  1. Maull's is another brand that had gluten free. It's my favorite.

Kaleab, it could be a science project. One person was really stubborn, insisting it wasn't that big a deal. I asked them if I poured an ounce of gasoline in their bowl of soup, would that be something they'd want to eat. No! It would make me sick. That's dangerous. Same with gluten for a celiac. While I might not look sick on the outside, on the inside...
  4. Julissa, I get eyerolls. "There she goes again." Comments if I bring my own food. Comments if I don't eat "a little bit won't kill you." The latest was kind of a trap. Family dinner for a birthday party. There was a pizza/Italian place that plainly stated "none of our products are gluten-free, and we don't guarantee anything." I was asked by family if that...
  5. I just saw this, late to the game. Ted Turner's Montana Grill has a gluten-free menu. We do burgers at Five Guys. The only thing they fry are potatoes.
  6. I'm so sorry this is a struggle. It's hard to change, and it sounds like your dad likes his bread. I'm the mom/grandmom in the family, and I'm the only celiac. The nightmares that causes. Daughters in laws and sons in law acting like I do it for attention. Family members planning big gatherings at pizza places and Italian restaurants and getting angry...

It's hard for people to comprehend cross contamination. I've demonstrated how easy it can be. Bowls of water lined up, labeled different things. Like "gluten-free soup" and "gluten-free sauce" and so on. I take a small piece of gluten-free bread, and we pretend it's bread with gluten. I drop it in the pretend soup, and the bread dissolves. I ask if that...
  8. Pamelas baking mix is another good one for gluten-free pancakes. I'm very strict about my kitchen. I've replaced everything that could be contaminated from past use. The only gluten containing food allowed to be cooked are microwave items. Keeps me healthy and my kitchen not contaminated.
  9. I've been gluten-free for about a year now. I feel better than I did a year ago. All my issues are not resolved, but I'm 60 ... So I have a lot of damage to overcome. And some things that may not resolved, but that's a different story. I know that when I feel gluten, I bump up my intake of water. I want to flush my system as quickly as possible. I drink...

I'm 60 and get the same kind of nonsense from other adults ... Sometimes people are afraid of things they don't understand and instead of trying to understand, they act like bullies. The first few months are hard. Adjusting your body, and adjusting your brain and how to think about food. Some withdrawal symptoms will happen, but once you're past that...
  12. I'm the only celiac in my house. However, I only cook gluten-free. My husband and grandson eat gluten-free with me. I allow a few gluten-free snacks for the child, but they're kept in a bin on the lowest shelf off the pantry. He's old enough to be able to be responsible for clean up. They're mostly chips or cookies. Some microwave things, like pizza rolls...
  13. Not just horse feed. Cat food. Dog food. I have a mask to wear when handling large amounts of dry pet food. I wash my hands after. Any sons our scouts go right in the dish washer.
  14. We love fish. Salmon is a favorite. We have a couple ways we fix it. One is very simple with some lemon juice, butter and garlic powder. We have a Cuisinart grill very similar to a Foreman. We cook it about 7-8 minutes. perfect. I take a salmon fillet and top it with lemon slices, crushed garlic, a little brush of olive oil, fresh rosemary sprigs...
  15. I am in the US. A small rural area, with limited medical services. It took 3 months to get an appointment with a GI locally. Then another 3 months to schedule an endoscopy. It's a nightmare.
