  1. I've already posted before how my husband is unsupportive. He thinks I am obsessed and over reacting. Sometimes I really hate him and want a divorce. But I am young and have no support system without him, so if I left, I'd be screwed. It really pisses me off how trapped I've become. His dad got pancreatic cancer (linked to celiac disease) and is...
  2. I had emailed them too a long time ago and never heard back. I had to stop using them anyway since they contained lactose. Hopefully, someone here knows. Otherwise, if a company isn't respectful enough to respond, I'd say take your business elsewhere. If you can tolerate taking calcium in a pill form, there are pleny of gluten-free suppliments out there...
  3. No, I don't eat these or injest these on purpose. Search other forums. We've had this discussion plenty of times.
  4. Thanks.
  5. mmmm. they are so yummy. thanks for posting this info. i have denied myself dried fruit for so long b/c i read somewhere that there is a contamination risk... now at least i can have raisins.
  6. celiac3270, What Scott did you mean? There is only one on the board and he has no idea what we were talking about.....I just got an email from him.
  7. Here's the list. I thought less people would be interested - although they are great products, most seem to choose more easily recognized brands. Anyway, here it is. GLUTEN? THE FOLLOWING PRODUCTS MAY CONTAIN GLUTEN. PEOPLE WITH CELIAC DISEASE MAY WANT TO AVOID USAGE OF THESE PRODUCTS. Hard Head Hairspray ...
  8. I have to avoid corn too. I use Futurebiotics multivitamin for women (free of corn, dairy, gluten, etc), though I am sure they would have a gluten and corn free version for childern or younger folks if that one isn't appropriate. Also, I take Country Life (free of corn, gluten, dairy, etc) calcium and biotin, and they make a ton of various vitamins too...
  9. I appreciate it.
  10. For those of you that worry about soaps, lotions, etc., have any of you looked into gluten free perfumes? I did a search on the forum and found very limited info (its brought up as a possible gluten source, but that's it). Any help you can provide is appreciated. Also, if I have time this weekend, I will send out emails to my favorites - like Banana...
  11. Hi, Just wondering if and how we can change user names? Mine was a bad choice - if fam. ever come on here, they'd catch on to me pretty quickly and I'd rather remain anonymous (sp?), even to them. Any ideas?
  12. Wellshire Farms makes a gluten-free kielbasa, you can sometimes find them at a health food store. Not sure about any of the brands below.
  13. I've heard that you have to be careful with some companies, just in the sense of contamination of their "gluten free" flours. I use Bob's red mill brand b/c they regularly test their gluten-free flours for gluten. I'm sure others can suggests brands that they feel are safe. What brand was it that you used?
  14. I get pain all over as well, though esp in the upper stomach area. Sometimes its so high up, its near my diaphram.
  15. I've had bad results from known contaminations. I'm reading this book now called "Dangerous Grains" and the authors mention that people with a gluten sensitivity/celiac disease build up a tolerance to gluten, which may be why so many don't get sick for years, but after going gluten-free, that tolerance is gone and we get sick on noticeably smaller amounts...
  16. Yes, I do experience those symtpoms, and so do many others on this forum. I am not sure how long it takes for them to go away after being gluten-free - I thought I had been gluten-free for a while, but recently found out that this was not the case, so I am still symptomatic. If you have been gluten-free for a while, try double checking your foods, and if...
  17. I would agree with KaitiUSA. Double check hand soaps, lotions, and if you want, hair products (though I realize some feel this is taking it too far and you should only worry about food). I thought I was gluten-free for a year (with some confirmed mistakes - like a bad soy sauce, bad yogurt, bad chips), but I have been sick for the past 4 months on and...
  18. I talked to my derm this morning. Although his knowledge of celiac disease was limited, he said that he thinks celiac disease is linked to women's hair loss by Telogen Effluvium and celiac disease-related stress on the body. TE is a disruption in the hair cycle based on hormonal or nutritional problems and will cause a fluctuation in hair loss as well ...
  19. Figures. But, when I looked at the ingrediants on the Superstar, there was nothing suspicious, that's the scary thing......
  20. Thanks, Claire. I had seen hops listed as gluten-free and know that it is not closely related to wheat. I just wasn't sure if there was an issue with processing (like there is with oats).
  21. I am going to see a new dermatologist about my hair loss tomorrow and was planning on bringing up that exact question. Not that there is a guarentee they can answer it, but I will let you know. In my mind, I can think of multiple ways it'd be connected - hormonal imbalances from celiac disease (ex. thyroid issues), malabsorption, immune system attacking...
  22. Quite the opposite actually. I have been glutened on and off for the last 4 months or so and couldn't figure it out. I had gotten to the point where I didn't want to try any new foods until I got the rxns under control. Turns out it was likely a hair product that appeared fine based on ingrediants. I'll find out in a few more days if that's what I was...
  23. Do a search for posts on makeup searching your brands. There have been lots of posts on this topic. Burt's Bees Lip sticks are gluten-free, that's what I use. Also, all the "regular" flavors of Chapstick brand chapstick are gluten-free.
  24. I'm glad I saw this post. I had bought the brown rice crisps thinking everything looked fine. But, then I decided that I had had enough with mystery glutenings and I wasn't going to risk it. I gave the box to my husband (not celiac disease or gluten-free)....he's not too excited about having to eat them.
  25. I appreciate it. I just found out a hair product of mine had wheat in it, so I apologize for possibly blaming Walmart for something that they didn't do. I plan on keeping the pepper off my food for about a week and then will add it back to see what happens. Thanks again for the help.
