  1. Another good book for someone new to the gluten-free diet is "Wheat Free Worry Free" by Dana Korn. That and "Dangerous Grains" are must reads--IMO
  2. Thanks, Vincent--we're so concerned.
  3. Hi Ellen--I also get sick when I eat eggs--terrible nausea. I am intolerant to eggs--I was tested and am not allergic. But very intolerant... Lactose intolerance means that you lack the necessary enzyme to digest lactose. Many Celiacs, especially in the beginning, lack the ability to digest lactose because the villi are damaged. As they regenerate...
  4. I'm glad you talked with your step mom. Feel free to vent here anytime--we all understand. Take care
  5. I just came back on and I'm reading these posts over and over trying to figure out what you meant by Jen's furry face!!! It finally dawned on me to hit "refresh" because she probably changed her avatar. I can be slow on the uptake sometimes! Cute picture of Maggie!
  6. Tiffany, I would think you could take any cookie mix and spread it into a greased pan and just bake it as a bar-type cookie. I know that I used to do that frequently with regular Toll House cookie dough for my kids when I didn't want to take the time to bake cookies. I didn't add anything to it or change anything--just baked it for about 20 minutes. ...
  7. Erica--Sorry you're feeling so badly As we know, it takes time to recover from a breakup--you were together for so long. Add to that a diagnosis that further causes changes, and that's a lot to deal with! Your step-mom sounds like she is afraid of another unpleasant visit. Now that you are stable with the diet (I assume you are), I would just go and...
  8. This breaks my heart I remember back in the mid 90's, we couldn't even get tickets to a game unless we ordered way in advance! Still love em, though--they'll be back Glad you had a nice birthday
  9. It really is simple--once you've been on here a little while it will become second nature
  10. Susan--I do actually I have Verizon that includes unlimited calling and my DSL internet connection (lifeline) I think we just get busy, and we know that every time we get on the phone, it's 2-3 hours regardless of how long it's been! She has a full time job and 2 young-ish girls, so we just don't talk as much as we'd like. It is nice, though to not...
  11. I thought the same thing--you both look so much younger in your pictures! Bev, I was actually going to ask you if you happened to know my niece who lives in Portsmouth. She's almost 27, and you looked to be closer to her age!
  12. Good luck with your appt, Rachel! Ask lots of questions This thread thing reminds me of when my sister and I talk for 3 hours on the phone. (we live in different states, and don't talk every week). My husband, or hers, will say--so, what did you two talk about? Well, only about 17,000 things, and I can't name one!!
  13. I was thinking the same thing! I guess I'm just getting used to substituting Tiffany, I'm glad that you could thke this in stride--it all takes time. A very Happy Belated Birthday to you!
  14. I'd love to try this, but I need conditioner! Do you use it alone, and is it enough? I wouldn't mind simplifying things!
  15. A bunch of girls at a slumber party--I like that
  16. I take lisinopril (Sandoz Labs)--it is definately gluten-free, as is the Prevacid. Prevacid seemed to interfere with my sleep, and I started waking up in the middle of the night unable to keep my balance--this stopped when I stopped taking it.
  17. Hi Heidi--wanted to welcome you to the board! The diet is not so hard--it's just a matter of getting used to it. Everyone has already given you good advice--there is a ton of useful information to be found here. Celiac is not so horrible--what is worse is being sick for 10+ years, as you were, and not knowing why or what to do about it. It may...
  18. Hi Kassie, and welcome to the board I'm one of the older members, but I just jumped in here to say hello! Are you Chrissy's daughter by any chance? Good luck with everything--we're all here to help
  19. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JULIE!! Hope you have a very special day planned
  20. Hi Cissie-- To quote a portion of a post, hit "reply" in the lower right corner of the post you wish to reply to. The entire post will appear in the box--just delete all text you don't want in the reply, then reply underneath as usual.
  21. Just want to let everyone know that Wegman's (if you have one nearby) carries Giovanni in the Natural Marketplace section. That's where I bought mine...I love it when I find something locally--hate to have to send for my personal care stuff
  22. Hi Bev--(LOVE your new picture) I called Giovanni about 2 months ago and was told their whole line of haircare was gluten-free. There are no suspicious ingred. listed on the shampoo or conditioner I've been using, and I've had no problems with them. Julie and Turtle--I can't get on to the Giovanni website at all! I looked up the info I wanted on another...
  23. I got very sick from Van's waffles. I don't know if it was the CC or the soy flour, but I won't try them again.
  24. I have developed a habit of eating Dove Dark Chocolate--I crave it every day! I buy the little individualy wrapped squares and try to limit them to 2 or 3 a day. That dosen't always work
  25. How the heck did I miss that!? Well, I guess I'll be sticking with the Giovanni Thanks Julie
