  1. If you really 'just' have adrenal fatigue (which is bad enough), you can buy things at the health food store. One extremely good product is AOR classic series Adrenal. That was what my naturopathic doctor had me take (it wasn't enough in my case), before I went to Germany and was diagnosed with Addison's disease. The Genestra Brand of probiotics would...
  2. I find that if I eat too many foods high in salicylates I feel like I have a bladder infection, and have to go to the bathroom all the time. Too much fruit or juice could be a problem with some of you. I will get leg cramps when I don't get enough magnesium! And I agree that soy could be a problem, as many people with celiac disease will eat a lot of...
  3. Michael, I went and checked Amazon.ca, and they don't have your book yet, but it is coming (I know that you can get it from amazon .com already, I looked at it, but I prefer the Canadian one, as I save on shipping). I am planning on buying it, with all the nightshade problems in my family. And Judy is right, it is obviously allowed to have a link to your...
  4. Yes, absolutely, that is a great idea! Then you would have definitive answers, anyway. You would also know if dairy and soy are a problem as well.
  5. Tamara, homeschooling is an excellent choice for your daughter. You know, even without a 'real' teaching program, most kids learn more at home than in their kindergarten year, anyway. I always taught my kids the ABCs and counting/adding etc. before school. Especially if they asked and wanted to learn, they were way ahead of other kids when they started school...
  6. I say there is definite reason for concern, and I would guess that he is gluten intolerant as well. I have a grandson who grew consistently (Ethan is five now), but was so skinny you could see every rib. This boy was ALWAYS hungry and would ask for food every few minutes. I was there at meals quite a few times, and he was never full. My daughter would...
  7. It could well be gas. I get the same thing, and it definitely isn't a baby!
  8. I have Addison's disease (adrenal insufficiency), hypothyroidism, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, asthma as well as celiac disease.
  9. You might want to let your coworkers know that they can absolutely NOT eat anything containing gluten near your desk. If you see crumbs, it would be best if you would wash your desk before you work at it. I am afraid I have given up on constantly telling my husband and daughter not to touch the keyboard and mouse right after eating a sandwich (or even...
  10. Good thing I never drive the little guy around who I babysit (one of three I should say), or he would do the same kind of thing! Good that after the initial shock wears off, it is actually funny. Little rascal! There is one thing that might get the rest of the gum off easily. It is called 'Goo gone', and is a miracle! You can get it in most hardware stores...
  11. I had never heard that wheat bread is often baked with potato water. If that is true, it is a really dirty trick! But since I never ate any bread besides German sourdough rye bread (I've always hated that fluffy American wheat bread), that wasn't a problem for me. Still, it will be good for people to be aware of that.
  12. Two of my grandchildren are intolerant to nightshades as well. When those twins (strangely, not identical, a boy and a girl) were six months old, my daughter had them tested with a vega machine, because of eczema and digestive problems, plus horrible diaper rashes. When she stopped eating nightshades (as she was breastfeeding them exclusively until they were...
  13. Yes, not having sodas would be good, as they are very unhealthy. On the other hand, if you want caffeine, you might just want to drink a cup of coffee or black tea instead (apparently, some doctors/scientists say that coffee is good for you, while others say it isn't.........you decide which is true for you by how your body likes it if you try). If you sweeten...
  14. Your TSH is really not in the normal range at all. That range of normal being up to 5.0 is long outdated, and now the upper limit of normal is 3.0, some doctors say it should be no higher than 2.0. Mine was 3.79, and it took a lot of convincing to get my doctor to give me meds. The best one to try is Armour Thyroid (in Canada dessicated thyroid), as it...
  15. Please don't lose hope! Through 50 years of being sick, I never lost hope of finding out what was wrong with me. And now I am finally slowly getting better. I am sure you can manage to get better if you keep trying. Sometimes it just takes a long time, which is discouraging for sure. I hope that somebody from the support group will get back to you soon...
  16. Combination intolerances are almost impossible to figure out on your own, because the possible combinations are endless! Regular doctors don't find those out. You'd have to find a naturopathic doctor with a Vega machine. Some people think these don't work. But while with me it missed the gluten intolerance (because I usually get a delayed reaction, and...
  17. Hey, why didn't I think of that, a crock pot is a fabulous idea! You throw a bunch of food in before you leave in the morning, and come back to a delicious meal. It is so easy to do, and you can cook just about anything in it. If you don't have money for a good slow-cooker cookbook, you can find tons of recipes on the Internet. You can probably get a small...
  18. Well, I am intolerant to nightshades as well as gluten, plus a lot of other things. A few years ago cutting out nightshades (I was tested for intolerances and those showed up) made me feel much better. I stopped having migraines (caused by tomatoes), and my bowel problems got a lot better at that time. But my joint pains and other horrible problems didn't...
  19. Well, since you have been gluten-free for a month, seeing a G.I. specialist would probably be pretty useless. He would want to put you back on gluten to do a biopsy, which is not needed. You can try showing these to your doctor, but I am not sure what good it would do. He/she might look at your genes and declare that with those you can't have celiac disease...
  20. At first I reacted to all lectins like I was glutened. Rice would cause horrible stomach aches, diarrhea and extreme sleepiness, as well as terrible joint pain. Eggs caused a similar reaction. The rest weren't quite as bad (other than the gluten grains, of course, which were even worse). If you read up on lectins, you will find out that it is very rare...
  21. Do you eat your cereal with milk? If yes, it might be the problem. If no, then you are probably intolerant to one of the ingredients. You may be intolerant to all grains, cooked or uncooked. So, rice may be the culprit. Or the quinoa, or maybe even the eggs. You also may have an intolerance to a combination! My granddaughter is intolerant to the combination...
  22. If you can't tolerate egg or peanut butter, you may be intolerant to lectins. Lectin foods are: All grains (including corn and rice), eggs, legumes (including soy and peanuts), all dairy, and the nightshade foods (potatoes, tomatoes, pepper, eggplant). Here is a link to find out more on lectins Open Original Shared Link Also, I had a horrible time with...
  23. I am afraid that it would be much better for you to wait at least six months before trying to conceive again, to give yourself time to heal. Otherwise you may end up losing another baby, which is a lot more heartbreaking than waiting a little while. I had eight miscarriages (and it is a miracle I have five healthy children anyway), because of undiagnosed...
  24. Hi, and welcome to this forum. I used to be severely anemic a few years ago (before I knew about celiac disease), and got iron shots twice a week for over a year. I don't really know how expensive they are, as insurance paid for them. They don't hurt much, but if you keep getting them over an extended period of time, your butt will hurt (that's where they...
  25. Marjorie, obviously, you can't help being pregnant now. What you CAN control is your diet. You absolutely NEED to ensure a completely gluten-free diet now! Also, the reason for problems with pregnancies (and yes, premature labour and miscarriages are definitely symptoms of celiac disease) is malnourishment. If your intestines don't absorb enough nutrients...
