  1. Yep, the days of us taking everything thay say at face value is over! I only wish I had taken more of an active part in my healthcare years ago--but I was raised to believe that doctors know best A new day, indeed!
  2. The only one of my first-degree relatives that was tested is my mom. She has a lot of symptoms that point directly to Celiac. I printed out the Celiac Blood Panel, and the info from the NIH and sent them to her to bring into her doctor. She insisted on going to her GP--evidently didn't feel she wanted to "bother" with a GI. Anyway, turns out they...
  3. I get very strong reactions to perfumes--but I don't think it has to do with gluten. The last time I wore perfume was many years ago--I wore it to work, and about an hour into the day, I felt extremely faint, managed to make it to my boss's office, and passed out. It probably got to me once I was inside for a while. To this day, walking into a dept...
  4. Yes, Colgate Toothpaste is gluten-free. As Ursula said, you may be reacting to another ingredient, or you were glutened by something else altogether. It's so hard sometimes to pinpoint the cause of a glutening.
  5. Hi Marcy, welcome to the board Hormel Cure 81 Hams are gluten-free, as are Cook's Ham. (Both of these brands will list any gluten clearly in the ingredients) Herb-Ox Boullions are gluten-free. You'll become a great gluten-free cook in no time! Check out the Recipe forum for tons of great ideas--and don't hesitate to ask any other questions...
  6. I used to get flu-like symptoms, too. Back then, I just thought I got sick a lot The day of my biopsy, they took my temperature before the procedure, and it was 101. I was afraid thay would cancel, but they didn't. I had visable damage that day, and the doctor told me to begin the gluten-free, lactose free diet immediately.
  7. Nicole-- That is good news! I'm so glad that, at least, the MS has been ruled out.
  8. For the absolute safest nuts, I think you'd be better off buying them still in the shell and shelling them yourself. I buy Diamond Almonds, in the bag--whole and sliced, and have had no problem at all. For roasted Almonds, I have verified by phone that Fisher Roasted, Salted Almonds are safe.
  9. Hi Nicole, Sorry, but barley malt extract = gluten I'm not a cereal eater, but maybe someone else knows of a gluten-free one that would be similar to the Chex?
  10. Hi Tavi--my money's on the chips. Hope it passes quickly
  11. Carla--Interesting on the basic diet being good for the adrenals. I had such a turnaround after I did this. It didn't happen right away--it was little by little until one day recently I realized that I wasn't so tired and my stomach was much better. This fits into what your doctor said. I'm going to do some reading on the subject, check out your links...
  12. I had a reaction to them. I know a lot of people eat them with no problems, but they made me sick within about 2 hours (my usual reaction time). I don't have good luck with chips, in general
  13. Jen, I'm sorry that you're still feeling bad I know how diligent you are with the diet, and your health in general. I wish I had a suggestion for you, but you seem to have the bases covered, test wise. I was getting a lot of the same symptoms (especially the fatigue-it was unrelenting)--long after I was gluten-free. There were so many days...
  14. I think Pilates is wonderfully relaxing. Didn't you say that you do it? I love the "stretched out" feeling I get afterwards.
  15. I wish I could help--I've never used the rice paper, so I don't know how it would hold up in the fridge all night. My guess is that it would work fine--I always do as much cooking as I can ahead of time. Good luck with it all
  16. Hi and welcome! I know that Maybelline Mascara has wheat germ oil in it Sorry, I don't know about the other 2 products.
  17. Chelsea--What is their doggone problem, anyway? Edited to get rid of the bad word
  18. So glad to hear it! I was worried about you--you sounded absolutely miserable.

  20. Dimmer switch Good idea, Donna. How are you today--better? Howdy neighbor
  21. I'll live on your street! Today, it's cool here--I put a hoodie over my t-shirt, and just had a cup of tea! Such a relief after all of the hot, humid weather.
  22. I also thought that Tums were not gluten-free, but that regular Rolaids were?
  23. Could you compare the two labels (sausage and soup) and see if there were any suspicious ingredients in common? MSG, maybe? Just a thought....
  24. Well, now you know, and don't have to wonder about it any more. I'm glad that you discovered this before there was any lasting damage to your intestine. This should hopefully, make a full recovery quicker and easier for you I really have to hand it to ya for going through with the whole challange--you're one tough cookie
  25. You're very wise, Gina
