Many normal anti depressant drugs do not work on bipolar's and can actually do more harm than good. Not only that but he does sound very bipolar. There are many different levels and types of bipolarism and he is not a rapid cycler. Rapid cyclers do not stay in manic or depressive very long and can go in and out many times a day. He is the type that will...

I just got in from being in Edmonton at my brothers the last three days. W e had Chinese food from one of his favorite restaurants. When we called to order they said they could do the food with the special wheat and gluten-free Tamari. They could make pretty well every item except for the dumplings and thick noodles gluten-free. The owner said they had so...

ARCHIVED gluten-free Shampoo/sonditioner In The Uk?
Rusla replied to covsooze's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Actually many shampoo's, hand creams, conditoners, gels etc., have wheat or gluten in them and sometimes under a different name. We can not use any products that have wheat, gluten etc. in them because they become absorbed through the skin. There are many that do not list that they have wheat or gluten in them so, I always call the company and ask. -
Congrats on the job. I take stir frys I have made. I like taking raw vegs like sugar peas and carrrots. A half hour lunch is not enough time for anything else with me, so I have raw vegs and fruits like apples, oranges, bananas. Maybe a chicken sandwich with gluten-free bread and cooked chicken breast.

I have been allergic to coloringsm, additives and perfumes for years. Which also attributes to many of my food allergies. I have not ate red meat in years mainly I don't like it but I was allergic to the color additive and the hormones in them.

Not only do some of those crazy people where shorts but you see them outside in just t-shirts. A lot of those are the teenage boys who think they show machismo running around in -40 with no clothes on to speak of. I used to tell them when I was driving the bus that ,they may think they look cool, but pneumonia is for everyone and definitely not a cool thing... -
First of all everything you eat, drink put on your body, skin, hair has got to be gluten/wheat free. Read everylabel and I have emailed many companies. If you go gluten-free and you begin to feel better and have more energy and things change for the good then you have your answer. Some people are not Celiac but gluten intolerant, which does just as much damage...

ARCHIVED Westchester Broadway Dinner Theater?
Rusla replied to gymnastjlf's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Most cornish game hens are stuffed with rice, let's hope they use that. I would try calling that day about 5 hours before the performance. -
I am with everyone else on this. Take them to work and let everyone who can enjoy them. Thank the woman for them and say he enjoyed them and could you have the recipe so that you could practice making them yourself or would she help you make some. Don't throw away good chocolate cherries. If work doesn't do it take it to a womans shelter or a homeless...

ARCHIVED Horrible Restaurant Experience
Rusla replied to NY Hubbers's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
It is frustrating when you look at menu's and not one thing is glute-free or you stand in the middle of a food fair and realize there is not one thing that you can eat. It is always a chance when you eat out. My family is so worried of contaminating me that I am cooking all the dinners this Yule season. The restaurant experience I had was good but then... -

That is interesting so, I can go back to drinking my herbal teas. Like apple and cinnamon. It is nice that we have our own urban legends. -
ARCHIVED Hidden Gluten In Drinks?
Rusla replied to Billygoat's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
A lot of the teas that come in tea bags have gluten in them, something to do with the bag. If I drink tea it has to be leaf tea. -
ARCHIVED Orange Julius Products
Rusla replied to Rusla's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
It isn't because it is a powder. It because it is a powder that has gluten or wheat in it, she told me their product read-out says that it does or may contain gluten or wheat products. She said she can not in good conscience sell anyone with gluten intolerance or Ceilic disease any of their products. Her daughter has Celiac and does not work there or have... -
ARCHIVED There Is Hope---but Not Out Of The Water Yet
Rusla replied to chrissy's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
If you have her go totally gluten-free it can affect the results to a false negative. I am so glad that I do not have to repeat another blood test as I could not take 6-12 weeks of gluten now, nor would I want to, I am lucky/unlucky to have DH. However, I know when I have been glutened my face becomes a mess. -

well Nantzie, sometimes in Canada (depends where you live), just pretend you have gone to sleep in your freezer. In BC which is much warmer than anywhere else you just think you have gone to sleep in San Francisco. I have always been cold, ever since I was a kid. I always have a blanket on me when I am laying on the couch or sitting in my chair. I am... -

Rusla posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I spoke to the owner of the Orange Julius in Market Mall in Calgary. She told me everything has a form of wheat or gluten in it as it comes in the powder they add into the drinks. -
ARCHIVED My Husband Doesn't "get It" How Do I Help Him Understand?
Rusla replied to chrissy's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Rachel, I was trying to figure out when I have been gluten-free for almost three weeks why my gums were swelling and my DH coming out. Then I found out about the cat litter. I knew it was affecting my asthma but when I wear the gloves, sleeves, hat and mask don't have DH or the big D. If I do the box without them then I do. -
ARCHIVED Glutened At Christmas Party

The cat litter is the scoopable type that doesn't flush. I have been told that type and the clay type both have wheat in them to cut down the odor. I get my cat litter from Costco but I am told all clay and non flushable sand cat litter has wheat in them. The scoopable cat litter that flushes does not have wheat in it. -

How many of us have had Mono I wonder? I had mono at 18 and my gallbladder out at 20, my tonils out at 21 and a tubaligation at that age with a hystrectomy at 35. I remember my big D problems started after mono got worse after gall bladder. -
ARCHIVED My Husband Doesn't "get It" How Do I Help Him Understand?
Rusla replied to chrissy's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Christine, You may also want to introduce your husband to this site. Many don't get it until they read what happens to others. The fact that no two are alike and all the different symptoms and some never have symptoms. The damage from this can kill. Perhaps you should take the whole house gluten-free. There are lots of good recipes out there. That way... -
Creid--I am sorry that they were like that, how tacky and rude of your co-workers and boss. It's like they don't get that this is not a fad diet or a choice diet, it is a life and death diet. I feel very lucky that my co-workers try to understand and are adult about this. For our Yule party they made sure the restaurant would do a gluten-free meal for...

ARCHIVED How Did You Acquire Celiac?
Rusla replied to tasha's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I really don't know how long I have had it but almost 8 years ago I was in grave danger with Pernicious Anemia. No one knew why I had it and the GI would not listen about Thyroid or anything else. It was shortly after that when we ended out on strike and I started to have real problems with my stomach but I have had the big D my whole life . It has certainly...
