  1. In addition to all of the good advice above, I found that cutting out all processed foods and even the gluten-free grains made a huge difference. Maybe go to a diet of whole, natural foods (meats, fish, eggs, veggies, fruits) until you're feeling better. Then, try adding foods back in, one at a time.
  2. I live in Burlington County, too! I have been to the Whole Foods in L'ville--it is huge. I normally go to the one in Marlton--it's smaller, but they're doing renovations on it now. I"m actually finding that everything I need I can get at Wegmans. A new one opened up in Mt Laurel a few months ago, and it's great! I even get my hair and skin care products...
  3. Sounds like you've got a good doctor there! Take care, and let us know
  4. Hi, I just do a cut and paste.
  5. Are you sure it's related to the gall bladder removal? I ask bacause my husband has a herniated navel. It sounds like what you are describing. His doctor told him that he should have it repaired, but that it wasn't urgent or serious. He's planning on doing it, but not right now.
  6. Ouch!
  7. I *know* that my TMJ was caused by dental work Back in 1996, I cracked my front tooth right after we moved to NJ. I didn't have a dentist here yet, so I called around and got an appt with one in the area. He did bond my tooth for me, and also discovered a cavity in one of my molars. I had it filled, and my bite wasn't right. I had to go back...
  8. Like I said Rachel--we're Celiacs--we've all had a toilet behind our heads before! No biggie
  9. jknnej--Thanks so much! That's great that this was the answer to all of your symptoms. I do plan to persue this further. I'll let you know--thanks, again
  10. Thanks Nikki. Six years? Wow--so they are not something that you necessarily have to come off of? I've tried to do this naturally through diet, etc. but I'm watching time go by and there's still that nagging undercurrent. I'm sure that you understand. Sorry to hijack this thread with my own problems--maybe I should start one!
  11. Yes, I believe that Penguin was trying to completey understand the situation so she could be of more help. We're all in the same boat here--this is a safe place to come and ask questions, ask for help, vent, or anything else. It can be easier to misunderstand someone's intent when we only have the writen word to look at--not the person's face and...
  12. I don't think you sound like a broken record! I'm very interested in how you figured this out. I do suffer from anxiety, and although I haven't had a panic attack since going gluten-free 14 months ago, I still get terribly anxious (to the point of being paranoid) when glutened. Even when I feel fine, I tend to over-think everything, have palpatations,...
  13. Hi Judy Your post made perfect sense to me! I think you better uncross your fingers, toes and legs *before* you go swimming! I think it'll work better that way Have a good time--talk to you later!
  14. Hey Chelsea--that's great news! I had a feeling that once you were off the gluten again, the weight would come off. So, the preventative meds are working for the stomach migranes? I guess only time will tell with that.
  15. Yes, the symptoms can wax and wane over the years--some of us who had it for many years prior to Dx can look back and remember periods of time where we were symptom free. For me, it was the teenage years, up to my late 20's. I also had periods of feeling well after being given Decadron (long acting steroid) injections for "inflammation"--in my 30's. ...
  16. I do the same except I use just the potato starch--I'm sensitive to grains. It also works fine.
  17. LL--Love ya for that! I'm really glad that you're feeling better out of that apt. Whatever it was there that was making you so sick--good riddence to it We lived with my in-laws for several months once while we were waiting for a new house to be completed. We already had our 2 kids, but I do remember feeling a little "funny" about doing...
  18. I'm with you, Nancy! I'm intolerant to most forms of plant protein. It would make things so much easier if I wasn't! I seem to feel better and am able to hold my weight steady eating some meat with every meal. Thanks for the link
  19. I didn't try to get on during the night when it was down, but yesterday (Wednesday) the board was loading very slowly and it still is this morning. What's with that?
  20. I was thinking the same things. Glad it's over, Lister and that you're back home. Take it easy tonight--get some rest.
  21. Cheese is a tough one, I have to leave it out or avoid recipes that depend on it. I substitute Spectrum Organic Shortening in baking and olive oil in cooking for butter. For milk, I substitute Vance's Dari Free. Since it's a powder that you mix with water, you have the option to use it dry, mix it thick like cream or thinner like milk. I always...
  22. Hi Sara. I'm sensitive to eggs. About 4 hours after I eat them, I get horrible nausea. This lasts for hours. I can get away with an egg in a recipe, for example, one egg in a cookie recipe that makes 3 dozen. The problem happens when I eat just eggs, like scrambled eggs. I've had this for many years--it's the one sensitivity that didn't begin...
  23. I always loved how I felt after Accupuncture. Very relaxed. (Except the very first time--I felt queasy all the way home!) But after that, always good Glad it's doing well for you so far, Carla I KNOW! What the heck happened!
  24. I know, that's why I took it off--it looked a little unfriendly.
  25. Rachel--The famous "toilet picture"--is there anyway to crop it so the toilet isn't so obvious? I'd love to see it--sounds intregueing Being a Celiac board, the toilet won't bother anyone, anyway. We're used to those! I put up a different picture of myself for about 5 minutes, and didn't like it so I went back to the flower. Judy was quick, though...
