  1. That would be fantastic, Lister!
  2. Hi--I'm glad you found us, too! Welcome Although corn (which is also a grain) dosen't cause villi damage, it can cause symptoms in those sensitive to it. There are quite a few of us here who are intolerant to corn. I can't tolerate it in any form--I get GI issues similar to when I eat gluten. I would omit it from your diet completely--it...
  3. And all this time, I was blaming the poor dryer!
  4. Shirley, I wish I didn't have to sweat the small stuff. I've been sick for a very long time, and simply being gluten-free dosen't cut it for me. After spending most of the past year trying to figure out the causes of my symptoms, with the help of my allergist, I have figured out that I'm intolerant to many foods in addition to gluten. One...
  5. So, I guess you weren't surprised! Or phased? Shoulda known
  6. I actually eat a lot of fruits and veggies now. Mostly cooked, but I do eat a large salad every day for lunch. I don't get gas and bloating unless I add in the foods I'm intolerant to. (and there are a lot of them!)
  7. I have no idea about the time change between here and France--is it even the same day? But, yea--he'll be surprised, to say the least.....
  8. I buy and drink spring water, but if I were on a plane, I would drink the Dasani water--it's better than getting dehydrated. Also better, in my opinion, than soda. In a situation like that, for a relatively short time, I can't see where it would hurt anything.
  9. Yea--and you weren't even on here when it happened
  10. I am, too--and it dosen't bother me in the least!
  11. But Jess, the clinician *did* involve the child. Playing a "trick"--no matter how thoughtless or cruel--on a co-worker is one thing. But she crossed the line by involving the child. In my mind, the Supervisor has good reason to 'freak out' about this. I'm the same way when it comes to confrontation, but in a case like this, I would definately have...
  12. 1 1/2 hours and counting He did not mention the pretzels--I thought about that later and wished I'd brought them up specificly. He did say that they went over all of the ingredient lists that they use at this facility, and there was no gluten on them at all. He made a special point of saying that as the production guy finished reading them, he said...
  13. My gosh Jess, that's horrible. I can't believe a "friend" did that to you. Overreacting? Not at all--they should be ashamed of themselves. For once, I'm speechless--I'm sorry that it happened to you
  14. guhlia (sorry I keep spelling your name wrong! )-- I bought a bag of the chips and had a bunch of them about an hour ago. The store that carries them here is a small, independent grocery store. They had the chips, BBQ chips, Cheese Curls and Pretzels. The chips are really good--and so far I feel fine. Since my reaction time is 2 hours, I won't...
  15. Jen's right--it's really hard to describe how something tastes because we're all different. In my case, the Vance's is about all I have, so I guess my opinion is a bit jaded I can't tolerate rice or soy milks--they make me very sick. I can use Almond milk, but I personally find the taste a little strong for a lot of things. Although it does make...
  16. Hi brizzo--welcome to the board! You sound like a hoot Seriously, at this point, any blood or endoscopy testing would probably come out negative since you've been gluten-free. You could go through Enterolab--they do stool tresting for gluten intolerance. You don't have to be gluten-free for the tests. A lot of people here have gone through...
  17. Julia-- I was so excited about the possibility of a gluten-free chip, that I just called them! I spoke to Bob King, the Manager of Production. He took my number, checked with his production guy and called me back--their whole line of snack foods made there are gluten-free! The breads and rolls are made at a separate factory 6 miles away...
  18. Yup--Lynne, time to come clean!!
  19. It has a mild, slightly sweet taste. It's actually good in cereal, and I use it as a creamer for my tea. For creamer, you mix it up thicker. (1/3 cup to a cup of water) I also use it for mashed potatoes, scalloped potatoes, in baking--really anything that calls for milk. The taste is not exactly like milk, but it's mild enough to mix into things and...
  20. Perhaps the warm water of the shower brings them out--and you're right that it's something else going on. Just a thought. I used to get itching with no visable rash or hives before I was diagnosed and even for the first few months gluten-free. It would frequently be worse after a shower.
  21. Julie--I called them "thongs" beacuse the company rep who sells them on QVC (where I order mine from) always calls them that. Actually, she makes kind of a joke out of it, so it sticks in my mind. But they go on your feet--not elsewhere! I love Tim and Faith, too! I missed them on Oprah the first time, and caught a little of it yesterday--the cooking...
  22. I use Vance's Dari Free--it's a potato-based milk substitute. It is free of dairy, gluten, grain, oils and nuts. Open Original Shared Link It's a powder that you mix with water, so you can use it dry, or mix it up thick or however you want. I even use it in my ice cream maker!
  23. Ha--My GI is right around the corner--on Midlantic Dr! My GP is down the street--where Main St. meets Marter Ave. I only live 15 minutes up Rte 295 from there. Small world I'll be at Wegman's either tomorrow afternoon or Sunday. Have to get my organic bananas BTW, my husband works in Moorestown Mythreesuns--check out the "Natural Marketplace...
