  1. Okay - my BIL writes a song for me and my Mother (both of us have Celiac). Think of the song from Flashdance - 'She's a Maniac, Maniac..........ok got that? Here are the lyrics that fit that tune I'm a Celiac, Celiac, don't you know And I can't have me no gluten anymore... I'm a Celiac, Celiac, that's for sure And I gotta do my shoppin' at the hippie...
  2. Awesome Ruth53 and thanks! I have never worried about my thyroid until last year when they checked it when I was actually anemic and the pcp missed that....but she said then over a year ago my thyroid was great. Now that I know I had a very dangerous B12 def. pre Celiac dx and therefore started having lots of neuro symptoms, I learned docs don't always tell...
  3. Okay now you're talkin'....love my 'eggamuffin' and used to have it about once a month, then switched to BoJangles biscuit b'fast when they opened close by. Then I saw Supersize me and that totally turned me OFF of MD's. But when traveling out of town in early morning, I think I may get an eggamuffin (no bread) and hashbrowns. My MD's staff are intelectually...
  4. After you help Donna with her test results, please tell me if mine are anything to be concerned about. My pcp ran a bunch of tests that I asked for after finishing Dr. Green's book. My doctor admits to knowing little of nothing about Celiac and I can't get into my new GI until late April. My TSH level is 1.676 - range being 0.350 - 5.550 so I guess it...
  5. Well I had read somewhere about Loreal having some gluten-free lipsticks so I called them today. The woman was really really rude but told me that their Endless kissable, Endless 8-hour and Colour Riche Gold lipsticks are gluten free. She mentioned some glossed that have gluten but I have nutrogena glosses already so I ignored that part. Sorry I forgot...
  6. Nisla - I don't know what to tell you but one of my closest friends in CA told me her Mother died of stomach cancer...I thought it was breast but that was after it spread from stomach to throat to breasts. The woman was dead at 67. I think your idea is worth a try and could prolong your Mom's life but don't be surprised if the pcp doesn't get on board......
  7. Patti - I'm so upset about your Mother's doc as well. At least Mother's pcp asked what tests to order, made copies of the info I sent down there and ran the whole panel. Only one of my Mother's test came back positive for Celiac, just like my test. Tell your Mother this and then tell her my biopsy showed significant damaged villi and classic Celiac sprue...
  8. Thanks everyone....surely some others will post but if not, I'll give MAC a try and maybe BE too. I'll call about one shade of each of those lines and see if I prefer one brand over the other. I liked Revlon, through that all out when they told me they didn't know what was in their make-up and then I kept some Coverl Girl until P&G retards sent me that...
  9. Vincnet - you are sooooooooo funny! We are total girlie girls (okay at 42 and 63 I guess we can't pass for girls anymore) and proud of it so we unlike you mister....can not do without lipstick. Still looking for answers other than Lumene or Neutrogena if you don't mind.
  10. Well everyone who knows me here knows I sort of hate MD's for many reasons but I have to question...if you eat their fries (I said if you do) and don't have problems can't you eat their hashbrowns too? MD told my Mother today that she can have their fries and their hasbrowns so that's why I read this thread. Thoughts or reasons why MD hashbrowns are or are...
  11. So far two companies have told me they have some gluten-free lipsticks - Lumene and Neutrogena. I have 6 from Lumene and two from Nertrogena. I have to mix several together to get the color I want. I think Bare Essentials and Bare Minerals have some gluten-free lipsticks (but not all) but does anyone know of some other cheap (drugstore brands) that you found...
  12. Nisla - no worries....I knew you weren't really upset with me but were like me so aggravated you couldn't type striaght! Ha ha! I was like that this morning on the phone....in total disbelief....then I hung up and got so mad I could not see straight!
  13. Just so you know I found out that AIDS has been linked to damaged intestines...I guess that's common knowledge in some communitites but I never knew before reading one of the Celiac books...think Dr. Greens but I mailed that to my Mother today so I can't confirm just now. My money is on Celiac in your case obviously...just shared the info as I found it interesting...
  14. Wait! Why are your furious with me Nisla....because I didn't post the docs name/#? I don't even know her last name or her practice name plus here is the main problem. This idiot pcp is my Mother's close friends' daughter. So it's a very awkward situation and I'm washing my hands of the whole thing. How many times can you tell your family members that not...
  15. I saw this article on another site so I printed it and into the gluten-free goodie box for Mother it went. Did yoy notice the comment of up to 30% of people having some issues with gluten? I knew it was much bigger than even suspected so far.
  16. Thanks everyone....glad I was not just overreating. My husband just called and I told him what happened and he said 'I think that's bordering on malpractice'. And you know he's right! Not that we're ones to sue but still - if this doc tells others this untrue info, she is perpeturating an out of control problem regarding Celiac and proper diagnosis of it...
  17. My money is that you are experiencing perimenopause. I got the book 'What your doctor may not tell you about premenopause (starts even before perimenopause). I'm only 42 and this book changed my life. Got it for $2 plus frt. (less than $6) on amazon .com. It offers natural remedies instead of rx meds and my doctor even encouraged me to follow the books advice...
  18. I know Jen - I just had to unpack my gluten-free goodie box for my Mother that I was mailing along with Dr. Green's book. I had to find all the malignacy info parts of the book, flag it and then highlight it so she can show her freakin' idiotic doctor. And this doctor is so up to date Celiac testing that she highlighted the Celiac gene info she found in her...

    ARCHIVED Amazing Stupidity

Okay - every time I find out about an idiotic remark made by a doctor regarding Celiac disease I think it can't get wose. And yet is continuously does. My Mother told her pcp that only Asian-Americans have a higher risk of intestinal cancer if they have Celiac disease.....ummmmmmm let's see that's NOT true and most Asians in Asia don't have Celiac since...
  20. Thanks everyone that read and replied to my lengthy post. Nisla I'm so glad you mentioned that the choc. fountain choc. is recirculated.....that didn't even occur to me! Of couse they had pound cake and rice crispy treats so IF the choc. was safe, I could have had some strawberries and maybe a marshmallow with it before anyone else since I was there early...
  21. Laura and Idahogirl - thanks for the soup thickening tips. Never cooking except during the holidays, I struggle with the simplest things in the kitchen. I am starting to really enjoy cooking finally 6 weeks in. I'm going to make a green bean casserole this week with some italian green beans that I'm crazy about. No more canned green beans for my casseroles...
  22. Today I attended a tea party for my close friends 40th b-day. She had it catered and I had to take all my own food. I knew there would be tea sandwiches and scones I could not have....only the tea (yes it was gluten-free), honey, strawberries (not from caterer so no gluten preservative on them -yea!) devonshire cream and champagne were okay for me to have...
  23. For bread mix try Breads from Anna...we made it without a bread machine but it's much easier to make in one. For prepared bread Kinnikinnik can't be beat. Their Italian white tapioca rice bread is the best bread substitute I've had to date. Heard their bagels were great but havn't found them yet. The GFP (gluten free pantry) mixes are great, pie crusts...
  24. I had a disturbing conversation with someone today. She told me her son is lactose intolerant and if he has a tiny bit of lactose (say ice cream) he will break out in a rash that sounds like DH to me. Elbows/back of knees...looks like a heat rash. He was not formally tested for LI as he was or is too young. Okay, now Dr. Rudert said that LI can mimic Celiac...
  25. I love too many things about my hubby to list here but I will have to list one thing: after almost 17 years of marriage, he finally puts paper towels down on the counter when he makes his sandwiches for work...hence no crumbs to make me sick. For years I asked he do this as I'm a bit of a neat freak but no....that's too much trouble. The morning after my...
