  1. At my grocery store I picked up a gluten-free Blueberry muffin mix in with the pouch martha white mixes. Those are something I had through my childhood so I picked one up and it was pretty good. Only made 5 muffins which is just enough when you don't need to be eating a giant batch. Full of articifial crap but good for a nostalgic treat, haha. There was...
  2. Stubbs BBQ sauce and Salt Lick BBQ sauce are gluten-free. Salt lick also has really good salsa. They may be local to the Texas/southwest area but darn tootin' they are good!
  3. Welcome to the forum! RMJ gave some very helpful info above. The best way to get additional pieces to the diagnostic puzzle would to be to go see the GI and get an endoscopy done. Make sure they get at least 6 biopsies as recommendedOpen Original Shared Link. That way they don't miss anything as damage can be patchy, and you definitely need something...
  4. If you are trying to do it and can't afford the whole diagnostic workup, Karen's suggestions of a public clinic or research hospital are good. If you can't find something like that, you could do one blood test at a time to let the results trickle in, and you may get something indicative enough of Celiac disease that you are comfortable calling it that without...
  5. Agreed with the above. Clean any gunk out of crevices and you are good to go. No need to replace pots and pans unless they are seriously gunked up and can't be cleaned.
  6. Yeah, that isn't gluten coming out. It may be mucus, which can happen around stool when you are very constipated as it irritates the GI tract. Probiotics alone are probably not enough for the constipation. Take a look at the links below for some ideas on foods that may assist in loosening things up gently. Also, a fiber supplement or even foods like prunes...
  7. LOL!!!! Heard all of these, kinda sad thing. haha
  8. Yes, there are people with this genetic type that have celiac disease. Go to the main page of the forum and search "one copy of dq2" and there will be many threads to read through that may give you the information you need.
  9. Yes, you can have one copy of the DQ2 gene (referred to as heterozygous) and get Celiac disease. That gene is not one where you have to have two copies for it to present itself, so having one means Celiac can be a possibility. Of course, having the gene alone does not mean you have Celiac disease, you do need to get other testing done to see if Celiac disease...
  10. That is also a good idea what Bartfull said. I tell my husband he can have his gluten outside of the house, lol. And he does, when we go out.
  11. Pamelas is my other favorite pancake mix! For some reason the recipe on the bag seems to be way too much milk for thick, fluffy pancakes. Hold back like a third of it if you like your pancakes thicker. I really like the taste of those the best.
  12. In the USA, caramel coloring is made with corn, therefore does not contain gluten. There are many other things in processed foods that may cause digestive distress, but it is not from that ingredient, as it does not contain gluten. Here is a great index of ingredients that may be more reliable for your use: Open Original Shared Link
  13. Pick up some gluten-free Bisquik and make that pancake recipe. I have fed that to gluten eaters and they didn't mind at all. As for the airborne flour issue, I think your suggestion of mixing it outside is the best practice to avoid any airborne gluten eventually settling all over the countertops and exposed clean cookware. If the griddle is a perfectly...
  14. Last night we had grilled chicken, baked sweet potatoes, and green beans. Tonight I am making red beans and rice and will have some carrots on the side.
  15. According to the University of Chicago Celiac Disease Center, there is no valid science to support claims of cross-reactivity with certain foods. Of course, if you feel better not eating a certain food, then don't eat it. Also coffee can be very irritating to an easily upset GI tract and may aggravate discomfort in some people. But that is a separate issue...
  16. While I am glad you feel better, do know that there is no existing product on the market that has enzymes that actually break down gluten. Most of them are just a mix of digestive enzymes that can aid in general tummy troubles. Some of the products make claims that you can safely consume gluten with their pill and that is not correct. You are better off...
  17. They are not around DFW area of Texas yet. I heard they were on the west coast. But every time I pass the tortilla section I look, hope they come out nationally!
  18. That stew sounds delicious! Last night I made spaghetti for dinner, with salad on the side. Used those farmrich meatballs you find in the frozen section. Tonight I will be tired after my immune infusion so a Freshcetta gluten-free pizza it shall be!
  19. You say that you threw up after two days and were instantly better. It can be hard to tell sometimes whether you have been glutened or you have caught a virus or some other foodborne illness. We can get those, too, so sometimes you just won't know what caused something. This is why it is important, though, to remember it isn't always gluten. So don't...
  20. Welcome to the forum, Charmane! Do note that this thread is from 2006, so these people are probably no longer active on the forum. However it is interesting that gluten gives you the hiccups. Definitely get tested before trying a gluten-free diet, too.
  21. This!!! This is sooo important. If you use the review sites, post your own reviews identifying yourself as Celiac to pay it forward. Thanks for bringing that up.
  22. Sadly, it doesn't surprise me that this is happening to a gluten-free food company, even if it is a good one. They have a heartfelt notice posted on their website about the situation that explains that their creditors didn't like the fast expansion rate of their small company. Sadly, I predict more companies will end up like this. Hopefully Better Batter...
  23. I like all their stuff that is gluten-free. Very tasty. Some brands of sweet potato chips get it wrong, but theirs are very right MMMM!
  24. Nausea and vomiting are definitely possible symptoms after gluten exposure for a person with Celiac disease. Here are a few good sources that list vomiting as a symptom: Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link
  25. Welcome to the forum, C.Reez! I made your reply to this thread into this new post, since it is its own topic that we can all relate to, and that thread dates back to 2007. That way you will get more people in to read and converse. This is an issue that all people with Celiac disease can relate to. People with Celiac disease are plastered with the...
