  1. I actually saw this, too. He kind of nodded to Elizabeth, and she to him when he mentioned gluten--but that was it. I was, however, angry that they had a doctor on that was very interesting and talking about how food can affect our health, and when he started talking about gluten, and actually said "one percent of the population is severly affected, and...
  2. You'll have to post a picture
  3. Chances are, if you had a cat before, you'll be fine with a new one. Of course, allergies can develop at any time (like Chelsea said). I tested highly positive to cats about 12 years ago. I ignored the doctor's advice to either give up my cat, or take shots. I had another round of allergy tests done this past Feb. I am now only slightly allergic to cat...
  4. I know that feeling so well...hopefully in an hour or two, you'll feel relieved and have some answers. It's gonna be ok
  5. Kate--Interesting, what your doctor said about antihistimines. For years, before I was diagnosed, I took a Claritan every day and I swear it made my stomach calmer. For a long time, my main complaint was nausea and upset stomach--not D--so it would make sense.
  6. Chelsea--Sounds like you are well prepared for your appt. I completely understand why you are nervous, but try to keep an open mind where the doctor is concerned. (I can't believe I actually said that!!) But really. I hope that it goes well and that he's not a toolbox I'll be anxious to hear what he has to say--
  7. I didn't go off any meds, but I was very close to having to take something for my anxiety/depression. I held off and gave the diet some time--a year later, and I'm glad I waited because the depression is gone, and I only get anxiety when I'm glutened (although it takes forever to go away! )
  8. Gosh Judy--this is what I was afraid of! Glad you got into the internist's office. I know how dissapointed you are--of course my thoughts and prayers are with you for a complete recovery this time. Keep your chin (and leg) up! I'll talk to ya tomorrow!
  9. Hugs right back to you, TCA. Little Megan is a fighter--we're all pullling for her

    ARCHIVED Introduction

Robb--Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my question. It was very interesting, and I now understand a lot more about lectins and why I would be sensitive to them.
  11. This is weird, but my ears react to jewelry when I'm glutened or am having a reaction to another food I'm intolerant to. When I was reacting to the dried fruit/Lara Bars a couple weeks ago, my ears were sensitive to my 14k gold earrings. As soon as I put them in, they weren't comfortable. This is something I'm seeing more now than when I was first gluten...
  12. Hi Nicole, and welcome to the board! That is very good news about your formal--I hope you have a wonderful time. Feel free to post anytime you have a question, or something to share!
  13. Hi Taz! There was a discussion about this a while ago. Read through this for some ideas-- Open Original Shared Link
  14. With any product not made in a dedicated gluten-free facility, there is always a chance of CC. I have never had a problem with it. I have heard that they are all gluten-free, but since I have not checked that out myself, I was just being cautious.
  15. For pasta sauce, I use Ragu. Most, if not all are gluten-free--I have not found one with gluten. Read the label to make sure the flavor you choose is safe.
  16. Yep--with this, it not so much what you say, but how you say it! No excuses or apologies--just act confident and own it
  17. Lister, my friend, you are not crazy. You have had to cope with a lot of change in a pretty short amount of time. It's easy to obsess about these things when we are desparately trying to feel better, and easy to get discouraged when we don't see progress. Right now, you need to be concerned with keeping yourself gluten-free. You are doing great with that...
  18. Nope--mine have gotten a bit better. I still get tired and a little 'down', but the mood swings and the grouchiness are better.
  19. He uses Denver International Airport--and does say the mountains are beautiful there!

    ARCHIVED Introduction

Hi Robb and welcome! I must have read over this thread 3 times now--so much of this is interesting to me. I was diagnosed with Celiac a year ago after being ill for 20 years. By the time I was dx, I had become too sick to work. The gluten-free diet helped right away, but after 4 months, I began to experience additional food intolerances that brought back...
  21. You collect at home, and send back to them to analyze.
  22. My gosh, I wish I had some practical advice for you. When I was reading your post, I felt like crying right along with you. Of course you are at your wits end--I know that you have tried and dug and basicaly done everything humanly possible to help your daughter and figure out what the cause of her retching and gagging is. I also know that you are working...
  23. I use Extra Strength Bufferin. I believe that all Bufferin is gluten-free *except* the 325 mg. tablets.
  24. At Acme it's with the regular oils and shortenings. At Wegman's, it's in the natural section.
