  1. It could also be something like gastroparesis. That's when the stomach doesn't empty properly and the food just sits there fermenting. People with this have to have a liquid heavy diet.
  2. It's funny, just this summer I was on a family vacation to Orlando and did okay. My aunt agreed to keep our room gluten free, I survived going out. My father had a hard time with cross contamination. He did not understand that we can't food share anymore. But after coming home my grandmother, who went to my dr appointments with me, decided not to use...
  3. Every few months I have the gluten dream. They are so vivid I actually can taste the food. Then I panic in dream about getting sick. It takes a few minutes after waking up to remember that I didn't actually go to McDonald's.
  4. I think the biggest problem is that people put so much stake in these TV "experts." Thanks to Oprah and Jenny McCarthy we have a resurgence in preventable deadly diseases. I have known people who stopped medications because "Dr Oz told them too." This was life saving medications. He is so irresponsible and makes life worse for so many. Not that I have...
  5. Thank you IrishHeart! That is exactly what I needed to hear. Thank you too SMRI, I'm a newbie to Celiac and seem to get caught with cross contamination more than anything. So everything gets checked and I was counting on people with more experience than I.
  6. I stress over cross contamination. There are no gluten ingredients that I can see but if someone has had reactions I'll give it to coworkers.
  7. I am going on a trip next week and I bought some individual Jif Natural Peanut Butter Cups. Has anyone had reactions to those? I should have asked before I bought, but I was victim to impulse buying.
  8. I'm grateful that I'm no longer asked if I'm pregnant on a daily basis.
  9. I know it wasn't something the day before because I make all my food and no gluten is allowed in my house at all. Not too hard since its me and my dog. I'll have to remove myself in the future if they insist on putting the food there. I am one out of 80ish. I dont't want to be "that person" who ruins it for others. They constantly draw attention to...
  10. The worst part is that I work in a medical office. Yet I still got "you're that sensitive?" today. I even moved the food away only for it to reappear while I was with a patient. *facepalm*
  11. It is possible. I tried so hard to keep my food closed up and away. My coworkers feel bad now. Partially because the bloating is very visible. I guess this means that I have to ask that communal food is kept at another location.
  12. I got sick yesterday at work. There was a potluck for my coworker's birthday. I ate my own food, all things I've had before, and avoided all potluck items. The triscuts and wheat thins were placed right next to my desk however. Is it possible I somehow got contaminated from the crackers? By the end of the day I bloated, developed heart burn, abdominal...
  13. I have had great experiences at Red Robin. It was the first place I went out to eat after my diagnosis. They have a dedicated gluten free fryer and you can get gluten free buns or a lettuce wrap. No symptoms! I have since gone back successfully. Yay, french fries!
  14. What gets me is that Reeses cups are on the gluten free list, but seasonal shapes are not. I used to love the christmas trees.
  15. I'm an Anchorage resident, born and raised in Alaska. I was diagnosed a month ago and have been doing okay, but too nervous to eat out. I don't know anyone else here with the diagnosis. Is there anyone else in AK who have any favorite restaurants for gluten-free?
