  1. ...OMG, your diet sounds a bit like mine, olives, dairy, meat are all nos for me and egg yolks make me sick, same with peanuts ,and a whole lot of other foods recently had to cut out carbs due to ulcerative colitis so no grains, starchy veggies, or fruits for me ....hmm seems you need more fats. How are you with the following, Coconut, Pumpkin Seeds, sacha...
  2. Many of us have reactions that get us put in the ER, not much they co do for it, not quite a gluten ebipen yet lol. Plus side I just heard recent news of a new vaccine that turns off the T cells for the gluten antibodies or something like that that is in clinical trials. I decided to wait it out and just put up with it. at that time I had no insurance so...
  3. Celiac is a Autoimmune disease, your body reacts in a similar fashion to the gluten proteins as it does to a germ. A tiny bit will trigger the immune response and your body will release the antibodies to try to attack it damaging your body in the process more or less as a mistaken collateral damage. The antibodies will remain high for weeks afterwards slowly...
  4. I am reminded about how it was my mother who pointed me at celiac disease back when my doctor had no idea. Washingtonmama, artistsl, and Mermaid's Mom, your children are truly blessed to have such loving mothers. I can say I am thankful mine pointed it out and supported me even as a adult. I was adopted, and my mother has no relation to this disease...
  5. I thought of it as another kind of symptom that affects some of us. The immune system just reacts and attacks a little differently, or so how I thought of it. I found I require higher amounts of vitamins and minerals associated with neurological development and support. Much higher in fact then others to feel "normal" mostly magnesium and b vitamins. Nerve...
  6. Can start for me within 15-45mins for the nausea last 4-10 hours really bad if straight gluten with gut wrenching pains and vomiting. The gas, bloating, random pangs, etc. go on for about the next week stepping down slowly. Bunch of other symptoms but this is just in reference to straight gluten poisoning and the nausea.
  7. Tell me about, I have ulcerative colitis in addition to celiac carbs set it off the deep end with flare ups. For years assumed it was just bad gut bacteria anyway. I found a mostly ketogenic diet of low carb veggies, proteins, and a bunch of fats is way to go. I have removed all grains, beans, starchy veggies, fruit, and sugars. I feel great no bloating...
  8. Look into Ulcerative colitis, I have it on top of Celiac, it explains a lot of the issues with the distention, carbs, and fats. Flare ups are caused by Gluten, Dairy, Fructose, Glucose and other common sugars found in carbs.
  9. I use chips, beanito bean chips a bit like a tortilla chip, but gluten, corn, soy free. Going to be honest using flavored corn like chips for breading is awesome. Ians foods makes gluten-free panko for breading, another option is to buy a gluten-free bread toast it really well or slowly bake it in hte oven til it dries out. Just Pulse these in a food...
  10. These are more of emergency meal replacements, to get you buy if you have to miss a meal. They might work for one meal of the day but not all 3-4 meals, calorie wise they are not enough. I might suggest eating nuts and seeds in addition to them and blending them with almond milk etc. Perhaps use a double scoop. I use the MRM and and a bag of mixed almonds...
  11. Fix your own stir fry and rice gluten-free at the house with gluten-free noodles, and sauces etc. Bring it in containers, explain to the manager you and your daughter are there for a family event and have severe food allergies and had to special make your own and bring it. Call about this before hand, I do this normally when eating out and only get a drink...
  12. ..I used to use a gluten-free Rice Vinegar, gluten-free Mirin, and Salt. You can source gluten-free versions, you need to ask how restaurant prepare them and what brands are used. I know the sushi from several places here locally are safe for celiacs and gluten-free, I myself have one place I like to go to here. Though the roll they make for me is special...
  13. Your stools sound about normal and healthy. The film/mucus can either be excess fats, the gel from the citrocel your taking as it does form one, or it could be a mucus from intestinal irritation. Now I really do suggest not taking that citracel all the time on a consistent bases. It is very abrasive to the intestines, good for a few week cycle but not constant...
  14. I might be concerned about the grill, but I am pretty sure they get grilled gluten-free freeze packed to be reheated on the local stores. DO not quote me on this I am not familiar with how they do it. MY concern would be the fries.....they fry breaded chicken they fry fries, do they have a gluten-free dedicated fryer? How do they fix them, are the cooked...
  15. I have been on large doses of PPIs for years, some issues to persist. But my villi have healed mostly in the 3 years since my diagnosis and gluten-free diet according to my last endoscope and biopsy resuslts. NOW I have strictly avoiding NSAIDS and SSRIs I know the NSAIDS always made me have bloody stools really bad so I have not taken any in over 2 years...
  16. AH this is what I was looking for, bit nostalgic, my grandma used to give me papaya spears when my stomach acted up as a little kid saying it would help my tummy. Well I can't eat the fruit but the enzymes is a great idea. I forgot to check and see if pineapple and papaya enzymes were different. Will look into this when I get more enzymes, oh and yes I chew...
  17. You might be alright to reintroduce them later. But some celiacs react to oats just as bad as gluten containing grains. There is also the huge industry issues with oat purity issues and being gluten free. I personally have a minor reactions to oats, and quite minor. It took someone else harking on me to point it out actually. Luckily I do not have to worry...
  18. PM sent on this, lets keep this out of the public view. NOW if you have a magical pill for gastric emptying, on command, a better set of enzymes to help with VERY high protein and fat break downs like what I found is working then help out but the PPI thing is off the table. The issue is solved doubling digestive enzymes broad spectrum and taking...
  19. This differs from person to person, note you will have huge up and downs til your system regulates and your antibodies decrease on a gluten-free diet. Should regulate in 1-2 months and improvements in 4-6 in overall health should be noticeable. NOTE keep a food journal of everything you eat to help nail down any other culprits that might crop up causing you...
  20. I actually like general anesthesia, you go to sleep wake up with no sense of how long you have been out. I oddly feel the most calm and rested ever after coming out. Like I just woke up from the best full night of sleep ever feeling without the groggy or soreness.
  21. The villi damage can not be directly seen but under a microscope. IF the damage is really bad there can be obvious signs such as flattened folds, discoloration, inflammation, ulcers, and mucus. NOW you could have non celiac gluten intolerance, which has many of the same sickening symptoms as celiac but the villi damage and very high antibodies might not be...
  22. Thought I would talk about the importance of a food journal, we talk about it commonly enough on the threads and thought it deserved some stories, tips and suggestions. A food Journal is basically a journal you keep of all foods consumed daily, snacks, condiments, ingredients, medications. You write them all down when you fix your meal or take them....
  23. NOPE Betaine made it 10x worse, the bromelain fixed it. My acid is plenty strong......that betaine made it worse and I dropped it after 4 days of giving it a try. The Bromelain eased the indigestion, and seems to benefit me more. My effects of my ketogenic diet are more stable now in addition instead of up and down. Thanks for the suggestion it might...
  24. While CC can be a huge issues I found a few places I can trust, and I take test strips or a tester with me when I eat out. Big thing is look up reviews of places on FindMeGlutenFree app on a phone and check those out. I suggest not eating out the first few months though. But when you do ask the manager about how they will fix your food, make sure you order...
  25. Went in they took my vitals, had me change into a gown, hooked me up to a IV, oxygen nose thing, and a machine to monitor my heart and BP. Wheeled me in had me lay on my side and used anesthesia via the IV to put me to sleep. Came out of it feeling great, no issues and felt oddly better rested then I do with a whole nights sleep. All in all I would say...
