insurance now that you have positive test results. It's good to have a benchmark to refer back to in terms of intestinal damage. But, I completely support you in whatever decision... -

The What's For Dinner Tonight Chat
cyclinglady replied to jess-gf's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I went to the senior water aerobics class Friday and hammed it up with a bunch of nice ladies. Felt that workout, too. But exercising in the water is definitely much much easier on my joints, I will continue it for sure. -

Jamie, Glad you are back! I can not have eggs either, but can eat them in baked goods. I keep testing it (last 20 years) but no luck! Made a soft-boiled egg two weeks ago or so, and it made me sick. Ugh! Tonight is grilled pork tenderloin, salad and some asparagus. -

Maybe or maybe not....I would not count on it. Some food intolerances resolve, but some never do. But we can always hope! -
ARCHIVED Diagnosed 5 Years Ago, No Symptoms. I Don't Care Anymore.
cyclinglady replied to elliott34's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I was just anemic and had Hashimoto's thyroiditis . No tummy issues. GI doc caught it during a routine colonoscopy pre-op visit (yep, I am old enough to qualify for one of those). Three months later, I had two vertebrae fractures. I had to stop riding my bike! I had to worry about falling while running! Less than a year after my celiac disease dx... -
ARCHIVED Symptoms - Starving All The Time
cyclinglady replied to Monkeygirl1337's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Monkey girl, Have you been tested for type 1 diabetes? Celiac and type 1 share the same genes. What exactly does "my blood sugar is crazy" mean? If you do have celiac disease, you can be malnourished and hungry. You need nutrious foods. Since your mom does not cook, looks like you should learn. There are plenty of people on YouTube who can show... -

No. I have diabetes that has been diagnosed a year after going gluten free. Perhaps you have reduced grains, sugar, starches in the last week?
