  1. Jeesh--fer the most part, one could hear a pin drop around here Anywho, fer those still checkin in.....I'm taking advantage of Mark working late to start cookin fer the trip. I have a huge batch of ham and scalloped potatoes in the oven (some for later, some to freeze in to indy portions), mashed sweet potatoes wif maple syrup and butter, zucchini...
  2. That's very good to know! Thanks for sharing that
  3. I remember it as looking a lot like pea soup Becci, I would give the doctor a call regarding the vomiting blood just to be on the safe side
  4. Have a phun, saphe trip Rah-shell! I'm sorry I said your hubby was acting like a fart--he really came through for you!
  5. How about using the word "absolutely" far too much when a simple "yes" would do nicely??
  6. I'll have you know it's work to fracture the language the way we do over there! I'm normally very particular about my spelling, grammar, and punctuation so I usually have to go back through what I have just typed to "silly it up". It's fun, though, and can take the edge off of a bad day Come join us!
  7. Did you try here: https://www.celiac.com/articles/227/2/A-Lis...ters/Page2.html I found this on the list, maybe she could point you in the right direction: Syracuse - Support Group Contact: Ruth Wyman Central New York Celiac Support Group 263 Roxbury Road Syracuse, NY 13206 Tel: (315) 463-4616 E-mail: jwyman1@twcny.rr.com.
  8. Hi Laurel, I can't use Bare Minerals either--it makes my skin itch. What I attribute it to (and this may be true for you too) is the bismuth that they use. I switched to Everyday Minerals, which do not use bismuth. There is a mammoth thread here about the line. https://www.celiac.com/gluten-free/index.ph...eryday+minerals This is their site--...
  9. That kale recipe looks great, Liz. I'm going to try it. I tried fixing kale once, but I just sauteed it for a few minutes in olive oil and garlic and it was just too tough--I also didn't know to "devein". Do you just remove the large center one?. We liked the taste, though so I want to try again.
  10. Em--just noticed the new av!! So cute
  11. According to their website, it looks fine to me Open Original Shared Link
  12. Liz, it's so good to hear how much better you feel these days. I have to tell you that this is almost exactly what I usually eat for breakfast! Sliced banana, a couple spoonfuls of almonds I've chopped in the food processor, blueberries, plain greek yogurt and a sprinkle of cinnamon. Really good and filling!!
  13. I hope they decide to order it for you! My favorite gluten-free cake mix is "Cause You're Special". It's harder to find, but the Lemon is to die for and I add spices to the white and it makes the best spice cake I've ever had--gluten-free or not. Thought I'd mention is case you ever see it
  14. I use Oscar Mayer Low Salt Bacon. I've never seen the Butterball.
  15. Definitely use plastic wrap to roll out the dough.....the first time I made it, I made the mistake of flouring the counter as I always had with wheat flour and ended up using a spatula to get it off. Also, it's a bit more crumbly after it's baked than what you may be used to but it's really good and worth the extra attention, in my opinion
  16. Rae-schell--Once upon a time, Mark and I were shopping with our 2 little kids--the younger one was about 2. This kid was an ideal child--sweet, quiet, well behaved, didn't cry or carry on excessively.....a little joy. He was slow to walk, and had only been mobile for maybe 6 months at this point. He was right there with us and his brother, when we...
  17. Grrr-rrr-rrr (((Hugs))) I'm sorry hubby is being a fart. I would probably ask him what it's like to be perfect As for yer MIL.....when I was your age it would have really bothered me but now I have no patience for mind games. I have the utmost respect for people to believe as they wish, but loathe when they use it to try and shame others. ...
  18. Ok, I get it now I guess if the mother is set against you sharing her kitchen it would be very difficult for you to stay safe from cross contamination--no matter how well intentioned they are. It's too bad she can't meet you halfway, but in the end it's her home..... I see there are others who will be on-campus for the holiday. Making dinner for...
  19. Enjoy!! A couple tips--use a large pot and bring the salted water to a full, rolling boil before adding the pasta. Stir often while cooking, and begin checking for doneness several minutes before the label indicates. I don't rinse--I find the pasta stays hotter and whatever sauce I'm using sticks better.
  20. I vote for the brown rice pasta--we love Tinkyada Brown Rice Spaghetti.
  21. I put beef and veggies in the crock pot....haven't done that it in a while I made a lot so I can freeze some individual meals wif the trip coming up.
  22. And posts afterward I dunno Em..... You could saute onion and peppers, throw in some pasta sauce and the chicken and serve it over some rice or pasta. I love to do big salads--wif lettuce, chicken, olives, veggies, crumbled bacon, cheese....etc. I like that so much I always make too much chicken
  23. Yes yes yes!! It takes a little planning, I'll grant you, but why should you stay alone for the holiday?! I quoted Mtndog since I have the same advice--make your own safe meal for Thanksgiving dinner (doesn't have to be elaborate, but something that you love), and then go food shopping while there and ask that you can share the kitchen for the rest...
  24. Happy Happy!!! Hope it's wonderful
