  7. Lisa--if you go with the cornstarch, it is easier to mix the cornstarch with the milk and whisk while cooking until it's as thick as you want. Then add the butter and seasoning that you're using. Happy holidays to you too!
  8. I use cornstarch...not very traditional but I like the smoothness as compared to using gluten-free flour.

  17. Last weekend we went to a sit down dinner for my husband's company holiday party. I brought my own dinner (homemade veggie risotto--very simple to reheat) that the restaurant was more than happy to reheat and plate it for me. Our waitress timed it so that I was served with everyone else and I didn't feel the least bit embarrassed or hungry. I did...
  18. Firmly but politely tell her that you will be bringing your own food. I always do this regardless of where I'm going--I just say that cooking for me is tricky and I don't want to put anyone to the trouble of preparing my meal.
