  1. Their hashbrowns are on the gluten-free list, but I have reacted to them twice. I won't use them again.
  2. I had both done the same day, too--the nurse called it a two-fer! I was just as glad to only have to be put out once--it was not bad at all, try not to be nervous
  3. I agree--those old-school McDonald's fries were the best--right out of the fryer!!
  4. LindaLee--I received the Lip Venom a few days ago. I do like it--it's a nice, clear gloss--my lips didn't look fuller but they did look like I gave them a drink of water --a bit plumper. It did not sting as much as I was expecting--just a slight tingle for the first few minutes. Oh--the Smashbox/mixing on the nails thing--that wasn't me. But I would...
  5. I don't blame you for being frustrated! Could you speak to someone higher up and request that they keep a steak, lobster and maybe a baked potato separate? Ask if they could do this first, so that your food would not come in contact with any of the other things they were serving. I hope you can work something out
  6. I've been thinking about this since I read your question earlier. I would not eat the gluten. If applicable, I would scrounge around for other things to stay alive (like Michael said) but I don't think I could bring myself to ever knowingly eat gluten after what it has done to me. Actually, if I really was half-starving and I ate gluten, the reaction would...
  7. Yes, Celiac is considered an autoimmune disease. In an autoimmune disease, the body attacks it's own tissue. In Celiac, the gluten triggers an autoimmune response that in turn attacks the small intestine. In undiagnosed or untreated Celiac, there is a greater risk of Intestinal Lymphoma--being strictly gluten-free lowers that risk, and after 5 years, our...
  8. I know--darn! But, at least they can let you know what to do to be safe until you can be tested. I think you only have to wait 3 days after taking an antihistimine--that's what my Allergist's office recommends. Let us know how you do
  9. I have a Kitchen Aid mixer--have had it for years. After I was diagnosed, I was afraid to use it, and didn't for a long time. Finally, I thought 'this is crazy'. On the advice of some people here, I washed everything very carefully (especially underneath where the beater hooks in), ran the bowl, dust cover and beaters through the dishwasher and even ran...
  10. Betty--Just seeing this this morning. I'm worried about you--you do need to get to the doctor or the emergency room right away. It sounds like what happened to me when I had an allergic reaction to a medication. That's another thought--we can become allergic to a drug at any time, even after we've been on it before. Perhaps, if it's not a food, it's a...
  11. I'm right there with ya, Armetta! I miss variety, too. Sorry the licorace has corn--that stuff is in just about everything!
  12. That's right, since Oscar Mayer is a Kraft Company. Kraft's policy is that they will clearly list any gluten ingredients. I love their stuff--Oscar Mayer Center Cut Bacon is my favorite. I cook it in the microwave between paper towels and there is virtually no grease left!
  13. I don't eat them anymore because of my sensitivity to grains--but yes! I could never figure out those little hard things that would sometimes be in the cookies.
  14. Thanks, eKatherine--it sounds good.
  15. Could someone please explain what these ciders taste like? They sound like something I might want to try.

    ARCHIVED Applebees

Unbelieveable! I kind of wondered about Applebees as we have one not too far away--but after reading this, I won't bother to check.
  17. Melzo--that's great! I'm happy you're feeling better
  18. Usually the technician does the ultrasound, but it has to be read by a radiologist. Then the results are sent to your doctor--unless you had it right at the doctor's office. Mine was done at a separate facility and the results took less than a week--
  19. Floridian--you are so right! I forgot, but years ago, my SIL had part of her ovary removed and it was still able to function.
  20. Rachel--BIG sigh of relief about your blood work! That's a good question about how long the same cyst can stick around. I know I've had one for 2 years, but I really don't know if it's the same one--and if the other(s) will go away on their own. I really think I'm going to go back in and see what it would entail to have the cysts removed. The other...
  21. Jerry--It sounds like it to me, too. Those are all symptoms of Celiac. Your dad was probably irritable because he was so uncomfortable--and had no idea why.
  22. Jen--How about getting a doctor's note? I don't see how they can deny you food when you are on a medically necessary diet.
  23. I have always thought that, too!!
  24. Armetta--I found this, corn is listed in the ingredients -- Open Original Shared Link free.com/glu/showdetl.cfm...ffiliate_ID=149
  25. Regarding the dishwasher, I rinse everything very well (so that there is no visable residue left) and then wash everything together. I would not put something in there that had crumbs on it or anything like that.
