    ARCHIVED Addison's

Thanks, we are only an hour and a half away so we are going to drive up and come back. Unless they want me there for more than one day, then my boyfriend's cousin lives in town. I have been there before, I had a mass wrapped around my around my aorta that I had removed at St. Mary's about 4 years ago. Luckily, I am seen by a branch of Mayo here in town so...
  2. Thank you guys for your responses. I generally just put the shared whatever back on the shelf and walk away. Some of it I really don't want to walk away from lol. I guess this is where it's a learning process person to person.
  3. I was wondering what you do with shared facilities/lines? Do you enjoy products that have shared facilities and not shared lines? If a product doesn't state that it's run on shared lines or a shared facility, do you call the company? I am just wondering how others handle these products. Sometimes I wonder if I'm being diligent enough or not. I think someone...

    ARCHIVED Addison's

I received a call from Mayo in Rochester today and I'm going to be seen there next Tuesday. I wasn't going to make an appointment there but I got to thinking it might be nice to be seen by someone with a fresh perspective that doesn't personally know my previous doctor and see him on a daily basis. Just have to take it one day at a time. I had to quit with...
  5. OMG luvs2eat, I just spit all over my screen. Don't you love not having a filter on your mouth? That is great....
  6. While vomiting after every meal is not normal, it is normal to still feel ill for a while after the initial diagnosis of celiac. How long has he been gluten free? Is your household completely gluten free? Cross contamination can be happening if you have gluten eaters in the house. Maybe read the newbie thread and make sure you have things down on how to help...

    ARCHIVED Addison's

Yes, I'm being treated for the high TSH. My levels have been all over the place the last year it seems. I think this last blimp is due to the fact that my previous doctor messed with my dosage when he shouldn't have. I took in a list of concerns when I went to the doctor on Monday, even a list of my blood pressures from the last week or so. When I go to the...

    ARCHIVED Addison's

Thanks you guys. I know Addison's is very rare and I probably don't have it and I'm trying not to freak out but it's hard. I know it's a very manageable disease but a potentially very scary one. My cortisol is a little on the low side of normal but still normal. The soonest they can get me in is December 23rd so my doctor is seeing if she can get me fast...

    ARCHIVED Addison's

I was wondering if there is anyone on here who has Addison's along with Celiac? I have been having a very bad week and Addison's was brought up and I am being sent to see an endo to be tested for it. I have every symptom but the hyperpigmentation. I don't know much about the disease except for what I have read the last day, so I am interested to see if anyone...
  10. I have to say, pester your doctor for the tests. If he is looking for something that affects your whole immune system and doesn't think that Celiac does that, you just might want to get a new doctor to pest for that celiac test. If this disease doesn't affect the whole immune system, I'm a monkey's uncle.
  11. I am not sure what to say except for I ate half of a bag of Nothing But Reds Starbursts the other night, but I felt fine. Some people can't handle a lot of sugar at once, might be as simple as that. It's hard not to always look at gluten as the culprit, but I'm going with the others that it was probably the quantity. Hope you feel better soon.
  12. You having some thyroid issues too? I went to the doctor to get my level checked and holy moly, it was 16. No wonder why my muscles hurt lol. Dosage change and 6 week check up. Hopefully yours gets better! Are you feeling better other wise or still having more bad days than good?
  13. The only time I have been getting glutened lately, besides my remodeling, is from my boyfriend forgetting to brush his teeth when he gets home from being out. He is normally really good about it and it's only happened twice in six months, but accidents do happen and he feels just awful when it does happen. He told me it feels like to him to be the equivalent...
  14. Thank you guys. It is pretty great. I'm also amazed at how celiac doesn't consume my life as much as it did a few months ago. I can go out with friends and not talk about celiac all night. People are getting used to my weird quirks and don't even bat an eye any more. Life is good
  15. Welcome to the forum and I'm sorry to hear about all the health troubles you've had to deal with, it's no fun. If you have been eating gluten, go in and get your blood tests done now. Keep eating gluten though until and if you need to decide to have an endoscopy done. I generally didn't have very good luck trying to manage my cold sores when I would get...
  16. I was working as a cook when I was diagnosed, it took me about two weeks before I quit. No matter what, I couldn't get away from the gluten. Thankfully my employer understood the need for me to quit without giving a two week notice, which I was very grateful for. I wish you luck and welcome to the forum.
  17. Chicken that is marinated can contain gluten, plain ole cut up chicken at the market does not. Please be specific when making blanket statements like " Chicken, can sometimes contain gluten". You give people the impression that they can't buy a cut up chicken at the store, you'll make them paranoid. Plenty of celiacs eat corn with no issues what so ever and...
  18. It has been exactly six months today since my celiac diagnosis. What a difference the last six months have made. I haven't had one single migraine, hope they never come back. Still on all the heartburn meds, tried a few days without them which was a very bad idea. I think I will keep them around. I went from eating anti-nausea pills like candy 6 months ago...
  19. RainKitty, if you want to have your children tested, ask for the tests. If the doctor says no, get a new one or ask the doctor for a valid reason why you shouldn't have your daughter tested now to make sure she isn't positive if it can save her a life time of misery from a GENETIC disease. She should be tested every two years anyway and so should your other...
  20. SMRI- BREATHE. I am not trying to be a b%$@# in any of what I say next so please don't take any of it that way. Yes, some products that claim to be gluten free from a shared facility are at one time or another not going to be gluten-free. New employees aren't properly trained, the cleaning process isn't done right, mistakes happen. People need to make their...
  21. Natamycin is a naturally occurring anti fungal agent. It's gluten free
  22. I don't want to pay anymore for Kraft products than I do now. I am more than happy to read labels every time I buy something. Why should I, as a celiac which is less than 1% of the population, expect a company to change their testing practices just for me which is then going to raise the product's costs for the whole population. Gluten eaters see "gluten...
  23. I agree with Karen, most doctors don't know a lot about gluten free foods or think they know but the info is outdated. I don't know how many times I have been told about preshredded cheese and frozen veggies containing gluten used as an anti-caking or anti-sticking agent and they aren't there. Read all your own labels and never depend on someone else to know...
  24. Like the others said, it takes time. I am three days shy of 6 months and I still have more bad days than good. Yesterday was the first time I have been able to eat dairy without feeling like I got glutened. I didn't feel great, but it didn't feel like the first time I sat down and ate some yummy gluten-free pizza with cheese. I still am going to try and stay...
  25. Africanqueen99, I am sorry you had to have your thyroid irradiated for cancer, it was quite a bit different for me having Grave's. Out of all the things I have been through on my treck with celiac, this one was actually really easy. I didn't have to be quarantined, I could be around my child, she couldn't sit on my lap for long periods, I had to eat off of...
