ARCHIVED Gluten In Tofu
Rusla replied to a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Some of the dessert tofu's have it in, I know Pete's does. Also things like Tofurkey and vegan or vegetarian tofu foods usually have tons of wheat in them but plain tofu doesn't. Best idea is still to read the label. Who knows when they will another food unaccessible to us. -
I feel like I am missing something. Which cakes did you make Laura?

I think this is not on unscrupulous but disgraceful for them to lie to people about potentially life threatening ingedients. I was not one who ate at MacD's except occasionally for hash browns, that was before dx. They deserved to be sued on this because they totally premeditated to blatantly lie to people. I am as disgusted with them as I am with Microsoft...

Sorry folks, the message I sent was a little lopsided. I have not been particularily well and my mind is faster than my hands. The story on Global TV in Calgary said that ALL Macdonalds frys have dairy and wheat in them, not just the ones in the US. So both Canadian and American MacD frys have wheat and dairy in them.
-
On Global TV here in Calgary they said that ALL Macdonalds frys have than in them. It was just on tv. So, I guess they lied about the frys in Canada for those of you who eat there.

Here is the thing with some who can't make the cruise if it is not in the summer. Any time from May to October (at least) is hurricane season in the Caribbean and for you folks in susceptible to them in the US. So, cruises in the spring are good. If other trips that are non cruises for different locales in the future could happen at different times of the...

ARCHIVED Tofutti Ice Cream
Rusla replied to krisb's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Tofutti fudgesicles and "marry me" are both gluten-free they do not guarantee the other things are however, I have had no problems with their "Better than Sour Cream" or cream cheese. They say they attempt to make those items gluten-free but they can not be totally sure because they are made in a different building than the fudgesicles and "marry me" bars... -
ARCHIVED Gluten And Difficulty Breathing?
Rusla replied to katshow's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Believe me what I have gone through this weekend because suntan lotion had it in it, I will never forget. I am still having problems and this was not just my wheat allergy but my Celiac and an allergy to another substance. After my calling the company and getting their assurance their was no gluten or wheat in it. It sounds like you also have a wheat allergy... -
When I get back from Jamaica I am going to order from QVC because, they ship to Canada. It also looks to be a better deal.

The Celebrity one for 7 days sounds good so far. Because I would like to see a slight bit of places I haven't been to before. With the Holland one floating about for 7 days and not leaving the boat would drive me nuts and I would start looking for animals, thinking I was Noah.
-
I had a wonderful weekend. I tried some new suntan lotion for the sun tan machines, because I need a base tan before I get to jamaica. Well I contacted the company who said there was no wheat or wheat gluten in it. Well, I tried it on my leg, it felt like my flesh was burning off, welts rose on my leg and I quickly had a shower. However, my face swelled up...

ARCHIVED Gluten And Paper Towels/plates
Rusla replied to a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
The thing on dentists and gloves is that many dentists get their gloves from different places. My dentist has his vinyl gloves in a box and no powder, very similar to the ones I buy by the box. The toilet paper issue would explain some weird glutenings for me. Now I don't use it to the end. -
I had a problems picking the logo because there were two I really liked, The Celiac c's and the Airy Blue Splash because it reminds me of a dolphin.

Deborah, you are awesome like Judy said. You have got so much done already. So far I like number 6 the best. Becaue it is bright and cheery looking.
-
I knew I had forgot something. I also like to add a bit of garlic powder.

ARCHIVED Australian Coeliacs
Rusla replied to AussieJade's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Karen in the East and Shirley in BC has said hi, so hi from another Canadian in Alberta. This is a great place and everyone has great input here. So welcome to our club. -
Has anyone here travelled with Celebrity? I know someone who just came back from a cruise on the Holland line and they said they were treated like royalty. Once we get price and everything worked up I can talk to the association here about putting it in the newsletter and on the website. Plus there are a lot of free papers that I could send something...

Runaway Beach and then spend a day in Montego Bay. I love the Caribbean. We could all be the Celiac Pirates of The Caribbean.
-
A bit of cayane powder, chili powder, pepper flakes, a bit of tyme, paprika,a little bit of salt and some pepper.
-
Actually in most cases April is cheaper. I am going to Jamaica the beginning of March. It would have been $500 cheaper to go in April but I am flying. I checked on the Galapapgos last year and it is about $5000. from Canada. Which makes me sad but some day I will go.
-
I think it is a great idea. It would of course be a different price for us Canadians. We don't want to be visiting the Caribbean after the end of April because it is hurricane season until the beginning of October. So, I think April is a fine time to go. I am up for 2008 I don't care if it is Eastern or Western Caribbean, I would love to go to the Galapagos...

ARCHIVED Mexican Food Gluten Free?
Rusla replied to HalfBlindJ's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Maybe it is my own weird thinking but there is something so wrong and not authentic about Mexican food containing soy sauce. As a matter of fact to me it is a bit like MSG, it is unnecessary and dangerous. -
ARCHIVED Wendy's Frostys: gluten-free Again?
