  1. Julie--My husband has to travel to Denver on business (his company is headquartered there). He always says how beautiful it is there and how it is so scenic when you fly in and get the first look at the city.
  2. Both my Acme and Wegmans (regular grocery stores) carry Spectrum Coconut Oil.
  3. Ursula, who is also in Canada, posted recently about Enterolab and if they also serve Canada. I'm pretty sure they do--you could PM her. I'll try and find the post. Found it-- Open Original Shared Link
  4. Hi Lisa--it's great that the doctor is finally getting to the bottom of things (no pun intended )! Really, he seems like he's serious about you having something besides Celiac going on. The colonoscopy is not bad at all--the prep is the worst of it, but not painful. Just more D. Have you been feeling any better lately? This has been such a long, drawn...
  5. Thanks for the photos--there are so many picturesque places in Europe! I've never been to France, but visited Austria many years ago. Glad I went then, before the stomach/anxiety stuff hit Anyway, you have a knack for photography--the natural lighting is beautiful. I appreciate the link for creating a website. Good idea to possibly get a high-schooler...
  6. I was always dizzy--to the point where I had some cardiac testing to make sure my heart was ok (it is). I also was anemic--and that was most likely the reason for the dizziness. I still get dizzy if I get glutened. Otherwise, the anemia and dizziness are gone. My doctor has told me more than once that it is hard to get (hear) a reading on my blood pressure...
  7. Floridian--Still here, thinking good thoughts for you and your family. So glad to hear you are still safe--as well as both of your parents. I've been listening to the weather reports re: the storm. Your good humor through this is amazing--you are a stronger woman than I!
  8. Pop Secret is a General Mills Company--they will clearly list any gluten in the ingredients.
  9. I don't know why you say 'unfortunately'--you are much better looking! I took the liberty of browsing through your photos --some of those sky shots are breathtaking. Really, they are beautiful. I'm going to seriously think about your idea of a gluten free site for my area--my actual town is small, very few restaurants are actually located here...
  10. gfp--What a great website you have! Is that you in the picture in the 'useful sites' section?
  11. Your glass cutting board sounds fine
  12. Me too!
  13. Shirley--Your gluten-free dinner sounds great! I'm glad everyone had such a nice time The letter is a very good idea, too. It would be a good way to spread the information around to restaurants. I would love a copy so I could distribute it around in my area. jerseyangel1@verizon.net. Thanks
  14. I do get reflux when glutened, and the difficulty swallowing comes back--I had that really bad before I was diagnosed. The dry mouth is also a big one for me.
  15. Just a thought, maybe a hand mixer would work? Julia--what do you think?
  16. Hi Tiffany--Yes, I missed that post. The doctor--should have known I just hate to see anyone have a delay in diagnosis. I hope that she will change her mind--it would be easier for the little boy to get off gluten now, if need be, before he gets any older. Not to mention his health and development if he does have it.
  17. That sounds like an excessive amount of tooth decay for a 3 year old--especially one who eats very little sugar. Considering the family history, this added with the lactose intolerance should convince your sister to have him tested. What does she have against the testing?
  18. Well said, Chelse! I also use that wheelchair analogy often--people would never tell a disabled person to just get over it. With us, you can't see it and it's not widely understood, so therefore, not believeable to some. What makes me the most angry about it is when it's friends or relatives--they should have enough respect for us that it shouldn't matter...
  19. Hi Rachel--Yea, after reading your post twice, it sounds like you are having a really similar reaction to the one after the shower. I most definately suspect the crackers--this box could very well have been processed right after something else that contained gluten. That happened to me with Barbara's Honey Rice Puffins--I was fine with the first few boxes...
  20. That is what went thru my mind, too. How many of us have been through the skin prick type testing, only to find we are not *allergic* but most definately intolerant to a particular food! The article and study were fine, but I think that Nini is right in that allergy testing is not always the last word. Editing myself here--I re read the article (again...
  21. It certainly could. As healthy as it is, broccoli can cause gas. I've never tried it, but if it's just brocolli that gives her the problem, and she loves it, you could try Beano and see if it helps.
  22. Hi--even if you don't strain, you could still have hemmorhiods. I have never been constipated in my life--quite the opposite! During my colonoscopy, the doctor found internal hammorhoids. Having D frequently is very irritating to our tissue, and can cause this.
  23. It sounds to me like she could be reacting to something--possibly another food intolerance. This happens to me when I eat some of the things I'm intolerant to--also dried fruit. Maybe think back to what she ate on the gassiest days, and see if there is a common link.
  24. I don't know--I'd never heard that. (Good thing, or I may not have tried the crystal!). In my case, I had never used anything except regular deodorant/antiperspirant before. The crystal worked for me right away--it actually lasts longer than the regular for me. Which brand did you try?
  25. M-m-m. I think you all may have unlocked the secret of "The Celiac Code"!
