  1. I think a registered dietician who specializes in Celiac would be great. I know around here it is a very competitive degree program and there are few positions available after graduating. But, RD's are very respected, however I'm not sure about the pay.
  2. These are specific to Edmonton, so I'm not sure how helpful this will be. OPM has a separate gluten-free menu. It is available on-line. Sicilian Pasta Kitchen (southside location) has rice noodles as a substitute and their tomato sauces are safe. Their cream sauces are not gluten-free. I was talking to someone yesterday who eats Wendy's baked...
  3. If you look at the Kettle website, it was last updated in 2006. So, they may not have put the new information up yet. So, we'll see I guess if it's too good to be true. I woul really love some safe chips.
  4. Hey, that sounds like my job from last summer. My new job for this summer is similar; lots of field work, hotels and camps. My life saver was staying at Super 8's because they have fridges and microwaves. I brought a cooler for the shorter trips and prepared a few suppers, like pasta salads. Freeze dried gluten-free camping food is good because you...
  5. This is basically the same thing that the above posts stated, but I'll add to them anyways. I was "diagnosed" with IBS. I was sick most of my life and in my early thirties I had enough. My bloodtests were both negative for celiac. But, I don't even know if the full blood panel was run. I gave the gluten-free diet a try and I have been feeling great...
  6. If you are interested in the toxin levels in american foods; there is a really good book called, "Diet for a poisoned planet" 2nd Edition by David Steinman. I found it a very interesting read. He uses research for many of his arguments. In the 2nd edition he retested foods from the 1st edition to see if the toxin levels changed. I would love to research...
  7. It sounds like you would need to inquire further regarding the product she uses. That's my assumption, not much help, I guess.
  8. For me, I buy organic free-range chicken and my conscious feels better about it. First, if you can afford it, organic tastes really great. Second, at least I know they had a quality life before they went to market. I only buy one or two chickens a month. This gives us three meals of chicken. Then I make stock/soup with the leftover carcasses. I also...
  9. I just looked at their website. I wish I could get this product in Canada. That is my kind of product.
  10. That is great news. I've been missing potato chips.
  11. I did a Google search for Soy Crisps and I found more than one brand each of which was called Soy Crisps. One of the websites was useless; it had no ingredients or allergens listed.
  12. Pharmacies and doctors have the "bluebook" which lists all the ingredients of most medications. I don't know if this would help since I don't know what kind of info. you get with your on-line orders. Could you call the manufacturer of the drug and ask them? Most drugs have a 1-800 number or an e-mail/website address.
  13. Yes, it is a really great and much needed feeling of joy and relief. Thanks for all of your help and support. I've tried to give him magic bags and the like, but he's not interested. He just wants to be alone and every so often he'll cuddle up with me or my husband. He also curls up in a towel-lined kennel.
  14. Here's an update on my furry guy. Last night he had the water from my canned salmon. Then he was still hungry, so I gave him a little taste of butter. Then he wanted more food so I gave him a little milk. He was still hungry, so I rushed to the only grocery store that was open late and picked up some sardines. He loved them. Today we didn't give...
  15. I sure could! I'm losing a lot of salts in my tears.
  16. I appreciate everyones kind thoughts. We had a really tough time giving him his fluids tonight. He's just skin and bones. I don't know how much more of this I can take. I've had diarrhea for a week. I'm not eating much and I'm skinny so this is very bad. I'm really depressed and to top it all off I start my new job on the 30th. A job where I'm...
  17. Thanks everyone for your support and advice. I am a basket case full of worries for him, so all the extra tips help put me at ease. Tuna water is about the only thing he'll eat without being forced. LOL
  18. Thanks for the pm. He's allergic to chicken, but all your suggestions are great. They gave mae lots of needles. I left the fluids (NaCl) out last night because I wasn't sure whether to refrigerate. But now I know. Also, the vet didn't tell me if I should give fluids everyday. He's extremely jaundiced and obviously he's dehydrated. His liver is so...
  19. I haven't heard of any. But, maybe someone else knows of one.
  20. I have to give my cat sub-Q's otherwise he will die, basically. Am I supposed to store the fluid bag in the fridge? Also, any tricks to administering the fluids would be helpful. We got him started today and it took a few tries, but we managed to get about 100mL in him. Also, he's not drinking or eating. I don't want to stress him too much all at once...
  21. That is a very good reminder for us. It's important to read ingredients of products you buy all the time because they may change the formula without us knowing.
  22. Do you buy human-grade sardines? When my cat recovers from his poisoning maybe I'll try and introduce sardines into his diet. I'm sure he would love them.
  23. I always apply it right after I shower, but I am just a potent girl. Oh well Nature's Gate works for now. I try to limit the chemicals in my house too.
  24. This is my theory. Because we don't feed them live rodents, birds, etc. they need something else to help with their digestion. For instance my cat seems to need the green peas and rice bran for fiber. Dry food is not much like a warm fresh mouse. I know, I'm a kook, we'll just leave it at that.
  25. I cook it normally and bake it just like you said. It still tastes great a few days later. You should have no problems with what you described.
