I myself am not pregnant though would not like to completely exclude that option for myself in the future. So, although I can't help you, I am very interested in the responses you get. According to my docs, even without the biopsy, I am dxd (finally) as celiac disease. Does this mean I should avoid having kids (rather than risk bringing a sick child into...

ARCHIVED What To Cook For Turkey Day?
bluelotus replied to racergirl435's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Would you mind passing along the spinach recipe, stuffing recipe, and gravy recipe, I'd love to see those. I think you've posted some recipes before, so if they are up, just let me know. -

ARCHIVED Cranberry Sauce?
bluelotus replied to VydorScope's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Tiffany, what brand of pomegranate juice do you use? I've been meaning to call POM to see if they are gluten-free, just never got around to it. Thanks! -
ARCHIVED Please Help Asap !
bluelotus replied to Judyin Philly's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I would agree with the above posts. Check on the eggs and dairy. Eggs give me very bad stomach pain, similar to indigestion or acid reflux but worse. -
Open Original Shared Link Not sure if this will take you to the old discussion, but it was started by Claire and can be found under "coping with" forum a few pages into the lists of topics. Lots of good info there....

ARCHIVED Bacterial Infection From Hades
bluelotus replied to bluelotus's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I finally found out what it was (after getting them to release my medical records)...it was Clostridium difficile toxin. This bacteria is found normally in the GI tract and when it gets overgrown, can cause illness. This bacteria commonly affects those taking antibiotics and will often cause diaherra and illness in hospital patients b/c of the overuse... -
I had my nails sent off to a lab, and it was psoriasis. mine looks like i scratched up my nails with sandpaper and could be easily confused with fungus. psoriasis is related to celiac disease and if you get your gluten under control, it should improve (mine seemed to). there are creams available to help with this too. you can also get this on your toenails...

There have been lots of post on hair loss in women and celiac disease, check the "related diseases and research" forum (i think that is the name)...not feeling very good at the moment, or I would go into more detail for you. i am 24 and have been losing my hair for 4 years, though not too noticeable. the hair loss started before the celiac disease diagnosis...

ARCHIVED gluten-free Product Updates
bluelotus replied to eeyor-fan's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I didn't like Coke's response. They should have listed the products with possible low levels of gluten or that had gluten derived ingrediants. -
ARCHIVED Bacterial Infection From Hades
bluelotus replied to bluelotus's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
They are pretty certain its not food posioning (I hadn't eaten anything out of the usually that would have caused problems). I thought maybe it was caused by the fact that we had a work lunch at a restaurant and I had been breathing in stuff there (though I brought and ate my own food)....like a glutening or something. But, the docs agreed that it wasn... -
Hi all, I went into the emergency room the other night with extreme vomiting and diaherra (and I mean extreme) - felt like the girl from the exorsist and thought I was going to die. When the docs first saw me, they suspected a viral infection b/c I guess one is currently going around (at least where I am) with very similar symptoms. They just called...

ARCHIVED Does Anyone Else Get The Worst Gas
bluelotus replied to danikali's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I forgot to mention the belching....a completely new symptom that I developed in the last few months. I was being glutened in small amounts by various things (unknowingly), and during that time I started burping......hasn't gone away yet, but its only been 2 weeks (at most) since being glutened. -
ARCHIVED Chilli Ingrediants
bluelotus replied to bluelotus's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Good thinking about the beans. Maybe my next chili attempt will be without them. I have given up on most processed foods out of fear that I might react to them (gluten contamination or hidden glutens)....and I am hoping with all my might that this wasn't a gluten incident....I don't want to give up canned veggies too. Still working on that eggroll recipe... -
ARCHIVED Chilli Ingrediants
bluelotus replied to bluelotus's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Thanks, Wendy, I'll have to try that if I am up for braving chili again. Not sure what bothered me, but I am still not feeling well.....not fun. jenvan, I haven't tried egg rolls, but that would be a great recipes to have since all packaged varities have wheat. I will look through my gluten-free cookbooks and see if I find anything. -

ARCHIVED Still Having Diarhea But Gf
bluelotus replied to melisadki's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi, Sorry to hear that you are not 100% yet (I'm not either after a year, but that's my fault). I just wanted to mention, if you take Lactaid, call the company. I asked them for a list of their gluten-free Lactaid products and all that made the list was their milk. Someone else in the forum was able to find more info on the Lactaid website (I think... -
ARCHIVED Annatto
bluelotus replied to JoeB's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I apologize, I may have misspoke. The list I have here says annatto is safe for celiacs, but I swear I remember reading that gluten may be used in its processing. This would have been a year ago that I saw it..... Sorry for all the confusion, but it appears, based on what's listed now, annatto is safe. Let me know if you find any other information. I... -

ARCHIVED Chilli Ingrediants
bluelotus replied to bluelotus's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Here are the recipes: Vegetable Tempura 1 egg, beaten (I use egg replacer) ¼ cup cornstarch (I use potato starch) ½ cup rice flour (sweet rice flour is best) ¼ tsp xanthan gum 1 tsp. seasoning salt (I usually skip this b/c you never know with spices) salt to taste ½ tsp baking powder 1 cup Fresca, 7UP, or Sprite 3 cups vegetable oil for dee... -
ARCHIVED Annatto
bluelotus replied to JoeB's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Search the site index and the forbidden/safe food lists. I think that they used to mention gluten may be used in annatto processing...... Good luck with your search! -
Good advice, but I don't really eat the high calorie stuff except the gluten-free enjoy life cereal. I gave up on the bread, donuts, and all that b/c the taste wasn't all that great....kind of felt like a waste. Oh well.....guess my body is just happy where it is.

ARCHIVED Glutened By Cereal Again
bluelotus replied to Rachel--24's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I don't understand why its only some of us either. The 'old school' way of avoiding gluten was to read the ingrediants and that has seemed to serve most just fine. That doesn't cut it for me at all. I was fine for a few months at first when really restricted my diet, then I started trying the supposedly gluten-free things like you all and was getting sick...
