Well for the record I never eat beef, rarely eat pork, chicken and seafood. I would never eat any of them raw. As for dehydrators ,I have one but the heat cannot be controlled on it and it takes so long to do jerky and fruit that some of it goes rancid, it is one of the old round ones. They have new dehydrators out that you can control the heat and time,...

ARCHIVED Celiac Disease
Rusla replied to SVG's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Welcome to the board, you will find a wealth of information on here. When I first found out I was Celiac I was already on the board that was because there were strong suspicions that I had the disease. However, at first it seems like there is nothing that can be eaten and that is true in a lot of restaurants. But at home pasta can be replaced by rice noodle... -
I will make sure I ask a protein question. I suppose dehydrated meat would be okay because chickend jerky done raw would be okay and it is protein.

Thanks Angie, I have been rather sporadic at best and will be for awhile. I have to find a new place to live in this expensive city. I was working on some stories, books, other business things and other work related issues alone with psycho and creepy landlords.

Ursula, I am sorry your family is filled with donut heads. Just because other people don't care about stomach or colon cancer. Just tell your kids etc., that if so and so's mother wishes to comit a slow painful suicide that is their perogative but you are not planning on it and you don't appreciate their attempts to murder you also. It is too bad you can...

When I first went Gluten-free I lost weight then, because of the high caloric values in much of our foods I gained weight not what I need. Now I have been reading the benefits of raw foods and yes this includes foods in a food dehydrator at a certain temperature. I am going to give this a shot. I am going to have my first "raw" class on Sunday, it is Mexican...

I know that if they take from the affected area where the eruption is it will not come the way it should. I don't know why, just it will. I would tell dippy doc to do it from the outside not from the the eruption. Let's load up a truck and all head to the veterinarian.

ARCHIVED Should I Get A Bone Scan Done?
Rusla replied to mythreesuns's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Arthritis is often hereditary. My son has had it since he was 18 and I have had it since my 20'a. Yes, you should have a bone density test done. If it shows nothing now then by all means make sure you have one done when you are older. I never had one done till a few months ago and there it is in my back and badly. Which means I who used ot be 5'4" is now... -
ARCHIVED I Understand That "tailz" Has Been Banned From This Site.
Rusla replied to Lymetoo's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I guess I have been missing all the good stuff on here again...thank goodness. Had my share of stick poking in the past. Let's face it human nature is that, not everyone one will agree with everyone else on any given subject all the time. Rusla -
I lost more than 10 teeth in less than 5 years because of this disease and not finding out about it until 10 months ago. What teeth are left are still having problem. Probably because of the late discovery. Well I figured I had but the doctors were too dense to listen to me. I had a friend who lost every tooth in her head due to this disease.

ARCHIVED Chocolate?
Rusla replied to MandyCandy's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hershey's, Effem, Cadbury are very good at listing all ingredients and whether their chocolate has been manufactured in facilities that have wheat or gluten products in them. Cadbury peanunt butter bars are a no no and unfortunately many Lindt and the Terry's Oranges are off limits. -
Low white cell count could be many things one of them being infection. Rusla

ARCHIVED Why Is One Crumb Too Much?
Rusla replied to azmom3's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
A crumb for me, even a minute one which is hardly visable causes me a great deal of grief. I break out immediately iin DH and I am sick for a week. Take a person with a nut allergy a kiss can kill some. So, this is the same, a kiss can make me sick for a week or more. If it makes it easier to explain to your husband, tell him it is like a severe allergy... -
ARCHIVED gluten-free Stampede Breakfast Yesterday
Rusla replied to 2Boys4Me's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Well, I have next year for the article, I guess. I lost a lot because of their overly waxed floors. I cannot believe your friend thought they would have anything gluten-free for the breakfasts at the grounds. It is hard enough to find gluten-free in stores and restaurants. I still hurt and my doctor says it will be awhile but I have to go back to work... -

ARCHIVED gluten-free Stampede Breakfast Yesterday
Rusla replied to 2Boys4Me's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
It still is, not only that but I have lost approximately $2000. in wages, another $2000. for an article I was to supply to a magazine on what Celiac's have to eat at the Stampede grounds (which is probably still nothing) and that was with pictures and I had a death in the family also. If I had only missed one day of work Zellers would have not been bothered... -

ARCHIVED Amy's Labeling Change "no Gluten Ingredients"
Rusla replied to a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
What I have found is even Amy's gluten-free items say that they are made in a facility that makes products that contain gluten. I personally won't nor can I touch items that have minute amounts of gluten in them or in a facility that has gluten. This is because of cross contamination issues. -
Royal Holland lines are very well versed on Celiac disease and accomodating.
