    ARCHIVED Venting

That was why we had to do so much ourselves, but we couldn't live in the tiny house we were in and this is so handy. Thankfully my ex and I get along so well to live so close

That is because comments were edited and no longer reflect the offending comment. I don't need a nap. Stephanie, I'm sorry but I read yours and Karen's comments at the same time and I had a hot head. I asked many people about this before I ever mentioned it on here, most people that are in the building business and have been for years. I looked at posts...

    ARCHIVED Venting

I can't find an MSDS for the materials used in the building of this home considering it is an older home ( older than I am). I took the word of someone ( and multiple others, the contractor that put in my windows and doors for one) that has been working with building products for the last 40 years, that yes materials used for building were known to have wheat...
  4. Fried Wontons for me please. And a sub sandwich.
  5. I'm with Nicole, I have had some of my symptoms actually get worse since going gluten free, and I know I've seen others say it. It really does take time.

They use wheat paste in all drywall. It's on the container for the popcorn repair. My dad and brother who are both pipe pitters/ insulators informed me of the wheat paste after the fact. Would have been nice to know before hand lol

    ARCHIVED Venting

I just need to vent.. We bought a house from my ex-husband and we were in the middle of a remodel when we discovered that dry wall has gluten in it. I figured this out after I scraped 1200 square feet of a popcorn ceiling. I was covered in that from head to toe. I had a mask on, but I had it everywhere!! Realized something was up when I started feeling...
  8. I'm all for the paper plates, I have them and silverware in my car. I'm paranoid about food though, I'm sick of being sick.
  9. For you two that were just diagnosed, the first year is rough. My first few months I reacted to a lot of foods, foods that I know to be gluten free. It takes time to heal. Some people also have other food intolerances that can make you feel like gluten. Keep a food and symptom diary and take it day by day. Hope you both start feeling better and welcome to...
  10. Nine months gluten free and I still am not feeling well. It takes time. Depends on how long and how sick you were before diagnosis. Keep a food and symptom diary, some people have other food intolerances that can also cause some of the same symptoms as gluten. Good luck, and I hope you feel better soon.
  11. I get fevers with glutenings. It was one of my symptoms I complained about for a year, unexplained repeated low grade fevers. Like the others said, maybe that is how you will react. Sorry dear, but the labs weren't wrong, you have celiac. Hope you get to feeling better soon.
  12. I have soy issues and haven't had any issues with any of the above stated products. Maybe you are having an issue with another ingredient?
  13. I hate food. I didn't go to Thanksgiving with my family because I'm paranoid about food. I did go nuts the other day and make homemade chicken and dumplings, fudge, almond milk ice cream, and chex mix. Otherwise, it's just for necessity. I can't go out to eat, I had a panic attack in the parking lot of the last one we tried. Yup, I hate food lol
  14. I'm in my late thirties and wish I could go back to my early twenties and find out I had Celiac. Yes it's hard, but so is being sick too often. I would give anything to have the time back I've missed with my kids the last year due to feeling like total s$#&, and this is gluten free after years of not. Yes it sucks, but it is better than the alternative. Have...
  15. This has no scientific backing or anything, just my personal opinion. I would bet that everyone that has the genes for celiac has symptoms that would clear up by going gluten free even without testing positive for celiac, I think we all start sensitive to gluten. I have had symptoms from birth, but don't think I would have tested positive that whole time...
  16. Considering everyone has to poop and everyone is susceptible to illness, if it isn't a regular occurrence, asking the teacher in the next room to keep an eye on both rooms in case of emergency shouldn't be deemed unreasonable. I guess I'm one of those people though that try to do what I can for other people and wouldn't make an issue out of someone else's...
  17. Sorry it has taken me so long to respond to your message, but I've been very busy with a house remodel, a home sale and move, and a recent glutening so I have been a little crazy and not on the computer much. I thought I would respond here with my take just in case others have opinions based on what I think. Here goes.... The ADA states that a person is...
  18. Not sure how old your friend is but I'm 37 and was just diagnosed with Celiac 6 months ago and after reading my file, my doctor and I both believe it's been since birth. Here's what she possibly has in store for her; migraines, arthritis, nerve pain, severe muscle cramping, thyroid disorders, failed or inactive gallbladders/appendix, miscarriages, preterm...
  19. When I was in the hospital in May to get my appendix out, I had to call down and specifically tell them I needed gluten free and they gave me their menu options that I could have that they could accommodate. They didn't have a specific gluten free menu, but they did have dedicated kitchen space. They never asked me for a diagnosis. They only problem I had...
  20. I personally wouldn't put too much stock in your antibody levels. They differ so much from person to person. Some who have been sick for decades have low antibody levels and awful endoscopies and then some have antibody levels off the charts with little to no damage seen on their endoscopies. It's all really your bodies dictation of when it's going to stop...
  21. Ruth- I'm glad you got an answer for your girl. It's got to be good to know the gluten can be gone now, at least for a few years. I would have been in full space suit mode if I had your reactions. About her other labs, how high were they? So many things can cause slightly HGB, HCT, and RBC. Dehydration and asthma are two that my cloudy mind can think of...
  22. Autumn- sorry it has taken me so long to reply. I stick by what I said earlier about your results, the ESR and CRP would be the only ones that are abnormal. Having a hemolyzed specimen will affect your CRP, but it wouldn't make it that high, a borderline test should have been questioned, but not a value that high. Had it been on the earlier day where you...
  23. While trying to plow through conversions since the units are different while having some pretty bad brain fog, this is what I got out of your tests.... Most of them are completely normal. Your ESR's are high which would point to inflammation, though not specific, and your CRP also points to inflammation. Your Thyroid function test look normal, but I would...
  24. An EEG would determine if epilepsy is present, an EKG is a tracing of your heart. Just an FYI
  25. I'm sorry that you are feeling this way. Have you had your thyroid checked? Grave's disease will cause a lot of problems with weight and hair loss. 84 pounds lost in a little over 4 months is going to cause you to feel extra rough also. I lot an extreme amount of weight due to celiac which made my hair fall out, lost all my muscle mass, and my heart even...
