  1. Oh Ashley, I'm sorry! Feel better soon--I'm saying a little prayer for you right now
  2. So, 'jersey' is more formal? That's funny! Feel free to call me anything you like (except late for supper) You know, about your eating the gluten last month--maybe on some level, you had to get back to square one and begin again. (I actually have a morbid curiousity as to how I would feel if I ate gluten on purpose--I wouldn't do it, but I still...
  3. You can post a recipe as long as you list the name of the book the recipe appeared in and the author
  4. There is one common brand of kepchup that is *not* gluten-free--Heinz Organic. Their regular ketchup is fine.
  5. Glutino products use soy--could you be sensitive to that?
  6. Hi Julie --The diet is going pretty well now that I've cut out all of the nasty intolerances! I have to say that the legumes were a huge part of this for me. Since I've cut them out completely, my stomach is a lot better, and I'm not as tired. Good stuff! I just hope that this is it--I don't have to give up anything else. How are you doing? This...
  7. Mickey--Rice milks are a decent sub. They don't taste the same as milk and are thinner, but a lot of people (and kids) use it. Pacific Foods is one brand. The only brand that I know of that is *not* gluten-free is Rice Dream--it is processed with barley, so beware of that. Almond milk is another sub--it has a more pronounced almond flavor--makes good...
  8. I can eat cabbage, too. Interesting about the article--thanks for posting the link Lorka! I think the problem is that my sensitivities tend to overlap--there seem to be an ever-growing amount of them!
  9. We definately can't let this tread end!!! Andrea, I hope all goes well for your husband at the doctors Dlp, I'm worried about your foot! I'm glad you're not in much pain, but it's good that your doctor is going to have a look at it. Let us know! I was on for a little bit earlier this morning--pinning topics, mostly. I had to go to the grocery...
  10. I don't have a lot of decay--only one filling--but I do have a problem with teeth cracking and breaking. One of my front teeth is bonded because of this. I've had a wisdom tooth pulled due to breaking, and another tooth that has a broken corner. Celiac can definately cause vitamin/mineral deficiency because we don't absorb properly while eating gluten...
  11. Hi Mickey--glad you found us here! Your poor dad, it sounds like he's really getting hit from all sides right now. Let's see how we can help. A gluten incident can last a week or two--or in some cases, even longer. That really varies from person to person. At this point, I would suggest offering him naturally gluten-free foods like lean meat and...
  12. Wow! Thank you for the Sulpha drug connection! I am allergic to Sulpha drugs--the last time I took them, I got hives. I never thought of the connection--duh!! That would also explain why grape juice gives me mouth sores. Thanks again
  13. Hi Aparth--I am one who is sensitive to tapioca. Before I was gluten-free, if I ate tapioca pudding (the only way I ever had it before), I would get a very dry mouth. I didn't notice any stomach reactions then, but I was sick for a good 20 years before I was diagnosed so it was not unusual for me to have stomach problems anyway. When I went gluten-free...
  14. Hi Jacklyn--welcome in! Off the top of my head, Dove Products will clearly list any gluten ingredients. Several people here use their shampoo and soap. I use ShiKai shampoo and conditioner (their bath products have gluten). Crest and Colgate toothpastes are gluten-free. For makeup, I use Bare Escentuals. A lot of their makeup line (but not all...
  15. Hey B--That looks great! I saw your name under "newest registered member"!
  16. OMG--I'm trying that!! Thanks Oh, Tiffany, how much pumpkin?--I'm thinking 1/4 cup or so...
  17. Thanks for those, Rachel! In the first article, I thought it was interesting that asmatics who depend on cortosteroids are suseptable. While I don't have asthma, I have had many injections of steriods over the years--the type that last for 6 weeks (I probably will have traces of it in me forever ). I also used to use Nasal Steriods. Grape juice causes...
  18. Yea--it's one of the two, for sure
  19. This is weird but I had almost the same thing happen--I ate a steak last night that had been in the fridge thawing since Friday --I thought it would still be ok, anyway, I didn't have any pain last night but at around 4AM, I woke up feeling nausous. Fell back asleep for a couple hours and woke up again with nausea and upper stomach pain--no D. I wonder...
  20. Hi Ravenwood--where do you buy that chocolate? I've not seen it, and I can't get the Enjoy Life Chips locally. The kitty in your pic is so adorable--I read about how you came upon him in another thread. I love that face--kind of vulnerable and innocent looking! My vote , I hope you end up keeping him.
  21. The BRAT diet is actually bananas, *rice*, applesauce, and toast (gluten-free for us!). I would think raisins would be useful for C--since I have the opposite problem--D--and can not eat many of them, if at all!

    ARCHIVED Eczema

Jeanne--I believe the soaps/lotions, etc. really do make a difference. Another thing I have recently done is change to products that have no SLS or other harsh detergents. I use ShiKai shampoo, Zia Facial Cleanser and Kiss MY Face Olive Oil Soap. Come to think of it, maybe the product changes had as much to do with stopping the eczema as the diet changes...

    ARCHIVED Introduction

You know, I seem to have disappearing skin tags, too. I had one removed from my neck a few years back because it was getting bigger. I had others near it, and a couple beginning on the side of my face--they are all but gone. I also had a bunch of small skin tumors removed from my eyelids and at the time, the doctor said I'd be back in 10 years to have...
  24. You're right about the eggs! The one I had looked like a blue Cadbury egg--those little birds must be really packed into those things!
  25. I don't know whether or not the Godiva is gluten-free, but I know some of their candies are not, so you may want to check with them on that.
