  1. Hi Marissa, and welcome to the board There really is no answer as to how long before you'll get relief. A lot of people feel much better right away, and then--for a variety of reasons--backslide to having some of their symptoms again. For me, it took a good 3 months before I was having more good days than bad. Anxiety is a symptom of Celiac,...
  2. Carla--I was wondering how you were doing. Good for your husband getting you in right away! She sounds like she understands a lot of this "gray area"--normal tests, sick person. What she said makes sense--I would love to find a doctor like that.
  3. Donna, you poor thing! That pain sounds absolutely horrible--not to mention the nausea and dizziness I'm thinking positive thoughts for you for your appt today--let us know, if you're up to it
  4. I'm sorry that happened, and you are upset In the future, I would suggest you just bring your own food--don't ask first. You don't need someone else's permission to eat your medically necessary diet. Last month, we went to visit family (5 hrs away). I politely, but firmly, told the two people we'd be staying with that I'd be bringing my own food...
  5. Could it have been the water?
  6. Hi Laura, Gluten-Sensitive Enteropathy is another word for Celiac. This report means you have Celiac Disease. I don't think any further testing is needed. Of course, he may want to do testing for other things. I was diagnosed by biopsy alone--I never had the blood testing.
  7. Wow Julie, this is great news!
  8. Carla--I have to agree with being tested for B12. I know it's not on the regular panel--my doctor had to specify on the order sheet for it. Celiacs can have Pernicous Anemia where they can't absorb the vitamin from food. The sub-lingual or pills wont work for this--only injections help. A few people on the board have this and could be of more help...
  9. This is the place to lament--so never apologize for that! You actually sound a lot like me--lots of food intolerances, high, but controlled, blood pressure, and lots of aches in my shoulders and neck. I don't know what to offer except stay 100% gluten-free, try and identify and stay away from the other irritants, and get as much rest as you can...
  10. Welcome home, Nikki! When you get all settled back in and rest up a little bit--you'll have to tell us all about it.
  11. I use Badger Balm--I find it at Whole Foods and Wegmans. Before I bought any, I called the company and the woman there told me that since they had gotten so many inquiries about this, they checked into it and their products contain no gluten. I've had no problems with it--the lip balms come in little pots and in stick form.
  12. Yes--that's what I was thinking I used F5 and Julie is still Julie
  13. Julie--Yea, if the makeup burns, and you've noticed a pattern--that must be it. I understand the "denial" aspect--I continued to eat chips that I suspected were sometimes making me sick! I really liked them, and didn't want to give them up, too. But once I did, it made a positive difference. I guess.. With me, it's hard to figure out sometimes ...
  14. Wheat germ oil = gluten. Sorry about your lip product
  15. After 2 months, I think the naturopath is a good idea--certainly can't hurt. You're not anemic, are you?
  16. Sorry, Carla --whatever it is has really got you! Today is the first day I've felt like myself in almost a week. Last Wednesday, I think it was, I tried a Lara Bar--hadn't had one in a while. I was in the bathroom within an hour, but worse--I've been an emotional wreck ever since! Foggy, woozy and even a little paranoid (ask my husband or Judy ...
  17. Hi Ryan, First, I want to say that I'm glad you feel safe here--I do, too. The trust issue is a tough one. I think that it takes time to trust again once there's been a breech. You've been married/together over 3 years now, and although this is individual, she should have a good idea about how you really feel about her and your marriage by...
  18. Wow! I'm glad that you finally got relief, too! Sometimes, I thought the itching was going to drive me crazy. It's like my eyes have "calmed down" now, and are completely normal looking.
  19. Carrie--Yes, please don't be a stranger here! Julie--It could be the makeup--but it has the opposite effect for me. I think my skin looks better since I've been using it. Also, I would suspect the cod liver oil, only because I get face oilyness and breakouts from soy oil (Crisco). Carlson is a great brand--very pure. Before I gave either...
  20. Good luck tomorrow, Stephanie--let us know how he does
  21. I had eczema on my eyelids for about 15 years. It's completely gone now, I believe that it was a combination of the gluten-free diet, cutting out the other foods I'm intolerant to, eating overall more healthy (less sugar, no corn syrup) and switching laundry detergent and skin care products (no SLS or other harsh ingredients) In the time I had it, I tried...
  22. Yea, definately read the label and call. The thing that bothers me is that two of us got two different answers when speaking to them. I remember that call too, because it was one of the first that I made. The man I spoke to was so nice, and I thought, knowlegeable about this. I went to the store and read the label, and I could swear it had no suspicious...
  23. Even in my gluten eating days, I always preferred white pizza with olive oil, cheese and spinach.
  24. Interesting. When I called last fall, I was told that there were no gluten ingredients in the basting solution. I guess it depends who you talk to....at any rate, I'm glad that I ended up buying a fresh turkey with nothing added. This is not good news, though.
  25. Good one, Celia It reminds me of when my mom always said to wear clean underwear in case you were in an accident and everyone at the hospital would see them! I know! I've been trying to figure out how to do this on my own--it's tricky! Things tend to turn out rather brick-like Leah, Today had to be very difficult for you...
