  1. I've wondered a few times if something was going on with my eyesight. I will see people on the street or in a store, and think "There's _____ (someone that I have known for years)." The more I look at them, the more I think, I don't know if that is them or not. Maybe this is something that I need to bring up to my eye doctor??? Cindy
  2. Welcome to the board, Jane - I know it has to be hard for you, not knowing what to do to make your child feel better. Hopefully, after the blood test, you will have some answers. There are so many different symptoms, that it makes Celiac so hard to diagnose. An Endoscopy does not always show what they are looking for. When biopsy's are taken, only...
  3. Several years ago I had to have brain surgery for a meningioma. This is a benign brain tumor. When I woke up from surgery, I discovered that they had shaved my head! I was so thankful that the tumor was benign, that I decided it is better to have grey hair, then no hair.
  4. For the most part, you have to watch out for chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream and other flavors with crumbs. I'm sure that there are probably other things to look out for as well.
  5. Have a great time - you deserve a break. I'll miss you while you're gone. Cindy
  6. Thanks for the info - you are great. I read this thread last night, but I didn't hear about the information on the news until this morning. Cindy
  7. It's a good idea to get a new colander. The gluten is impossible to get out of all of the little bitty holes of your old one.
  8. My brother was diagnosed with Celiac several years ago. About 1 1/12 years ago I developed chronic diarrhea. I asked him what made him go to the doctor, and what symptoms did he have that that helped diagnosed him. He told me that he had really smelly gas. My first thought was that don't all men? Cindy Welcome to the board. (This post was...
  9. Sometimes I add garlic salt, frozen veggies and some chicken to a "10 min." cook-in bag of white rice. It makes for a quick meal that is easy to clean up. You can also add boullion to the rice to give it some taste. Herb Ox is gluten free. Cindy
  10. Herb-ox Boulllion cubes are gluten free. I also can add garlic salt. Sometimes I put Kraft shredded cheese on top and nuke it in the microwave. Be careful, some brands of shredded cheese contain gluten to prevent caking. I also mix the rice with cooked frozen veggies. Cindy (too)
  11. I always wash my hands with soap and water and dry them with a paper towel after feeding my dog. Cindy
  12. Welcome! I know that you will find this board as helpful as I have. When you have a question, just ask. Someone will find out the answer for you. Cindy
  13. I was in the hospital for almost 2 weeks after a hysterectomy with complications. I did speak with the dietition before I was admitted, and was very pleased to say that I was not glutened. They even had a gluten free menu! I did avoid the pasta dish that they had on the menu because I was afraid that they did not have a dedicated colendar. The only complaint...
  14. I love your haircut. Nate has the biggest blue eyes I've ever seen!
  15. I think one of the girls I work with is trying to do me in... Even though she knows that I have Celiac, she got me some hand lotion with Vitamin E and Wheat Germ!!! . Actually, my favorite present was spending time with good friends and family. They really went out of their way in preparing the Christmast meal to make sure that I didn't get glutened....

    ARCHIVED Wendy's

I've never had a problem with Wendy's baked potates, but I ask them not to cut them open for me. Who knows what else that knife has touched. I thought the problem with their salads were the dressing. Does anyone know if the dressings are gluten-free?
  17. About 6 years ago I had D for about one month, several times a day. I went to the dr., and had a colonoscopy - nothing showed up. It went away, and everything was fine for about 2 years, and then the same thing happened again. 1 1/2 years ago it started again. this time it was so bad I was going 20 - 30 times a day, and I lost about 30 lbs. (that...

    ARCHIVED New Here!

Hi Regan! I have been gluten free for 1 1/2 years. If it wasn't for this board, I could have never done it. Everyone here is so helpful. We've all been through some of the same issues, so it's a great place to come for support. Some of the things that I've learned here I would have never thought of on my own. I have learned to check with manufacturers...
  19. Usually It is just me that I'm making dinner for. I have been living on Purdue ShortCuts, Success rice (cooks in bags in 10 minutes) and a a package of frozen veggies. I sprinkle a little bit of garlic salt on it. That gives me dinner, and lunch for the next day. It's quick and easy to clean up, but I'm getting really bored. Does anyone have any suggestions...
  20. I do shop at Whole Foods in Baltimore, but it is a bit of a trip for me to get there. A few times I got there only to find out that most of the gluten free baked goods were out of stock. Now, I call about a week ahead of time and ask them to place an order for me. I order a case at a time and keep them in the freezer - because I don't get there very often...
  21. My son, who was about 5 at the time wanted me to buy a camping trailer. I told him that my car could not tow a trailer, and that we we would need a pick-up truck to do that. I explained that it would cost a lot of money to buy a camper and a truck. He said "Just write a check". If only it were that easy. Cindy
  22. I work for a local County Health Department, and I would tell you YES - YOU SHOULD SEE A DOCTOR, AS WELL AS REPORT THE BITE TO YOUR LOCAL HEALTH DEPARTMENT. Not to scare you (too much ) This is not something to fool around with. The Health Department will probably recommend that the kitten be quarantined or that you receive post exposure Rabies...
  23. Welcome - and good luck! Cindy
  24. Welcome, Amy - This is a great place to come for information and support. Cindy
  25. Karen, I have been really down today...I needed that Cindy
