  1. They also have a gluten-free pamphlet in the store as well. I was hoping I could find some taquitos or something Mexican that was gluten free, so far I haven't had any luck with that.
  2. Next step is the gluten free diet. If you want to tell your doctor you had him tested elsewhere and got back positive results then do so. Chances are you'll get pooh-poohed if they here it is from Enterolab. You don't need anything more from the doctor on this issue, you've gotten the test and results from dietary changes and now it is time to move on...

ARCHIVED I Am Done With Dr's

Oh yeah, there are people who continue to eat gluten even when they know 100% that it is harming them. Getting your family interested in their own health, when it comes to giving up a favorite food... forget about it! I told my entire family and urged them to get tested. None of them want to do it. Very frustrating.
  4. I really regret I didn't have the presence of mind to contact the Hospice earlier than I did. I was talking to them on the phone right when my father passed away. :\ My Mom appears to be nearing the end of her life now, I will definitely get them involved earlier this time.
  5. Here's one: Open Original Shared Link
  6. I always think this is so bizarre. What do they think will happen if you go gluten-free and see how you feel, your nose will fall off? Ultimately there just is no good test that can tell you whether or not you are sensitive to gluten but not so far along you have damaged villi. That's the role a dietary test (of exclusion) can play. Gosh, a few weeks...
  7. I think gas comes from two places: 1) Air you swallow 2) Bacteria in your gut digesting and fermenting things and creating gasses When I'm doing well, avoiding grains and complex sugars I don't have gas, when I do, it doesn't stink. I think it is Type 1 gas. It's maybe a poot or two each day (that I notice). When I'm cheating like mad, eating...
  8. I would suspect negatives tend to not post their results. But I have seen a few here and there.
  9. Ah yes, the salmon reminds of another breakfast. Sometimes I make salmon patties. I have a recipe from "The Garden of Eating" that is divine, but if I'm in a huge hurry I just used dehydrated onion, eggs, salt and pepper and throw in some dried parsley. Make it up ahead of time, cook the patties until done and then store them in a fridge. Take them out...
  10. I get these wonderful chicken/turkey sausages from Trader Joe's. They're delicious and big and don't contain any fillers that I can't have. I usually have a couple of those for breakfast. They're pre-cooked so all I have to do is microwave them. Another breakfast I make is eggs. I dump a couple of raw eggs, a little olive oil into a container. I...
  11. I suggest that you don't eat any sweets or starches between dinner and bedtime and make sure you get a lot of protein with dinner. That might help with the blood sugar. Adopting a low glycemic diet might help you avoid getting diabetes.
  12. I just got tried the chocolate milk, I thought it tasted really good, but it is a bit too sweet for my tastes. I got 6 quarts of the plain milk but I haven't tried them yet.
  13. Fatigue can be a big player in any autoimmune disease. So there might be something lurking there that hasn't been found. I found that after getting off both dairy and gluten my fatigue got a lot better. But I also discovered I have an autoimmune disease, and I'm getting that treated, so it might be that as well.
  14. If you go gluten free and opt to have all the blood tests and stuff to diagnose celiac, you'll almost certainly have a false negative. However, what I did was exactly like you. I said, "Hey, maybe this is related to gluten sensitivity". I went gluten free and felt MUCH better. Then I went to enterolab.com and got tested. Found out gluten and milk are...
  15. Celiac disease is believed to be a cause of diabetes and I know a lot of diabetics have BS problems at night. Could you stop the drinking?
  16. It isn't the disease I hate so much as the lack of diagnosis and the cumulative effects it has on our health. :\ And the lack of acknowledgement of a non-celiac gluten sensitivity.
  17. Given the high probability that there exists a non-celiac gluten sensitivity, something many of us have figured out even if our doctor's haven't, why not just try the 2nd child on a gluten free diet and see if it relieves their symptoms? I think there's a lot to be said for the entire family going gluten-free to support the family member with a gluten...
  18. I use the meat grinder and sausage stuffer the most. But I also got an ice cream maker, the shredder, the food mill and pasta thingie.
  19. Not really. They still think I'm whacked. Not only that but frustratingly none of them are interested in trying to solve their own health problems which are probably related to the same issues. Be prepared to live life as a someone whose dietary choices seem eccentric to everyone else.
  20. I don't know what, if anything, they use to "wax" apples. I just know that ripe fruit off the tree feels waxy but it is natural to the apple. It washes off. Apple peels contain a lot of pectin, if you're sensitive to pectin it could be that you're reacting too.
  21. Thai food is similar to that. In fact, that whole SE asian area has lot of good food choices for us folks. I'm such a huge fan of the cuisine of that region!
  22. I don't know. I've kind of wondered if anything else might be happening since I've had my thyroid nuked. I didn't get the eye swelling at all. I do know that Graves can go into remission and never be a problem again. I guess we should look on the Internet and see what other folks say.
  23. According to the US labeling laws it shouldn't have any ingredient that isn't listed. At least, food won't. But things like OTC drugs might be a bit different. Some people, like the SCD peoe, think the Codex rules apply, but I don't believe they do in the US. Its the FDA rules and they're pretty specific. Of course, look how McDonalds didn't reveal gluten...
  24. Flour!?! We always used starch, like the liquid starch for laundry, or Mod Podge or glue.
  25. I have up cream in my coffee after getting the casein sensitivity diagnosis. But the best one I tried without milk was the soy creamer. Still... it was only a hollow echo of the glory that is cream-in-coffee.
