I have a mild case of it, and haven't done anything about it. My other two sisters have it as well, but not severe enough for a brace. My mom and her mother also have it, and both also have a severe hunch back. No confirmed dx of celiac in any of us though, just my daughter so far. I've been gluten-free for three months now though, and feel great. This...

ARCHIVED For Anyone Pondering A Caesin Free Diet....
taweavmo3 replied to taweavmo3's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Hi Shannon! Emmie does love her yogurt and cheese, but as long as she doesn't see it in the fridge, she doesn't miss it. I feel a little guilty for cutting out more food that she loves, but it really seems to be helping. Each day, she says something else that amazes me. Her sentences are much more complex, even my 6 year old noticed a change. The... -
ARCHIVED Gingerbread Recipe For Gingerbread House Needed
taweavmo3 replied to PrincessLEah's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I'm in search of one too. I've been doing gingerbread houses with my kids for three years now, it's always so much fun. I always just bought the houses pre-cut, or I used graham crackers. I don't know what we'll use this year......but I'll have to find something! -
ARCHIVED Peds Celiac Training
taweavmo3 replied to jams's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
What great news! I hope more and more doctors become informed, what a blessing that would be. I was also recently surprised by my ped.....I made an appt. to have my other child tested, and he was also completely on board with it. I was all ready to defend my reasons for requesting the test, but he readily agreed, w/out a fight! I think he too is pretty... -
ARCHIVED Annie's Rice Mac And Cheese
taweavmo3 replied to jmengert's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
At the stores here, it is in the same section as the parmesan cheese. I love this stuff, makes it just as easy as the box version. -
ARCHIVED Kraft "policy" To Not Tell gluten-free Or Not
taweavmo3 replied to discountshopper's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
No, no.....don't boycott Kraft! I know it's hard in the beginning, but you will soon love Kraft! They really make shopping easier, I promise. You don't have to figure out any complicated ingredients with them, you just have to read their label. If you don't see any of the forbidden ingredients (which they will list in easy to read bold letters), then... -
ARCHIVED For Anyone Pondering A Caesin Free Diet....
taweavmo3 posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I've recently put my daughter on a caesin free diet, and it has been so much easier than I ever expected. It's been alot easier to cut out than gluten was. I noticed that Emmie's speech seemed to be getting worse, and the only change in her diet was that she had been eating a large amount of dairy. It's only been 5 days, but I am noticing a change.... -
ARCHIVED Toddler Has Presitant And Spreading Rash?
taweavmo3 replied to VydorScope's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Glad you found out what it was...hope he's feeling better soon! I did the same thing a while back, Em was sick, and I was *sure* she had been glutened. She had a high fever, and later broke out in a rash. Turned out to be plain ole case of Roseola! -
Just wanted to throw another idea your way. I'm fascinated with the "Opioid Excess Theory" and the neurological impairments it incurs. This may be related to brain fog as well, not completely sure. I believe the opiate effect is why my little girl is so developmentally delayed, and also why her speech regresses when glutened. My dd's pedi GI told me...

ARCHIVED The Gluten Free Pantry
taweavmo3 replied to sdore's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Love, love these brownies!!!!! I've tried Pamela's before, and thought they were just okay. But GFP truffle b's are awesome. And, the mix makes quite a bit, which is a nice change! -
ARCHIVED Annie's Rice Mac And Cheese
taweavmo3 replied to jmengert's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I don't use the Kraft powder that comes in the box, although some people do. It just makes me nervous being in the same container as regular pasta. Kraft sells the cheese seperately in a skinny blue shaker tube. It is gluten free, last time I bought it. It's been a couple of months though, so of course, double check before you use it. -
ARCHIVED Blood Sugar Question....
taweavmo3 posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Do any of your kids get uncontrollable and extremely angry when hungry? I know most kids whine, throw tantrums etc when hungry. But here recently, my little girl has been completely out of control, then once I get something into her she's fine. I tried to run into Walmart to do a quick shop right before lunch. Once in the store, she starts winding up... -
ARCHIVED Annie's Rice Mac And Cheese
taweavmo3 replied to jmengert's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
We didn't like the Annie's or DeBoles mac n cheese. The baby took one bite and spit it out, cracked me up since the kid is usually a human garbage disposal. We also use Amy's or Tinky w/velveeta or Kraft cheese powder in a tube for a quick lunch. -
Isn't it blissful when you find a place like that to shop???? I have a place like that too, and the first time I went in there I really wanted to hug someone. This store has everything, and a very knowledgable staff to boot. Congrats to you!

ARCHIVED Our Follow Up Gi Appt.....
taweavmo3 posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Just wanted to share some good news about our follow up appt. It has been 8 months since being dx'd....and my itty bitty girl has gained 11 pounds, and grown 4 inches!!!!! She is still little, at 35" and 34lbs, but now it's a "cute" little, instead of "deathly ill" little. If that makes any sense at all, lol. I know all you moms and dads on here can... -

ARCHIVED Little Miss Bottomless Pit
taweavmo3 replied to Nantzie's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Yes! My little girl always ate a ton of food before being dx'd. It was a joke in our family about how Emmie was always digging in the pantry. My 18 month old was the same way....for breaky he could eat 2 whole cereal bars, a banana and a cup of milk. Or he'd eat his entire dinner, then come to dh and I for what was on our plates. I remember bringing... -
ARCHIVED Our First Gf Thanksgiving
taweavmo3 replied to Kailynsmom's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
This newbie would love some recipes too! These will be our first gluten free holidays. Since my daughter is still healing, I am so nervous about her getting glutened.......so, crazy me volunteered to do t-day and Christmas at our house. What was I thinking? My family isn't too difficult, since my mom and brother have recently gone gluten free. But dh... -
ARCHIVED Puts Things Into Perspective
taweavmo3 replied to Bonnie's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I just wanted to say how sorry I am about the loss of your brother. Lean on your family, and support each other. I lost a sister 15 years ago, and I remember thinking the hurt would never go away. In time it has, but I still think about her everyday. Take care, and big hugs and prayers for you and your family. -
ARCHIVED Gluten And Child Development?
taweavmo3 replied to VydorScope's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Well, I have to jump in here too! We definately have a speech and memory regression with a glutening. My dd does exactly what Jnkmnky's son does....she forgets the names of simple things. For frog, she says "ribbit", but can't remember the name. She also forgets the names of family members, or she'll get their names mixed up. I also don't think it... -
ARCHIVED Headaches
taweavmo3 replied to DylansMom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My little girl gets headaches after a gluten accident. They seem to come and go for a while. There was one point where she was holding her head and screaming.......really freaked me out! I've had headaches myself since I was 5, and one crazy doc had me on Tylenol w/Codiene at that age. So, I'm assuming headaches are a common symptom of celiac. One... -
ARCHIVED Dd And Self Going Gf Tomorrow
taweavmo3 replied to Eeyorific's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
You can do it, I promise. We are on a very tight budget, and we are all gluten free at home. My husband can eat all the gluten he wants while away, and my 6 year old has gluten at school. Our dinners are very simple, usually a meat, veggie and rice, potatoes or beans. We also make taco salad quite a bit, for variety. Like Nini said....we do pot roast... -
ARCHIVED How Long Until I Would See Some Results?
taweavmo3 replied to loveday's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Just wanted to add one more thing to my novel of a post under your first thread! I was told so many times that my daughter would catch up...I got so tired of hearing that, I felt like screaming. Then I heard "well, she's a second child, her brother probably talks for her". Then I heard that we probably aren't talking to her enough...or that we aren't working... -
ARCHIVED Am I Allowed To Swear?
taweavmo3 replied to loveday's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Well, in our case, my daughter's developmental delays have been slowly progressing. She has been gluten free for 8 months, but I would say that only recently have I begun to see some major improvement. However, she still has a LONG way to go. She still functions much like an 18-24 month old, and she still speaks in a lot of jargon that most of us can not... -
ARCHIVED Is Chilldren's Tylenol Gluten Free?
taweavmo3 replied to e&j0304's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Yikes....that's a pretty high fever! Don't know about the Tylenol, I usually just have Motrin on hand. But, I just wanted to say that I hope she feels better soon. I hate it when my kids are sick! Take care.
