ARCHIVED Should I Do The Gluten Challenge Or Not?Georgia-guy replied to dan95's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms Dan, these are the blood tests available for celiac disease: -DGP-IgA -DGP-IgG -tTG (anti-tissue transglutaminase)-IgA -tTG-IgG -EMA (anti-endomysial antibodies)-IgA -EMA-IgG -Total serum IgA The EMA tests are older and less reliable, but can still be helpful in some cases. The 5 you want to really push your doctor to run are the DGP and tTG (both...

ARCHIVED Gluten-Free Label Rule To Take Effect, But Its Use Won't Be Mandatory - Los Angeles TimesGeorgia-guy replied to Scott Adams's topic in Publications & Publicity I'm slightly confused, what exactly does the new labeling law require?? But on the flip side, "Additionally, gluten-free diets have become "fashionable," ... but also has meant that real medical problems are sometimes treated lightly, Fasano says." <---I love that statement! So true! I don't know how many times in 2 months I have had people say something...

ARCHIVED Gluten Free Chinese FoodGeorgia-guy replied to Nick-incollege's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants I had never heard of San j, so it will be a nice new guaranteed safe thing to try. Their website shows 7 different sauces, gonna have to look more to see if all are gluten-free, cuz I tend to mix it up in the kitchen (as in combine different cultural foods such as maybe Chinese sauce on some pasta).

ARCHIVED Gluten Free Chinese FoodGeorgia-guy replied to Nick-incollege's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants I've never been to this one, and I can't find a website for them (mainly cuz I'm not sure the name of the place, I just know it's in the Kroger shopping center).

ARCHIVED Gluten Free Chinese FoodGeorgia-guy replied to Nick-incollege's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants I will have to look for some San-j sauce (I've never heard of it). But what about duck sauce? Would it be safe? Duck sauce was always my favorite part of getting Chinese.

The What's For Dinner Tonight ChatGeorgia-guy replied to jess-gf's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips You could always eat dinner in front of the TV, especially with a meal like nachos, they are designed for sport games, which is normally in front of the TV.

ARCHIVED Jason Certified gluten-free Facial ProductsGeorgia-guy replied to powerofpositivethinking's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications I didn't know they carried my brand of facial products...or that I have my own brand. Lol (that would be my real name)

ARCHIVED Gluten Free Chinese FoodGeorgia-guy replied to Nick-incollege's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants Why do I do this to myself? I'm taking an old friend out to lunch for her birthday during her lunch break...I told her to choose a place by her work that was good. I was expecting something like Chiles, Red lobster, O'Charleys, etc. little did I realize, the only things by her work are fast food. And the only good place is the Chinese place. :-/ I have not...

ARCHIVED Most Ridiculous Gluten Comment I've HeardGeorgia-guy replied to C-Girl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease I had someone look at me like I was crazy when I used the peanut line (turns out they are allergic to peanuts, go figure). They told me that they would be stupid to eat even a "skin" from a peanut. I quickly explained "well, you go into anaphylactic shock with a trace amount of peanuts. I go into (insert rather detailed symptom list here) with trace amounts...

ARCHIVED To Anyone Looking To Get A Dx Of Dh (A Skin Biopsy)Georgia-guy replied to squirmingitch's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis I want to add to wait until AFTER RESULTS ARE BACK AND A DIAGNOSIS IS MADE to go gluten free or gluten light. Just having the biopsy done (or the endoscopy or blood tests as well) does not mean it will give a definitive answer. The doctor may want to supplement a test with another one, or the results may not be conclusive and they may wish to redo a test...

ARCHIVED Most Ridiculous Gluten Comment I've HeardGeorgia-guy replied to C-Girl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease That is when I would look at them and use the peanut comparison..."would you give someone with a peanut allergy just 1 peanut, it won't kill them right?"

ARCHIVED 100% Gluten Free Restaurants?Georgia-guy replied to Georgia-guy's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants The map didn't load earlier. Probably cuz I was out of high speed data for the billing cycle on my phone...and I'm too cheap to pay for internet when I'm barely ever home. But I got it to load now, and it's a good 2 hoursish away from me. :'(

ARCHIVED Gluten 'sensitivity'Georgia-guy replied to BarryC's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms Elles, your doctor must have gone to med school with mine! Even though celiac put an explanation to pages of "idiopathic (insert primary complaint)", my doctor refused to even do 1 test for celiac because I have no family history of celiac (but I do have a family history of AI like crazy). I ended up paying a lab directly for the full panel which was (not...

ARCHIVED Gluten Sensitivity To Different Gluten Containing Foods?Georgia-guy replied to BarryC's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease I would think it may be the gluten content. If you take a piece of bread, it's gonna have a lot more gluten ppm than some fried chicken. With the bread, it's mostly your gluten containing grain, where fried chicken is mostly chicken with a bit of gluten containing grain on the outside. It's kinda like if you weight yourself, only a small percentage of your...

ARCHIVED Health Break | New Blood Test Helps To Determine Celiac Disease - Centre Daily TimesGeorgia-guy replied to Scott Adams's topic in Publications & Publicity I must have missed the part about a NEW blood test...since he's in Alabama, and I'm not far from him, I'm almost tempted to schedule an appointment to see if he sounds as behind on the times in person as he does in the 15 year old article that was just published.
