ARCHIVED Probiotics / VitaminsEnnis-TX replied to Fbmb's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease I take Jarrow Probiotics and eat coconut yogurt daily. For vitamins I use Liquid health, they have them in liquid form you just measure into a glass of tea or juice and drink it.....BIG deal for me since I already take 4-9pills with each meal.

ARCHIVED Feeling frustrated and impatientEnnis-TX replied to Fbmb's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease DO not be overly paranoid about damage, I know I was for the years I would get minor issues, maybe a major poisoning once or twice a year. I feared I would still have major damage and villi blunting, I felt better but still had a bunch of food issues some went away other surfaced scared me more when I had other complications show up. But alas after 3 years...

ARCHIVED Hidden sources of glutenEnnis-TX replied to Ruth Shober's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease Funny story ediblejack, foodiespoon, and several other companies make edible utensil. While they do have a gluten-free line the primary lines all use wheat. You might run into these market, party, sampling event, or have a foodie/ecocrazy friend who has them. I considered using the gluten-free ones for my bakery and sampling a few years back and did my research...

ARCHIVED Hidden sources of glutenEnnis-TX replied to Ruth Shober's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease They do produce a biodegradable cup, plates, utensils, etc. now with wheat flour\starch. Doubt you will run into these in a public store, they are a specialty product for these eco freaks that thing should be edible/biodegradable. I understand the hair product issue, I have long hair that can blow into my mouth or I move constantly with my hands. First few...

ARCHIVED Have I discovered a cure for brain fog?Ennis-TX replied to Estes's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease Tell me about it, when you can not eat meats, and a bunch of other things, it becomes really quite annoying getting the optimal fat/protein ratios. The amount of nuts, seeds, and vegan protein powders I go through is crazy. Diet cost me over $600 a month for a single male at 125-128lbs and 5' 11" Egg whites is about the only animal product I can eat in...

nuts ARCHIVED Are nuts in shells safe?Ennis-TX replied to Kat18's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications Open Original Shared Link Has a bunch of seeds, dried fruit, etc. that are gluten-free and free of all major allergens. I love the deep nutty crunch of the hemp seeds, and the pumpkin seeds. I eat them shell on whole, plenty of fiber, they also sell shelled versions of them and even sunflower, chia, and flax.

Mushrooms hit and missEnnis-TX replied to Ennis-TX's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications I actually looked into growing my own, I hear they grow GREAT on coffee grounds. Issues is all starting seeds, and spore batches EVERYWHERE are on rye, wheat, and barely seeds. LITERALLY, the standard for growing them is planting the spores on gluten containing grains. Check yourself on this, while mentioned in several articles the gluten protein is not in...

Interesting on this, I sent in the Mantoba harvest and the Upton to the lab. I have since apologized for snapping at the uptons products and started questioning the Nima more often. On a side note the sample from the Mantoba Harvest Hemp tested low and came back 6ppm.....Should I be concerned as a celiac on this? Or should I consume the product and hope...

Mushrooms hit and missEnnis-TX replied to Ennis-TX's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications Yeah but it does explain my slight reactions I get randomly from those two foods. Wish there was a very well documented lab study. You know like 10-20 different brands testing 1 batch per week over the period of 12 months recording the gluten content to the PPM and posting it. Also a varied control of doing it twice once with washed once with unwashed. ...

Always had a slight fear of diabetes myself due to my nerve issues was first thought by doctors to be diabetes. I will tell you something that I did for another reason that slammed that thought. I got a glucose monitor kit for like $14 for everything. And started checking my blood sugar for a few days making record of meals snacks, moods etc. IT did show...

Excruciating Back and Chest Pain from CCEnnis-TX replied to Onepercenter's topic in Super Sensitive People My symptoms where mostly gastric and quite mild, just random puking, 5-7day constipation, and extreme fatigue before a huge drinking binge that caused to become much worst with gluten then triggering neurological and nervous system issues where my system would also attack my nervous system, brain, etc. afterward. And the gastric issues then flared to hell...

ARCHIVED Pop Sugar ArticleEnnis-TX replied to gardengirl77's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications The fact that many people would unconsciously touch their face through out the day is a concern. Also some with DH, hyper senstive, or allergic would have skin reactions. Gluten in a foundation, or any kind of makeup/shampoo would be a nightmare in the amount of daily CC you would have,

I really enjoy mushrooms, using upside down portabello in my bagel bite sub recipe, sauted in nutiva butter flavored coconut oil then served over salads, no carb gluten-free noodle dishes, and pureed into a broth for a stew/soup. Sometimes just snack on them even. But it has always been hit and miss, like sometimes I get glutened sometimes not, they...

ARCHIVED Feeling frustrated and impatientEnnis-TX replied to Fbmb's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease If eating carbs before bed this could be the issues, your system slows at night while you sleep, carb are processed more slowly going through your gut while your lying down. There is a chance your gut bacteria could be getting a bit more active and processing them, fermenting, or just breaking them down producing gas, enzymes, etc. Not moving so much in your...

ARCHIVED I think I got Glutened from strawEnnis-TX replied to Jess8989's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis I know I got glutened after handling some straw last year helping out decorating at the farmers market then going to eat something without washing my hands. I later learned it was wheat straw, some of them still had the heads on them and everything. Gave that area wide walk around after that, I did not have much issues with inhalation with it. But if your...

ARCHIVED Extreme HungerEnnis-TX replied to Ginger1012's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms Try reducing the carbs, upping the healthy fats and proteins. The sugar load from the carbs might be throwing your body out of whack with your sugar blance. I find turning to almonds, coconut, etc. seems to help. Thought I get random cravings for fruit myself, which I can not have. Fiber intake might help a bit, try snacking on stuff like whole pumpkin...

What kind of prices you get on the 5lb bags, and top it off with shipping how much would you charge me lol. I get about 4months out of a 5lb bag for $95-$98 total. PS Julian bakery has recently come out with a beef protein isolate bar that is gluten, soy, dairy, and Pea protein free. Bar is Paleo so no legumes, grains, etc. Also they have Pegan bars or...

ARCHIVED Magnesium Citrate & Acid reflux questionEnnis-TX replied to Mermaid's Mom's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease We have a member who SWEARs everyone is low on stomach acid and tells everyone to drop PPIs and take betaine hcl which increases the strength of ones stomach acid. This might work for some people. There are many supporting articles, and published works on it, especially if you notice undigested food in the stool, Simply put some people have a issues where...

ARCHIVED Celiac Disease Suspected - I Hope SoEnnis-TX replied to Lakme's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms I had a bunch of symptoms growing up that I just ASSUMED where normal. Cramps, 3-7 days of constipation, randomly throwing up half my meals a few hours after eating, always feeling nauseated after meals.....Used to think it was just normal. Then after a certain issue in my 20s the neurological manifestations and much worse gastro issues hit to where I thought...

ARCHIVED Magnesium Citrate & Acid reflux questionEnnis-TX replied to Mermaid's Mom's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease If the citrate version bothers you in small amounts as low as 1/2tsp then you need to change to Magnesium Glycinate like Doctors best. Some people do not react well to the citrate. NOTE Citrate version of magnesium is used as a laxative in higher doses and sold in stores that way mixed up in bottles. Some of us just react that way to it, I use both myself...

ARCHIVED Food Additive Triggers Autoimmune ResponseEnnis-TX replied to knitty kitty's topic in Related Issues & Disorders Maybe this is why I have trouble with meats, I still have very little issues with fish fillets, and REAL CRAB from millers select, and no issues with making broths with the grass fed longhorn from a local guy. Most processed, canned, hamburger, packaged, etc. All seem to cause me to puke them back up or come out undigested out the back when consumed in smaller...

ARCHIVED Food Additive Triggers Autoimmune ResponseEnnis-TX replied to knitty kitty's topic in Related Issues & Disorders I have reactions with modified food starch from corn, asuflame potassium. aspartame, yeast extract, olive oil, few other random things they seem to have obsessions with putting in our foods. I know a few have issues with xantham gum, I stick to agar or guar gum as I have less issues with. Food industry is full of odd things they like doing to our foods for...

Since my updated diagnosis, I have pretty much stopped all fruit, lowered my starchy veggie intake, and moved to a ketogenic diet. I am going in and out of it, finding getting a glucose monitor and checking my sugars helps a bit with understanding my moods a bit more and what to eat for snacks. The ketosis thing is causing some odd issues, constipation...

ARCHIVED Kirkland Artichoke HeartsEnnis-TX replied to Pauliewog's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications Been wondering about these also, I been personally just using frozen ones from Trader Joe's. But I also have a thing with the salt, thinking a good rinse and soak in some water for 15mins should help pull it out. Would be great in omlettes, sautes, and in my pasta dishes.

That is the brand I use, screw all the other stuff he says. The fact is the pure pumpkin powder protein is really high in zinc, magnesium, and several key amino acids, fats, and various other nutrients. But it on amazon btw. the double or the 5lb are the best deals. It is one of the few proteins that help me to put on weight. Also a few tsp before bed makes...
