  1. My 2 cents, Nini--sometimes there's no rhyme or reason as to why something will make us sick. A while back, I know I had a reaction to a brand of chips that everyone else said they could eat just fine. I know that is was those chips that did it--I also know they were gluten-free. Don't drive yourself nuts about it--it probably was the sauce!
  2. I'm excited for you, Elonwy! Have a great time
  3. I like all the ones I've tried, but I had the Banana Cookie for the first time the other day--it was fantastic!
  4. Rachel--Good that at least they can do your ultrasound tomorrow--that was fast! Trying to hold all that water is a good trick--good luck with that . The thing I don't understand is that they say these cysts come and go. I was told that, too. But you have had yours a long time--and so have I. Unless we keep getting new ones that don't go away. I'm confused...

    ARCHIVED Applebees

I've never been, but I hear that Red Robin is Celiac friendly. There was a thread on it a while back.
  6. I'm probably gonna be sorry I found this, but here it is-- Open Original Shared Link Let's keep it as clean as possible!
  7. Whole Foods (NJ) carries Ener-g Tapioca Flour, and I can also get it at my local health food store.
  8. True--the ovaries are the part that make the hormone--I don't think the uterus does. And about the doctors not listening to us--I KNOW! Why do I have to learn all of this myself--my doctor knows I have Celiac and food intolerance--why couldn't she connect the dots? I mean geesh Oh Rachel, before I forget--how cool was it that your mom posted! She...
  9. Rachel--My ovary pain always is more noticible when I'm ovulating. When my peroid starts, and for the next day or so, the pain can be intense. I mean really intense. This whole thing has made me think that maybe I shouldn't wait the 6 months. If any of that stuff is leaking into my system, I want it to stop! Good luck at the doctor today--I hope your...
  10. Floridian--Thanks--I never knew that! Makes perfect sense, though. What I am afraid of is that because I'm 50 , she will want me to have a hysterectomy. Since my condition is not life-threatening, I would rather not have something that radical done. I would have the cysts removed in a minute, though! And the fibroid, although it is in the lining of...
  11. My gosh! I had an ultrasound done 2 years ago prior to a procedure I had done. At that time, it showed that I had a small fibroid (2cm) and a cyst on my left ovary. They said it was a functional cyst, clear and would most likely go away. I had another ultrasound done last month. My fibroid has grown to 8 cm (!) and the left ovary is actually larger than...
  12. I have read (and I wish I could remember where) that depression and anemia were two of the most common symptoms of Celiac. I had both--and also anxiety. For all of the reasons that both Shirley and Julia stated. My personal decision was not to go on a medication--at least not yet. I have improved on the gluten-free diet (1 year), and the depression is...
  13. Yes--they are a good idea, unless you think they may be upsetting your stomach. If that's the case, you could try changing brands--I had to do that.
  14. I agree with everything Mango said, and I would add potatoes. Potatoes are the easiest food for me to digest, especially when I'm having a reaction. They're my comfort food Definately try avoiding soy and dairy and see if that helps.
  15. Hi Dog Lover--Nini is one of the members here who has graciously offered to send out info for those new to the gluten-free diet. Here is her post on it, you can PM her from there-- Open Original Shared Link
  16. I wanted to weigh in on the tick angle--recently, I noticed a red bite-looking mark on my husband's arm. It had a perfect circle that looked like the outline of a bruise around it. He was supposed to go out of town in 2 days, and I strongly urged him to show it to his doctor before he went--it looked like it could be Lyme. He was also having headaches...
  17. That is fantastic! Let us know the results when you get them
  18. That reminds me, my local health food store carries a digestive enzyme that is just pineapple and papaya--nothing else. It is their own brand, but I'm sure that someone else makes the same thing. Sorry you're still having this problem!
  19. I agree, the Epi Pen is a must! My husband always has two current ones--one he leaves at work, and the other he keeps here, and takes it with him if he feels it's necessary. At his yearly physical, he gets a new prescription for them. Just knowing you have it with you can make you feel less anxiety about a reaction.
  20. Hi Annie Marie--Your thread is in the Post Diagnosis and Recovery Forum.
  21. Hi--I can only imagine how scary that was for you! Several years ago, a similar thing happened to my husband while undergoing immunotherapy for bee stings. He had 5 years of the shots, and only once did he have a serious reaction. Glad you're doing better now
  22. I use Clabber Girl--it says gluten-free right on the can! I get it at my regular grocery store (Acme)
  23. Hi Jax--and welcome to the board! I have not used the mix--I have read here that some people react to Bob's products, though. I do use the Nestles Chocolate Chips quite often, and have never had a problem. Anyway, hope you feel better soon!
  24. That thought crossed my mind, too!
  25. Just tell her that "this little package" could explain everything!
