  1. Some of us (me included) will get a rash (I get psoriasis and terrible itching) when anything containing gluten gets on my skin. But will you ever touch your face during the day? Will you remember to wash your hands with soap every time afterwards, to make sure you don't eat anything after touching your gluten containing makeup? Do you ever lick your fingers...
  2. MY bad news is, that allergy testing will NOT show intolerances. So, even if your daughter's allergy testing comes back with wheat not being an allergy, that doesn't mean she isn't intolerant to it. If she had three of the five markers for celiac disease, and reacted to wheat, she likely has celiac disease. In which case it is a terrible idea to reintroduce...
  3. A naturopathic doctor would be a better bet than an allergist when it comes to intolerances. You would be wise to give up ALL dairy right now, with your villi that bad. And yes, it is likely stopping you from healing. In all dairy I mean milk, cheese, yogurt, sour cream....... the works. You can try reintroducing dairy after about six months, when the...
  4. I use Dove products, they are gluten-free and work great. Your acne could be a symptom of celiac disease and may clear up. Also, it is advisable to eliminate dairy and soy for the first while, as they can hinder healing. You can try them in a few months to see if you react or not.
  5. You probably need to eliminate dairy for at least a few months, as it will hinder healing. Soy could be the culprit as well.
  6. Happy birthday, and congratulations on having such a caring daughter!
  7. You know, dairy and soy can both cause diarrhea as well. A lot of us can't tolerate dairy and soy on top of the gluten intolerance. I imagine if you remove dairy and soy from her diet your daughter will be fine within a couple of days. By mentioning the dairy and soy, you really appear to know what the problem could be. Even though it is a pain to eliminate...
  8. Since gluten is not a virus or bacteria, disinfecting agents like bleach or alcohol will do nothing to get rid of it. Just old fashioned scrubbing with soap of some kind is the only way to clean it off. It is very sticky (they make industrial strength glue with it) and you need to clean well. Also, you need to replace your toaster (you absolutely cannot...
  9. Sarah, have you eliminated gluten from your diet yet? Since you have had your biopsy done, there is no point in waiting for the results before doing so. As gfp said, false negatives with biopsies are fairly common, and a negative biopsy cannot rule out celiac disease. Your blood work was positive. Along with a positive diet response that would prove celiac...
  10. Yes, his website is extremely interesting. A couple of years ago I spent days in there, reading and reading. I believe he is a member here, too, and has posted a few times.
  11. I bought just recently a great cream, called 'Natural Body Butter' from Dr. Mercola's website. Here is the link (scroll down to the bottom to find the body butter) Open Original Shared Link Here are the ingredients: Organic aloe vera juice, distilled water, organic virgin coconut oil, emulsifying wax (plant-based), organic jojoba oil, monolaurin, organic...
  12. Yes, codeine is supposed to cause constipation. But never in me. I took 50 to 100 mg codeine contin every 12 hours (it is 12 hour slow release) for five years for fibromyalgia, and got D anyway. But in the meantime the antibiotics appear to be starting to work, and the D is getting better, too! My dentist was saying that maybe I have unfriendly bacteria...
  13. Some people are okay with Rice Dream, but the very sensitive ones react. I am in Canada, so most brands are different. I am sure others here will give you specific brand names. You could also try almond milk, I think it really tastes nice, too.
  14. You might want to tell the doctor that unless he does the scope and biopsy VERY soon, you will just put him back on the gluten-free diet and not care about his blessing on this! Nobody can prevent you from just having your kid be gluten-free, it is nobody's business. All his symptoms could be caused by gluten, dairy, or soy, or a combination of all three...
  15. Well, lets just say that celiac disease is genetic, and your daughter got it from somebody! Yes, all your symptoms could be caused by gluten. It doesn't matter that you don't have the same symptoms as your daughter. No two people have exactly the same symptoms. In fact, some people don't have any symptoms at all, with completely destroyed villi! I think...
  16. I hate to say this, but working in a pizza shop is about the worst thing for you to do. Yes, if you inhale flour, you will be glutened. And terrible back pain is definitely one of my celiac disease symptoms. If you want your health back, you will need to find a new job. I would be happy if my only intolerances were gluten and dairy! You still have SO much...
  17. Donut bombs! That is definitely funny.
  18. Unfortunately, rice could be a problem, as could be potatoes. Which rice milk are you using? Rice Dream is processed with barley malt, and despite their gluten-free label, is not 100% gluten-free. Eggs could also be the culprit, it is one of the most common allergens. Him refusing to eat vegetables makes it almost impossible! That is really tough. Have...
  19. Okay, I take that back. Too many doctors haven't got a clue what they are doing, and I assumed he was going to test you for celiac disease again, and then tell you that you don't have it if everything is negative.
  20. Right, I meant to mention Lara bars. All they have is fruit and nuts. Most of them are really nice, but my daughter and I hate the cherry and coconut/chocolate bars. But somebody must like them, otherwise they would stop making them, I guess.
  21. OBXMom, do you still give your son dairy and soy? Dairy is known to cause ear infections, tummy aches, constipation and emotional issues, and soy will cause similar problems for somebody intolerant to it as well. It sounds to me like he is intolerant to more foods than just gluten. Food dyes could also cause some of those problems. You might want to...
  22. Yes, if you put him on a gluten-free diet, he is guaranteed to test negative for celiac disease. So, I suggest you have him tested for celiac disease immediately, and then put him on the gluten-free diet right after. But don't hold your breath, kids his age rarely test positive unless they are already very ill. The response to the gluten-free diet is the...
  23. Have you eliminated dairy and soy? Those could be causing the acid reflux and burping. Retesting you in August after being gluten-free will only result in more negative test results. It seems that your doctor is clueless about celiac disease.
  24. Hi Michele and welcome to these boards. Toddler diarrhea just means that the doctor is too lazy or too ignorant to figure out what the problem is, and the same goes for IBS. Those are SYMPTOMS and should never be considered a diagnosis in themselves. Your son sure sounds like he may be gluten intolerant, he has a lot of the symptoms (and no two people...
  25. I am sure they are gluten-free. They should be fine, as long as he doesn't react to food dyes or sugar.
