  1. No snoring and I sleep like the dead most nights. This happened to me a week or so ago and I slept for almost two days straight, was up maybe a total of 4 hours in two days.
  2. I was wondering if anyone else ever has bouts of extreme tiredness? Like can't stay awake for anything in the world tired, compelled to sleep for a few days? I know I haven't been glutened, but it seems like if I have foods that I seem intolerant to the sleep is the first things that happens. I have been ok with small amounts of soy, but I must have over...
  3. Hoping things go ok Ruth. Good thing the weather is good and the kids can sit outside to eat. Good luck and hope you start feeling better.
  4. I am with the others. My daughter had a bowling and pizza party and I just called a few days ahead and explained the situation and they had no problem with us bringing food from outside.
  5. Have you been keeping a food diary? Maybe you have other food intolerances. Have you been gluten free from diagnosis? I don't understand what you mean about building up a tolerance. Not being 100% gluten free could cause your symptoms.
  6. I was doing allergy shots for all my environmental allergies when I had a reaction that sent me into full blown anaphylaxis a few times and then after that I was hypersensitive. I couldn't go outside for a few weeks without having a reaction. Once my body settled down, so did my allergies. I was a 4+ on almost everything I was skin tested for and now most...
  7. First things first, are you still eating gluten? If you are having testing for Celiac you have to be eating gluten at the time of testing and preferably at least three months before hand. You could have symptoms of celiac, but they could also be from other things. I don't know what to tell you on how to prevent it, it's just going to be a waiting game...
  8. I haven't had DH, but I did have a severe allergic reaction once where my body wouldn't settle down at all. Every time I came into contact with allergens ( environmental), I went into anaphylaxis and they gave me Pepcid to take. I did have relief with the Pepcid, but it took a few days. Hope that helps.
  9. Maybe you had a food intolerance pop up. Maybe a food and symptom diary is in order. Hope you feel better.
  10. I have terrible speech patterns after a glutening. Hell, I haven't gotten rid of my brain fog yet and it's been four months. My speech gets all jumbled, I talk dyslexic. Usually it's just mixing my words up as I am talking, but sometimes it sounds like I need a bib to catch my drool and I am going to start licking windows and I am mixing up my letters...
  11. I find that ridiculous! It actually makes me mad. Based on the improvement with the diet ( slow, but still an improvement) the fact the you have some damage, and a positive gene test, what more does he want? Maybe ask to have the full panel drawn now? You have only been off gluten for a month, and you did say you have had some cc's. Antibody levels don...
  12. Liz - I am so sorry you are feeling this way. I hate to say it but I really think you do need to be seen. You have to be firm with them. If they treat you like a drug addict, tell them the story. You are in the middle of a gluten challenge which is obviously making you very ill. Make them treat you. In May I had to force an ER doctor to admit me for...
  13. Like my fellow "newbies" Icelandgirl and Georgia_guy ( we were all diagnosed around the same time, I am at 4 months) said, it can be really frustrating and sometimes extremely agitating to not feel better when you have cut out the one thing known to affect you, only to find out that may not be all. Keep a journal, it's good advise. That way you can track...
  14. My doctors think I have had undiagnosed Celiac for most of my life, 37 years. My symptoms were on again, off again for years. Sometimes I would actually feel good. The last two years is when it got to be really bad, an almost every day occurrence. Celiac is a weird disease and never consistent. Hope you get to feeling better once you can start your gluten...
  15. I am just explaining this from what I see out of this whole thread. And I would like to state that I didn't pipe in until supposed research articles were brought up that had no scientific bearing as to the original subject, only someone's mapped out view of getting from point A to C but skipping B. It bothers me when people compare apples to oranges, I would...
  16. That is great! Now could you please figure out how to share that with me?????? pwetty pease
  17. I don't know about kids, but I have always had a small case of ADHD. It seems the last few months have been a lot worse for me. My attention span is about.......I had this really great meal..... I have to go to the store. You get the drift. I don't know if I am going through some major with drawls or something. It's frustrating. I wish mine would settle...
  18. Maybe I worded that wrong, I understand why they use the radioactive iodine. If they used the radioactive iodine, it would kill the thyroid leaving the Hashi's bored since it would have nothing to attack, wouldn't you just be taking away one part of the puzzle? It seems like some with Hashi's have a very hard time regulating their hormone levels because...
  19. Most of the tests that they run are usually run and resulted within a matter of days, being a weekend it might take a little longer. Welcome to the forum. I would read the newbie thread and learn about cross contamination, they are in the coping section like Cyclinglady said. You also need to think about anything that could end up in your child's mouth...
  20. This really has no bearing on anything, just a wonder.... If people do so well on thyroid replacements without having to fight their still active thyroid, why don't they use the radioactive iodine for Hashi's like they do for Grave's? Not sure if anyone knows why or not but I was just wondering.
  21. I hope you find your answer soon. I have a gluten free home, my daughter and I are both Celiacs. My live in boyfriend and my son are both gluten free at home but are allowed to eat gluten outside of the home. I can't imagine a shared kitchen but many do it with no problems at all. If I were you, I would do a test and make some gluten free food and...
  22. lol'ing about the wildcat, you painted a very funny picture!  I think with everyone, it varies. Some see improvement right away and some take longer. I think it depends how long you go undiagnosed, depends on how much healing you have to do. For some it gets worse before it get's better. Sorry I am probably not being very helpful, I just...
  23. Lab A and Lab B are testing for the same antibody but not necessarily using the same testing equipment. It would be like saying traveling 800 miles by car is the same as traveling 800 miles by plane because you are in a vehicle, not taking into account the mode of transportation or time. I really can't explain why the lab results are varying so much, I...
  24. If you took a blood sample to Lab A and they run a platelet count 20 times they should get roughly the same answer 20 times, give or take a few points. You could then take the same sample to Lab B and they have a different analyzer that uses just a little different methodology in determining a plt count and run the sample through 20 times, you should still...
