  1. I was talk to the bride directly. You could put that down on the card as a reminder, but talk to the bride directly, and offer to talk to the reception location directly yourself (as you've been there before) so she doesn't have to do the followup work, but also doesn't have to worry about what you've written on the card.
  2. Neither my husband or I really liked the nuggets - we prefer Wellshire's. I like Annie's dressings fine for when I use store bought stuff.
  3. Honey, agave, and stevia, depending on what I'm making and what I'm in the mood for.
  4. I agree - get the doctors to explain why elimintaing only four 'edible' plants from your diet is so dangerous. Ask them if they have found eliminating lotus root and teff from their diet to be dangerous! ;-)
  5. There's no way to know, and it doesn't actually matter in the treatment.
  6. That's what honest is for. :-) Saying "I don't want to talk about it further, I haven't been on the diet long, and having you pepper me with questions about something new and challenging isn't something I'm up for right now, so please drop it." may put people off a bit, but that also usually shuts them up. If it doesn't a "What part of a 'I don't want to...
  7. I agree with jen, people often follow your lead - "I have food allergies." "I deal with them just fine." "I'll be fine without any of the food here." "I've brought my own food." "I don't really want to answer all your questions right here at the moment, thank you." You only have to engage in as much conversation as you want to.
  8. Oh absolutely. The majority of soybeans on the market today in the US are roundup ready.
  9. I tend to use Bob's Red Mill. (A handful of people have had problems with them, many people do not.) I've also used Namaste mixes, and Montina flour.
  10. I agree - it's personal preference and you'll have to try them. I'm a fan of Almond Breeze, but for cooking, prefer to use unsweetened Silk Soy milk. I generally prefer that in my cereal too, and just use Almond Breeze for hot beverages like tea and cocoa because it's too sweet for cereal for me.
  11. I pretty much stick to the produce/meat/eggs/gluten-free grains/beans whole foods thing. :-) Things I use to 'spice it up': spices and aromatics ;-) san-j tamari thai kitchen sauces/pastes honey/jams
  12. Unfortunately, the whey means they contain dairy.
  13. yes, but it was after about three weeks gluten free, was for a dietary result, and not of the magnitude that you would need to do. you can try it if you want to, but I would encourage you to play close attention to your body, and consider stopping the experiment short if it becomes apparent that your body is telling you the answer sooner than the tests need...
  14. I was thinking of the Russian research on Monsanto Roundup-Ready soy on rats cutting age at death in half when fed GMO soy-based diets instead of non-GMO soy-based diets. It appeared to actually be a decently designed study, enough so to warrant further study, though not actually draw real conclusions. Additionally, I was thinking of the studies on the...
  15. they are quite tasty.
  16. nope, and I drink their teas by the caseful! ;-)
  17. You might want to talk to him - he may well think that he *was* being supportive, trying to keep you from going back to being afraid of everything. Yes, it was the wrong approach, but he might have thought he was being helpful. So talk to him about it - and about what you *need* from him, since he may not know automatically without you telling him.
  18. Absolutely never make any sweeping assumptions about any food that has a label - you always have to read the ingredients. Sorry. :-( I know that makes it harder, but do get the ingredient list from the teacher.
  19. You'll mostly have to go with health food stuff - Ruth's Hemp Bars, Clif Nectar Bars, Lara Bars, Alpsnack are all good Gluten-free Casein-free ones. You can get rice protein powder to put in smoothies that you make yourself from many health food stores (like Whole Foods).
  20. Verify that you've got all gluten out of your diet - go over everything you're eating with a fine tooth comb. Also, make sure to drastically reduce you're iodine consumption until this DH episode goes away fully.
  21. Most of the studies on soy that have actually been able to show any true negative effects have been done with fairly high 'doses' in uncontrolled self-reported memory-recalled diet studies. These aren't exactly reliable accounts, and there are a lot of things that are perfectly safe in some doses that are harmful in high doses. While I think we can say...
  22. unless there were other symptoms, it sounds just like a low alcohol tolerance. are you taking any medications that would encourage that as well (even though you don't need medication to get drunk off of two glasses of wine)?
  23. She already knows that she has celiac disease, so I think the key is to let her know, in a very upbeat and positive way, that the diet is really definitely doable and not all tha bad. Give her all the information on how to succeed on the diet, and then all the reasons to do so - all the good things that have improved since going on the diet.
  24. I thought that 20g/day was allowed on induction? That could leave room for 6g from a 8oz serving of Open Original Shared Link (that's one reason it has to be whole milk - skim milk yogurt would be replacing some of the fat content with sugar content), though 9g from an 8oz serving of Open Original Shared Link might be pushing it. I would add, however...
