  1. Hello and welcome Tessa has said it all! Stay on gluten through the testing process so you get as accurate a result as possible. If it's celiac the endoscopy is the best chance of diagnosing it. But remember if the test is negative there's nothing to lose and potentially a great deal to gain from giving the gluten free diet a thorough and proper try...
  2. Hello and welcome The first few days/weeks/months on the diet can be a little strange! You will have good days and bad days and progress isn't always linear, but you will get there. Take a little time out to read this thread, there's lot's of good advice in there! Your doctor is right, it's about healing and allowing your stomach to make the most...
  3. Hi Michelle and welcome I'm guessing you're like me and from the UK? Which means that sadly much of Tessa's list won't be accessible, but don't worry there's plenty to eat here too. I'll go ahead and reply as if your a Brit, if not ignore me Be careful not to scare yourself by doing this. There are a lot of sites that sensationalise or try...
  4. I'm sorry I don't In fact I just looked and only found this on the uk datasheet; So maybe I was wrong!
  5. Ok, I may be wrong as I'm definitely not an expert, but my understanding is that immunoglobulin a would be separate from total igA. The first test is to check your levels. The second is to check that your natural levels of igA are within the normal leveL. The reason is that some people are naturally low in igA which means that they will score low on...
  6. What a great post! I will reply, I'm very interested in this topic too, but I'll do it when I have enough time to do your questions justice.
  7. Hello I also tested negative after being convinced it would be positive. If you're interested in learning more about NCGS I collected a few links here. One thing I wanted to comment on is the idea that NCGS means you don't have to be as careful about slipping from the diet. My own experience is that very small amounts of cross contamination can...
  8. Hello and welcome It's true that there's aOpen Original Shared Link. Loose stools and other digestion issues can be symptoms of celiac and you should definitely explore this issue with your doctor. This is the full celiac panel, try and get as many of these as available to you: Anti-Endomysial (EMA) IgAAnti-Tissue Transglutaminase (tTG) IgADeamidated...
  9. Also if you want more choices join coeliac uk and they will send you a guide with all the safe foods in. It's also available online. Well worth it when your starting out. theres also a uk thread in the international section of this forum where we share our recommendations. no shortage of calories in my picks...
  10. I don't know who is claiming lots of uk gluten-free breads are contaminated? It's certainly news to me! I think it is possible to get a slight reaction to gluten-free breads and pastas, especially if you eat a lot. as I understand it they can contain a very small amount of gluten which can add up to more than the acceptable daily amount for a celiac...

  12. That reminds me of the time I was in rural California and someone asked me if I was German They're speaking the beautiful South Western Ireland version of English. If you ever get the chance you should go there. It's one of the most beautiful parts of the world and the people are lovely. Albeit they maintain a sadistic pleasure in spinning tall tales...
  13. I think that's the answer. You can see plenty of others experiencing the same: My own experience is that my neuro symptoms took longer to go. The exception to this would be brain fog which happily lifted pretty quickly. I get occasional POTS on standing or a kind of sensation from in my head sometimes which is really difficult to describe which...
  14. There was a thread on here some time ago from someone struggling to be gluten free on a vegan diet that got some good responses from vegan celiacs. Maybe worth a search, this forum has had so many members over the years who have been through similar.
  15. Welcome 3 positive looks about as unequivocal as it gets barring the endoscopy for confirmation. You should be proud of yourself for figuring this out and pushing for the test. It looks very much like you've found your answer and hopefully once the testing is complete you can look forward to feeling a lot better. There will be lots of support...
  16. Welcome Desiree Lot's of people, myself included, wind up in the same situation you have, removing gluten from the diet then finding out they need to go back on it for testing. Unfortunately there's no option other than the challenge. I know it's the last thing you feel like after experiencing a health improvement on your diet. You need to weigh...
  17. Lidl this time - next to Aldi it's my addiction! Open Original Shared Link
  18. You really need to stop eating gluten. I don't think there's anything else to be said. You need to change your mindset, act as if you'd received a positive celiac test and live accordingly.
  19. Sounds like a good plan. Remember that once you've finished testing there's nothing to stop you trialling the gluten-free diet, don't assume that a negative for celiac means gluten isn't a problem...
  20. You're welcome I don't want to attack your doctor, he's the one with the knowledge, experience, qualifications etc. but it does seem as if his conception of celiac is a little narrow. There's some links and further info on testing here and the forum FAQ is stickied above as well. Finally, even if you do exclude celiac don't take that to mean that...
  21. Celiac can present with many different symptoms or even none (silent celiac). You have GI issues, brain fog and I may be wrong but the non alcohol fatty liver seems to be related to celiac: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/25617505 Can you get a second opinion? Alternatively, you could try writing a letter saying that: Given my test result...
  22. I saw one in the store today and was sorely tempted. I love ice cream
  23. Hello and welcome If you can dig out the full test results you could post them here. It may be that one or another of the possible tests wasn't ran, some celiacs only register on one: Anti-Gliadin (AGA) IgAAnti-Gliadin (AGA) IgGAnti-Endomysial (EMA) IgAAnti-Tissue Transglutaminase (tTG) IgADeamidated Gliadin Peptide (DGP) IgA and IgGTotal Serum...
